Hey folks, thanks for checking this out. This trial run of a Nuzlocke was a bit of a learning experience when it came to the rules, process, editing, pretty much everything. I have a few tweaks planned already for the first official run, which I'll try to do soon. Any thoughts or feedback you have is appreciated as we try to make something really fun out of this series!
Awesome series. Also, Regis try out the NO EX private queue. You can get some great games in there and play off meta without worrying about EX pokemon destroying your decks. It's really fun and I hope they do some pvp events centered around EX bans.
This editing is exactly what i was hoping for when you posted your last challenge video. Kept the good games whole, cut out slow parts of some, and the spongebob "later" titlecard to skip others all together. Chef's kiss. Super engaging and also-really fun idea. Feel like there is some minor room for improvement in the conception of the challemge, though. Can't really come up with anything, but it does feel like the wheels fell off when you were making decisions about how to adapt decks after losing mons. Kinda used up fires, then burnt through colorless, and Im assuming everything else was too crappy to show when the decks got too bad? Maybe like a rule where you have to switch energy type each match...? Idk. I think you should keep at this series here and there, just throwing small changes at the wall until it starts to feel good.
I really love this challenge! I would love to see more of this. Would be amazing if this got enough interest that there would be a private match code like "NOEX" for people to play this against each other 🤷
As it's a Nuzlocke challenge you should be able to get new Pokemon in each new área you travel to. Maybe you can add a copy of the first Pokemon you defeat on each match, or a whole new pack for each win. As you're more likely to lose Pokémon than to win you'd never end up with more Pokemon but your run would be longer and more varied before running out of options.
Maybe setting a community that does private nuzlocke matches would be the way to go? IT's hard enough to win with well tuned decks and you will just have to get lucky to win like this.
Fun idea! Big meta decks are fun to watch but honestly the process of piecing together a deck from what you've got is a fun learning device for those who don't have a ton of cards!
Very cool! Another way to do a nuzlocke would be to get a fresh account and beat all the pve bots with nuzlocke rules using only the free new account hourglasses you get (i.e. now using packs generated by waiting 12 hours)
This kind of gives me vibes of Cimooooo’s masochist run on Yugioh Master Duel (in a good way)! Cool to see a similar format in another game! Edit: maybe as a way to reward wins, you can get an extra pack pull a la Cimo’s ruleset? That way you can repair your team(s) and maybe hunt for new strategies?
I know it's probably bad for youtube or viewership if it ends up being too long, but I personally would like to see the full matches. It's a little jarring to jump to the middle or end of matches only showing when someone gets knocked out. To be clear, it's fine to edit out long waiting periods like if an opponent takes too long or whatever.
iDK about streaming, but some of the community have actually started doing this. .In private mode, if you type the password NOEX, you should cue into only non-EX decks.👍
First of all, I just found your Pokémon channel. I was long time subscriber to your main one when you used to play Hearthstone (btw I finally quit Hs too 6 months ago). Second thing is that you missed big opportunity to name this channel after legendary Pokémon, Regigigas. That would be epic for sure! 😂 Well, nice to see you again here and I'm glad that you are trying out this game. Keep it up and wish you good luck in your life. 😊
Man, this could be so awesome if they added it as a mode in-game. These kinds of challenge runs are always community lead though and never adopted by the developers, unfortunately.
Fair enough! I'm surprised pokemon never added a nuzlocke mode or a spinoff game in the same spirit, considering how popular it is even outside of the community (one LoL youtuber had a nuzlocke challenge a while ago)
I saw the NOEX private server and i think a NUZLOCKE server can catch on fire, or maybe try a nuzlocke vs. other youtuber where every defeat or victory gives a pack or some rule idk. Cool concept, i see u're enjoying it too. Recently decided to swap HS to this, saw it first on ur channel!
That was fun! Great idea. Maybe you can improve your chances so that every point you get, you get a wonder pick. And every victory, you get a new pack. Could get expensive fast. (If you already own the cards in a wonder pick you could just roll for it IRL and use it from your deck to save the cash)
This was very entertaining and you have now encouraged me to run my Pokemon X and Y Nuzlocke. I planned to do one but shied out then didn't have the time, but I'll start it tomorrow lol
Very fun idea. Though I think when you lost the Ninetails you might have had more success pivoting out of Fire at that point, dropping the Blaines and going maybe Water (Starmie/Lapras) or Grass (Executor) or something instead.
I think you should get a new booster per win. Or even per point taken maybe? But getting new boosters mid run would improve it a lot, because it creates hope, suspense, unexpected turn arounds...
If I was going to do this a second time the number of cards in an evolution you actually pull is the number of "lives" that evolution has. So each of your 9tails would have 2 lives because you pulled the Vulpix and 9tails for two evos
very cool idea, enjoyed it v much! i wonder if your evolution rule should actually work in both directions?? its not like putting a venosaur in your deck guarantees you draw it! and in the games, if you get a pokemon with a good evolution, you can always grind it up in tall grass before trying to take on trainers with it! also, you are always gonna go up against much better decks, what if each victory is a gym badge? maybe that allows you to add a pokemon of your choice to the pool? or maybe thats how you "earn" evolutions or EX versions of your pokemon?
Since in Pokémon games youd be able to evolve the pokémon you get, the rule for stage 2s (or 1 too) should be that if you get part of the evolution line in the packs you just get access to all 3. That way you dont draw an evolution without getting the basic and have it be a waste or just get the basic without the others and get stuck without the evolutions. You dont have to keep pokémon in their first form in nuzlockes
So to clarify, we did go DOWN in evolutions, so if we got a Stage 2, I allowed myself Stage 1s and basics to fill in, but I didn't go UP in evolutions. I'm just worried that might make it too easy. I may try it though. There's a tipping point somewhere, it's hard to find the right spot.
@@mcaelm Yeah you might be right, I need to do more runs to find the sweet spot. I'm planning on adding a Wonder Pick lifeline kinda element, where I get to pick a blew bonus cards from Wonder Pick options.
Your non-pokemon cards in decks should be unlimitedly flexible - especially if you're going up against non-Nuzlock players. Having your hand bricked by Blaines with only 1 Rapidash in deck wasn't great. Given the heavy disadvantage, there needs to be other 'win-states' other than winning games. Maybe point milestones that give 'prizes' (prizes very thematic for paper tcg). Prizes can vary and be anything - open more packs, add 'lives' to certain pokemon, Wonder picks, 'Retreat Tokens' (allow you to concede), 'Capture Tokens'' (add Pokemon to your pull from defeated Pokemon i.e. catch them) etc Can't think of many other features. The client doesn't allow for much...
Do this on the NOEX server. You totally should have gotten another point when you won that game for fainting their final Pokémon Perhaps you can open a new pack for every win and also every 5 points.
Hello my friend, I play Pokémon pocket I do enjoy the battling, the cards, and the game in many ways. However I do have some irritations about the game. They as follows: 1) the battle system, I have noticed that I come across one too many Mewtwo Ex deck users. Let's say it feels like the system locates players with Mewtwo Ex & pits them against you often. I'm quite aware many players use mewtwo Ex still back 2 back though? Or too often?. The game clearly seems to favor Mewtwo Ex from personal experience, on top of that it seems based on what people say Mewtwo Ex has little weaknesses to exploit while others have more. Second it's about how the battle system how it distrubutes items, Pokémon and support card's as well, for example when it comes to other players you're going up against he/she seems to have the goddess of luck on their side 😂😢a bit too conveniently while I sometimes barely get anything worth a damn or to add insult to injury a big bowl of squat. I know it varies with each battle but to me that game puts me in these situations a bit too often like the algorithm learns to put me in many unfair situations and last but not least the coin toss it's supposed to be 50/50 but to me it's more like I get 75/25 where I get first with a additional of barely anything to work with or nothing at all.
I think this is a fun idea but would be more interesting to me if your opponent was also under the same restrictions. Maybe you could make this a challenge series with other creators?
It's all kinda semantics, but that would be more of a Draft mode idea, and could be its own fun thing. The difficulty is a fundamental part of the Nuzlocke run, winning against all odds sorta thing.

