      Alert (p. 165). The third benefit now reads, “Other creatures don’t gain advan- tage on attack rolls against you as a result of being unseen by you.”
      It helps you if fail on your hide. It has been buffed I suppose to be effective against unseen.
      I bet you could magic mouth some rocks to sound like you casting verbal components and drop them in the fog. Maybe ball bearings. Maybe caltrops. Would be awesome in a fog cloud.
      Could totally do that if you cast invisibility too cause use an item action doesn’t break your spell. Would go awesome with a sneaky goblin. Help action doesn’t break invisibility or your hide either.

    I would be interested in a post-Tasha’s reboot of the conjurer , looking at mixing in a lot of different summoning options for different situations. I think that would be a lot of fun.

    I did a low INT wizard before before as an experiment. It works surprisingly well, so thanks for showing what is possible!
    For DMs, a low Int wizard of this type is a great bad guy, as “dumb” races are never expected to have this type in their mix.

    Loving the build, these approach remember me of my artificer/wizard. Something i greatly exploited are extra actions from conjured creatures to use items. Clever uses of unseen servants and common items as torches, caltrops, ropes (and add magic mouthed items!) are funny and surprisingly effective.

    I really love this idea! I’m starting off as a Goblin Wizard who really loves fire and this was super helpful on strategies I could use. Especially the fog cloud + hide action and choosing the language of future summons. Although I’m probs gonna go with Evocation or Order of Scribes, this was still an awesome basis!

    I never realized that Cloud of Daggers didn't require an attack roll or a saving throw. I can now see many uses for it, especially when multi-classing. I am currently playing a changling Conuuration wizard who already uses some of these tactics. He's 8th level, so I'll be very interested in the next video in the set. :)

    I always hear people say that sleep isn’t good beyond level 2 or three, but I really depends on the targets. If you are fighting a bunch of low hp goons and don’t have or don’t want to expend that third level slot on fireball then sleep is dope. I just saying that there is a spell for most situations.

    Loved your brief commentary on the Minor Conjuration ability. As a DM, I think a great way to handle that is with an appropriate skill check for spell components, alchemical components, etc. That would create a scaling difficulty, without actually prohibiting things.

  • @yosoyhansolo

    I'm curious if 'Minor Conjuration' can create a lit lantern. Does a small lantern's flame count as animate or inanimate? If we can use the ability in this way it might help us set up a non concentration fog cloud via the Pyrotechnics spell. Then again more interpretation is needed since said flame might be considered magical, meaning Pyrotechnics is off the table. Just something I've been pondering.

  • @sixty5202

    One of my favourite uses for magic mouth is creating a bunch of stones, and having the condition be "If anyone hostile to the party comes within 30 feet"
    You can use them to set up a perimiter around your campsite that takes substantially less time to set up than with the Alarm spell, and they work rather well for scouting out dungeons as well, given how far a fighter can throw said rock.
    There are also some amusing uses, such as casting it on coins, so that whenever they change hands, they breifly scream.

    Regarding 2nd lvl minor conjugation, wouldn't an obvious combat usage be conjuring crossbow bolts? The ammunition radiates magical light and would therefore be considered magical with respect to getting around normal damage resistance?
    Even if this isn't the case one could minor conjur silver or other metallurgies for their ammunition. I would think that adamantium would be out since it is a magical item but silver would be ok.
    I assume a quiver of crossbow bolts meets the definition an inanimate object and is not deemed object(s). If we are conjuring individual bolts then wasting actions would make this less viable.

    TLDR - I wish conjuration was better and wizards had more summon spells
    Conjuration was the biggest disappointment for me with 5th Edition. they went from the choice school for God-wizards to mediocre. not terrible thankfully, especially now that spell selection is far less dependent on your school selection. but wizards in general went from being the best for summoning to having most of that strength sucked out of them. most of the summon spells are evil focused (demons), and they aren't even accessible until higher levels which means that during the low tier to midtier play, where a majority of campaigns live and often die, you don't get to FEEL like a summoner or conjurer, you're basically just a generic wizard until you get 4th level spells.
    Really i'm just butthurt because my first 5e character was a gnome conjurer because I was coming out of 3.5/Pathfinder build logic, and also because I knew my DM was gonna throw alot of undead at us so I didn't expect illusions to work well despite that their abilities looked amazing. (again, this was 3.5 logic for illusions, if i knew skeletons and zombies were no longer auto immune to mindaffecting, I would have stuck with that choice for sure)

    • @TreantmonksTemple
      @TreantmonksTemple  5 лет назад +1

      Personally, because it's creative, I would probably allow it to work. However, I'm thinking by RAW, (I haven't researched this and I might be wrong) it likely would only protect you from the first HP it took to destroy the barrel

    • @44tuck3r
      @44tuck3r 5 лет назад

      Treantmonk's Temple
      I think that is probably fair.

    • @44tuck3r
      @44tuck3r 5 лет назад

      By the wording of hypnotic pattern, if a conjurer has effectively blinded themself in a barrel I wouldn’t make them save against the spell unless they come out of it, at which point they would immediately have to make the save

    • @anthonynorman7545
      @anthonynorman7545 5 лет назад

      I'm pretty sure the barrel is getting destroyed. Whether the character gets a saving throw to still take half I'm unsure of.
      But can the object hidden in be 3ft cube of something more durable than a flammable barrel? I'm not familiar with the exact wording of the conjurer's ability.

    Imagine casting Magic Mouth on a pebble and then encasing that pebble in clay. You bake it and carry it around. Now you or your party members can chuck the pebble and create a believable distraction. Trigger could be something like: When you hear a cracking sound. Or when there is light visible.

  • @CarrowMind
    @CarrowMind 4 года назад

    Minor Conjuration stipulates that the item you conjure produces an obviously magical glow right? Well with the spell Nystul's Magic Aura, a level 2 illusion you can remove that magical glow... Conjure a flawless diamond, remove the magical glow and sell it to a gem merchant for 5000g then casually walk away, you have 1 hour until the diamond disappears, more than enough time to just get out of town far enough that you'll never be found, go to another town and rinse and repeat! If you're worried about eventually getting caught due to word of mouth spread, don't be, just change your appearance with Disguise Self or better yet; Alter Self, another level 2 spell. This is a great way to get rich very quickly in a short amount of time for low level Wizards, but I don't recommend you abuse this tactic... It will just annoy your DM too much!

  • @acm4bass
    @acm4bass 5 лет назад +1

    It would be hard to give up portent but this goblin build looks fun. I like thew idea of Role playing the fog spell as tossing a gourd smoke bomb, or doing the minor conjuration as pulling stuff out of a bag, mary poppins style. Also I think if your doing crossbows that means you can pull out crossbow bolts magically.

    • @smbakeresq
      @smbakeresq 5 лет назад

      You don’t have too. Think about it, a lower INT is covered somewhat by portent, the spells you really need to land you will. Combined with Lucky you will get enough through

    • @acm4bass
      @acm4bass 5 лет назад +1

      @@smbakeresq don't get me wrong I love portent from the divination school, but its only 2 d 20 per long rest, you wouldn't depend on them. you roll those 2 d20, and they are what they are and you have to cleverly apply them whether they are high or low.... or god forbid in between. In no way does that make up for a 15-20% reduced chances than our smarter brothers.

  • @KhristianBolano

    About cantrips:
    I would swap the levels of Minor Illusion and Mending. The more you make use of Mending the better since you're using a Crossbow.
    I would consider Mind Sliver when It becomes officially playable because it targets INT and it debuffs the enemy saves, which would be very good for such a character in my opinion.
