I think it's actually very impressive that you could do what you did in just a few weeks. The games may not have been perfect, but they were unquestionably functional, and that alone signals good skill on your part. I'm currently trying to program a racing game for about two months now and dang, I have a hard time even making heads or tails of anything. My idea is too complex for a beginner like me so I oughtta go for something more simple first. In fact I'd love to play these myself just for fun! For the record, great job on these fast-made games!
Thanks Cat! You can even play the first game on my Scratch profile; just search "LynxEVO" on the scratch website and you should find it if you wanna give it a shot. I have to publish the second one, tho I'm doubting if I should or not lol. OHH so you're making a racing game That's sick! What program and code language are you using? For the models, I recommend to use free assets first; they can be used as placeholders meanwhile you're coding, or if you like 'em, you can even use them for the final version. If you have questions about programming, please tell me, I would be glad to help you!
@@Vileksbd You’re welcome, and I’ll be sure to check them out when I have time! Yes, I was trying to make one, though my idea is too complicated for a beginner like me so I plan to do something more simple first. I’m using Scratch’s simple format with the blocks. Thanks for the offer :3
@@StatickyCat I see! with Scratch you can directly draw the sprites yourself, in addition to already having a few sprites prepared to use them, so you don't need to make different objects for the tails or the head; it's almost pixelart (but not exactly). I also think you can start with the car game directly; If your plan is that the car will move horizontally, it shouldn't be too hard to program. There's also lotsa vids on yt to start learning Scratch 👍
@@Vileksbd Scratch does seem like a good and easy beginner program! Now the reason I won’t do the racing game plan yet is because I want the player to be able to drive in all directions on a map with an overhead view, similar to Mickey’s Speedway USA on the Game Boy Color. I might make another racing game that’s simpler like you described with a different title, as I’ll be making this racing game with one of my friends’ characters and I want to uphold a high standard for them. As to whom it’ll be for, I’ll keep it a secret for now.
@@StatickyCat Aight yea, maybe you should start with a simpler game like that one as your first game. That friend of yours must be someone you appreciate a lot since you're planning to make a whole game for him/her, I'm glad for you two! And I wonder what reaction he/she will have when you finish the game, that's something I would like to see through his/her comment :3
Computer science looks really hard, meanwhile I studied in a different category of science btw I also remembered my classmates that got the first prize in computer science a few years ago btw [Not designing a game but something about real life or robotics]
Woah, that's super cool! I think I remember someone winning a prize for doing incredibly well an exercise at my old school. Yea, computer science is, in my experience, somewhat hard. It's a study that you must put in many hours to optimize learning, but if you like it, that shouldn't be a problem.
@@Vileksbd Some of my university friends (Not those classmates I mentioned before) tries to study computer science in university but find it really hard 😅
Thank you! The game still has a few bugs though xD. I guess one day I could fix them, make more content to it and publish it, because the current version is too simple in my opinion, just decent enough to pass this class activity
Thank you! :D Have you ever been interested in studying computer science? In my experience I have to say its kinda hard, although it is interesting and even fascinating at the same time.
@@Vileksbd Yea I was. I took a course of it. We covered stuff like repetition structures, variables, and strings. I also learnt a little bit of python. There was almost always new homework everyday, but it was worth it.
@@lazyboi3704 Ohh nice, python is a good programming language and is used quite a bit these days. Here we also have that dynamic of doing exercises every day so as not to lose practice, I think it is the best way to learn in fact. In my case I have studied Python, Java, JavaScript, C# and Kotlin. If you have a base of Python and are interested in one day learning another language, it will be easy for you. Syntax may change a bit, but all of them uses what you have already learned basically.
@@lazyboi3704 I found it interesting to do it, I was thinking about it while I was making the game and when I finished it I started making the video. Tho the worst part was solving programming errors, I suppose you will also agree on this xD
