    Thank you so much. Very helpful material but i have one thing need to know, how to add single reference on different places, for example, i choose [1] at introduction now i want to use [1] again, let say after 3 pages, how could i use same reference again and how one can change numbering or order in menedely.
    Thanks in advance

    • @JamesAzam
      @JamesAzam  3 года назад +1

      Hi Usama, if the reference is assigned [1] on page one, next time you use it, even if it's on page 10, it will still appear as [1]. Unless I don't understand your problem. On your second question, Mendeley automatically does the numbering for you based on the referencing style's rules. Hence, if you want to change the way the numbering system works, you will have to edit the style manually, which I wouldn't advise since it will interfere with how Mendeley works. I personally don't know how to do it because it is very complicated. You can find it here www.mendeley.com/guides/csl-editor/03-making-changes-style.

    if I want to cite a reference that I found in an article what shall I do by using Mendeley?

    • @JamesAzam
      @JamesAzam  3 года назад

      You will first have to find that article online in a place like google scholar and add it to Mendeley either by downloading the citation and importing it into Mendeley, or directly from online using the Mendeley Web Importer. You will then be able to cite it.

    Hi James! Your videos are really helpful. Thank you for those. I have a question, I made a document and if I change device, do I have to manage the references in my document all over again in the new device? Will my data in Mendeley and the references that I've already put in that document be synchronised up?

    • @JamesAzam
      @JamesAzam  3 года назад +1

      Hi Maharani, whenever you sync Mendeley, it goes to the cloud so if you change devices, you will be able to re-sync your library. I am however unsure about the document aspect since I've never tried it. I think this thread on Research Gate might answer you: www.researchgate.net/post/Is-there-a-way-to-export-about-200-references-created-in-MS-word-using-manage-sources-featureof-MS-word-into-Mendeley-Zotero

    • @JamesAzam
      @JamesAzam  3 года назад +1

      Hi Nazim, please check at the timestamp 3:00, where I explain how to change styles. You should use one of the Harvard styles there by searching for "Harvard". Whenever you select one, everything is automatically updated. I would recommend you use the option that says "Cite Them Right 10th edition - Harvard (no et al)". If you don't have it on the list in the style window in Word, it's likely that you don't have it installed on your computer. Just click on "more styles". A new window will pop up. First search in the search bar on the "installed" tab. If you don't find it, Click on the tab that says "Get more styles". Search for "Cite Them Right 10th edition - Harvard (no et al)" without the quotes and click on install. After that, you'll see "use this style" on the right. Click on it and go back to word. Ensure that the style is selected. If it's not, just use the dropdown arrow to select it. Everything should automatically be updated. I hope this helps. :)

      To merge, each document needs to have citation from your mendely library. You can copy the body of one document( without the bibliography) and paste it to the body of the other document with the chosen bibliography attached. Once you do this, the bibliography merges. automatically.

    Thank you, sir, for this! I am having a challenge with APA in-text merging citations. I would like to merge it chronologically, but it's merging alphabetically by authors names. Can you help me with that? Thank you in advance.

    • @JamesAzam
      @JamesAzam  3 года назад

      Hi Maisha, I don't think that's possible with APA since it fundamentally sorts authors according to alphabetical order and only chronologically for an author with multiple citations. You can read more here: www.mendeley.com/guides/apa-citation-guide. You may have to try a different citation style if that is what you want to achieve.

    • @maishaangaza3064

      @@JamesAzam Thank you! I am adding it manually, as I discovered it is not possible.

    • @JamesAzam
      @JamesAzam  3 года назад

      @@maishaangaza3064 I'm really not a fan of manual referencing so I would not support that but if it works for you, that's okay. Also, I don't know if it'll still qualify to called the APA style after the manual ordering, since the system has its own rules about internal and external ordering.