That would be a good addition. Hope he sees this. Everytime he wins he gets to pull one more pack
Maybe instead he could do 10x of each pack? Maybe that's a bit much though
@@Deathnom Maybe like open 2-3 packs per point?
Maybe setting a community that does private nuzlocke matches would be the way to go? IT's hard enough to win with well tuned decks and you will just have to get lucky to win like this.
Crazy idea for a series, excited to see more
The 'free' box in the Regis video bingo card is that he starts the video with a 'yeah'.

You should be able to open 10 extra packs every win to simulate the "1 pokemon per route" rule
Great vid!
Basically this is like a draft, and who doesn’t like the idea of a draft. It’s very cool. Again, I have no idea what’s going on, but it’s very cool.
Fun to watch, I’d also just sit and watch people play non EX decks against each other. Special Guest creator perhaps?

@ratspew932 you're surprised? Lol. GF are the laziest, most uninspired developers ever.
@@joeparas true, and I'm only surprised because I'm unreasonably optimistic sometimes

I liked this a lot. This could be some excellent content for YTubers
This is great! Very fun first trial. Looking forward to better future iterations!
This video is gonna be crazy popular and you’re gonna want to make more of them!!!
19:28 debatable the funnest part of nuzlockes you can make your own rules for you own fun it’s amazing
Yes please do more, this was really fun to watch
Great video. I think there should be one pack rewards after every 3 wins, or something like that to introduce surprises.
super original and cool concept, keep 'em coming!

Definitely would like to see you do this again with the other 2 packs 😁 This is a great idea and great execution 😆
Oof only 1 win that's rough
I love the format. Hope to see more.
one more pack per win would be cool too
Regis you are looking extra dashing today
I think you should get a new booster per win. Or even per point taken maybe? But getting new boosters mid run would improve it a lot, because it creates hope, suspense, unexpected turn arounds...

Sort of unrelated but i do think it would be cool to see you try one of the main pokemon games sometime
Good idea you should have a prize for winning open 1 pack of same 10 you opened. You got me to like and subscribe
If I was going to do this a second time the number of cards in an evolution you actually pull is the number of "lives" that evolution has. So each of your 9tails would have 2 lives because you pulled the Vulpix and 9tails for two evos
To make this a more sustainable series, you should try and find a method to simulate opening packs instead of buying gold
This was painful to watch but also very enjoyable! I think if you get a win you should be able to open a new pack!

This and draft mode could be great by starting a new account and opening the tutorial boosters
You should have done this on a NOEX run seen as you didn't draw any EX you can use, would have been a fairer experience on yourself
Would love to see how you iterate on this challenge
7:53 and this my people is call “sacking” in the nuzlocke community 😁
He’s a GENIUS
I like the idea, but what if you did a point system, each evo line has 3 points they can lose before they are unusable.
Neat idea!
Could you please let me know what program do you use to play this game on your desktop?
It could be interesting to see you do wins = pack opens? Just so you have chance to turn around poor starts with runs if you're skillful
don't know what's going on the past few days cant seem to pulled a professor research to save my life
Buy one for two of the shop points
Do this on the NOEX server.

Is this what Pokemon Masochist will look like I feel like bits harder than Yugioh Master Duel Masochist😅
