G'day, lemons! Have you ever seen the TwoSetViolin video of young beginner progress of Yo Eun Seol? She plays "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" at age 2 and the Fiocco Allegro in competition at age 4.
I learned this many years ago when I was about 11 years old. I gave up playing the violin when I was about 16 to focus on other instruments and although I have made a career of being a musician I regret giving up the violin simply because I used to get such enjoyment from playing this piece. If you are learning, stick with it. I would love to be able to pick up a violin and play this again now.
I like his embellishments. It is how fast I learned it. Surprising after a decade of not playing it, it came back close to tempo within a few days of play throughs. Muscle memory is amazing.

It's ok that Fiocco thought this normal speed, but imagine 100 normaly talented but not extra talented violin players who learn this play. What do you think, how many of them can play it in this speed? Itzak Perlman an amazingly talented artist and its so beautiful when he playes this play, but everiday people aren't Itzak Perlman!

Absolutely Magnificent! I had the pleasure of Seeing Perlman playing at the Royal festival hall in London many years ago and it was an evening I will never forget. as to the 105 who disliked Grrr is it jealousy or do these idiots just travel round the internet disliking things....even if you didn't like the tune ( which I find hard to believe) his talent, and technique is beyond compare :-)
Belleza y maestría de principio a fin. Mil gracias por compartir tan maravillosa interpretación. Mil gracias por compartirla. ¡FELICITACIONES!💚💙💛🧡♥️🔆🌷🍀🎶🎵👏🎆✨🤶🎅
Ok so it is good at a speed where you can maintain consistency and expression. He does that plus adds some extra style of his own. This might be too fast a speed for you and me but if he can consistently keep up like he is doing, it's a good tempo. I would say for this piece that 80-140 bpm are all acceptable performance tempos depending on your level.
I played this at one of my solo/ensemble contests. I played everything correct except the judge thought I played too fast. So instead of getting a 1 (being the best) I got a two. I feel cheated #sadface
@@levlev.1028 my notes say this is at 95 or 96. I don't have a metronome handy but I'm pretty sure perlman is playing much faster than that. As long as the interpretation is beautiful then who really cares how fast you play it.
@@ivan_says_hi I do believe there is two types of going fast, playing a piece quickly and still maintaining intonation and balance with good string crossings.... and then there's rushing. Maybe @AnthonyDiamond's judges meant to say he was rushing, not going fast but I could very well be wrong.
This piece is beautiful on the viola too. It's actually very technically demanding to play this piece well. Anyone can play it, but to get all the appropriate stylistic features takes some real skill. It's only after 7 years of playing the viola, completing grade 8, and working on my diplomas that I feel I can do this piece justice. It sounds simple but really isn't. The ornamentation in particular takes a lot of expertise.
Hannah Mireles my biggest advice would be to build up the speed gradually (my teacher calls it rocking up the metronome!) defo helps me :) such a hard but pretty piece!
Learning this now. With about 4 years violin experience, about a month in and I’m not doing bad. Definetly a challenge, got 3 more months to do what I gotta for solo and ensemble.
I began playing this when I was nine--way back in another century. I never achieved this sort of speed of course; but I think the trick, whatever the speed at which you play, is to try to keep it very light. Never dig in with the bow; and don't overemphasize any one note.
Disagree -- students should learn how to hold the sound in their detache at forte. Afterwards they can experiment with different kinds of bowing. Do agree about not overemphasizing any one note. It's more about grouping than singling notes out.
Emma luo you can't unless you are like extremely good at shifting. You can only really play it on violin unless you play like a revised version which might sound weird
Lieke Noom depends how good you are. Ive been playing for around a year and a half and am trying to learn this and almost comepletly got it. I can play it at the speed on the video but not messing up once or twice or slowing down

Fiocco wrote this as a harpsichord solo originally. Always odd how it's been adopted as part of the fiddle repertoire for such a long time!
