I can't thank you enough! I took apart "new" jotol stove to move and clean it and forgot where all the parts inside went. You showed the exact same stove my son got me on Craig's list.
I am trying to decide between a Jotul 8 and a Jotul 3CB. The only big difference I see is that the 8 is slightly larger and that it doesn't have an ash pan. However, for my application I think it is better sized, however, I would need to convert the 8 to a 6" pipe... Which should I get?
Thank you.Im not happy with the draft. My Russo had a greater draft..before I take-out for resale il pull top cover to see where 12 mm gasket should go; however qhen I light a match there is no sucking at top cover nor does it smoke One more ? Can I buy a replacement log holder for bottom front I had to make one...and yes I was careful to not block intake control of draft
As the Jotul 8 has No Grate system, there is No “Under Fuel Air Supply”, this makes the jotul 8 quite a trick to light, especially with slightly under seasoned wood. Plus, the chimney needs to be quite tall for a good draught to pull through the stove. It’s not an unusual problem with jotul 8. Fantastic stove though……..when it’s going!!
Very good video. Does anyone know if the exterior main panels are mounted with high temperature rope joint or high temperature joint putty? The door and the top of the wood-burning stove are assembled with high-temperature sealing rope. Thank you very much.
Thanks for the comment. Normally those joints would be done in the Fire cement, to keep the body more Rigid, and to make sure the Joints all fit completely together. But there’s no reason why a rope can’t be used as long as it’s not to thick as to keep the joints seating fully.
Great video, but I’m curious how you replace the front plate. One of my door hinges broke and I’m trying to replace the front plate but I’m not sure how to. Any help would be appreciated.
I figured it out. Just had to remove an exterior cover plate from the back. Somehow, the catalyst had gotten misaligned and was blocking the flow. That and abominable ash buildup in that chamber. Wonder what I've been religiously paying sweeps for all these years. Never saw one check the cat.
This guy is not very bright , why the hell would you do everything through the door when the top is open??? Got my inner replacements today after using my fireplace for 14 years and found it very easy to assemble via the top not the door. My supplier said both side sleeves are the same so there isn’t a left or right one.
Janet Michel - when the stove is installed with the flue going out of the top, and do not want to remove the stove and Top plate.....then everything can go Through The Front Door!! This was the reason I did the video like that.
Thank you! Just bought a second hand disassembled. Thank you!!!!!

Thank you, had to replace burnt out parts and your sequence made it so easy, thanks again.
so helpful for my work on my jotul 3td the sequence is the same and this was just so helpful

Helpful. Thanks. Had to disassemble for moving/cleaning, this helped piece it back together.
How do you take out the front plate? Trying to replace mine but I’m stumped.

Is that glass just floating!?

The main panels are held together with bolts. So it would be a bit tricky. Especially if the bolts are seized.
Glad you found it useful.
Is there any corking or cement between the top Lid and the main stove ? Have a little smoke leaking from top left side.
Hi. Yes there is a bead of Fibreglass rope, all the way round the lid.
It is about 12mm diameter rope.
Regards
Jan
where does the ash collect, I don't see a grill or a pan.
Handsome Rob you have to shovel it out just about everyday before you make a fire
Handsome Rob I have this same wood stove
How you clean ash , therre is no ash tray ? How often do you clean ash , daily
Robert Djordjevic you leave Most of the ash in there. It's a Woodburner, so you burn the wood on the ash pit.
how much this cost back then
Do you bolt the lid down (the top)?
No. It is a Floating Top.
thanks mate, helpful!
Leo Van Cleynenbreugel no problem
Thanks for info.
good video
But...what about catalytic converter and so on?
There’s no Catalytic converter on the Jotul 8.
@@comafilters My Series 8 has a catalytic converter and the stove looks just like yours. It might be just certain years of that model.
Ahh, is it in USA?
@@comafilters Yes! And it's from the 90's.

I got the base plate it through the door.
Im about to buy a used one
You must work at the factory. These stoves come pre-assembled.
Pity you've got some stupid comments, excellent vid 👍
