Shatner’s hairpiece is outstanding.
Lol
It STILL is 😂
FASCINATING.......ITS A WIG JIM
Love Mr. Shatner!!! ❤
So do I.Have you watched T.J Hooker? It's on RUclips and well worth a watch for all Shatner fans.
Bill is 51 in this interview, he looks great.
Shatner seems so reserved in this interview because he's talking to a legend
Love your comment. He probably was a little nervous.Did you watch T.J Hooker in the 80's?Such an amazing tv show.
@@BrianKitching-wv5nh I did!
Later in life Shatner becomes a legend
Bill knows his craft and always gives us a good performance. What more to expect of an actor?
*"The US Federal Aviation Administration has officially designated William Shatner as an astronaut."* --- Shatner was awarded his official astronaut wings in December, 2021 after a short hop into space. He boldly went where no man had gone before -- at age 90.* 🚀👀
i like how Johhny throws in a nonexistent H - “Are you a-where of what you’re doing?”
William Shatner is the coolest of the cool!
In many ways he's more impressive because he has had to overcome some natural limitations. He's not the classic action hero. But he has actually got a good heart and he's a good leader, that's the kind of person you want.
That initial exchange between Shatner and Doc, was not very friendly.
Doc actually looked pretty pissed. Maybe Shatner said, "Hello Ed". 😂
What an amazing career Shatner has had. He is so relevant even Jeff Bezos wanted him to fly up into space.
I wonder if the TNG cast ever appeared on Carson or Late Night. I don’t see anything online besides this one.
Love johnny 👍🇬🇧
Interesting that 40 years ago “They” were talking about defending the police.
Look at those shoes!
I can’t get past that I’m looking at the Micheal Myers mask
The T.J. Hooker bouffant!
Dude is insane.
The rumor is Johnny actually disliked William, maybe he didnt like his story.
Why doc looked so mad at shatner
With all due respect to Shatner that is a terrible looking wig. The story of him chasing a rat in the snow and naked was hilarious.
Great toup, Bill.
G-D SAVE THE QUEEN SAS SOE MI5 MI6 WW1 WW2 IRAN IRAQ AFGHANISTAN NATO & SO MANY MORE CAMPAIGNS✡🕎😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀 G-D BLESS AL MURRAY RULER OF THE UNIVERSE
God Bless people that post comments totally irrelevant to the topic.
Kids watching this clip today will be struck by the intensity, quietness and focused nature of this interview. Oh how things have changed.
David Topchiev Parents were saying similar stuff about the 1980's.....
Well said. Carson was great at asking good questions and letting the guests talk. He knew the right time to come in with a joke or quip
Bill Shatner is a great actor..one of my favorites.
And still alive to this day!
He’s not a great actor but he is iconic.
@@Fatsaver And with 92 years old !! :)
His socks and shoes belong in the 23rd century. Even for the 80's, they are out of this world!
Carson was the best! A golden era for late night
Man Johnny wore some nice suits
I remember him as the host of Rescue911
"Just where.......doyouthinkyou'regoing?" Shatner style!
They sure don't do interviews like they used to. The host actually listened back then.
amazing to see all these old clips added
this is soo cool I've been waiting to see an interview with William Shanter on johnny carson for a long time, and it even makes it awesome to see because my favorite show was new when he came on this show. I love T.J. Hooker you could still watch it on tv today, how cool is that.
Two of my HEROS,,
I am with you there brother!
You mean Shatner and his rug?
@@Markis5150 😆
I'm not used to Shatner being so serious!!
This is how he used to be for much of his career. Only in the last 15-20 years or so, he really took a comedic turn.
This is quality entertainment, genuine, funny and feels natural, not like today, everything feels setup, like so fake and if it doesn't get the reaction they want, just throw is some false laughs.Television today is so bad I gave away my TV,it made me angry just listening watching the dribble that being shoved into my face.Maybe I will get a TV again some day and just watch re-runs of old shows that were good.
I got rid of my TV two years ago, your not missing anything accept the lies the news spills.
"That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard - go!" :-D
I LOVE LEONARD NEMOYS CHARACTER SPOCK, EVER SINCE I WAS A TEENAGER IN THE 60'S. AT FIRST I DID NOT LIKE HIS LOOKS, BUT AS TIME WENT ON GREW TO LOVE HIM ( CUZ HE SORT OF GREW ON PEOPLE). I THEN CAME UP WITH THE NICK-NAME, SPOCKY BABY & HAVE CALLED HIM THAT EVER SINCE. REST IN PEACE SPOCKY BABY, SIR LEONARD NEMOY.
Some jerk has watched all the Johnny videos and clicked dislike. One single jerk. Johnny Carson was the greatest icon television has ever, and will ever know.
I love how people make fun of fashions of the past like the clothes they wear today won't look silly in 20 or 30 years.
…such fantastic poise. I wish there were more like him.
He was so gorgeous
Yeah. He's so polite too. It's just refreshing
I love that one. I woudl have to say I have so many, but I like Space Seed. Montalban is so awesome!
He was brilliant, and again, with that typical class and style of his age.
would you still love him once he took of his rug?
That toupee tho...
These two are almost contemporaries shatner being 51 and carson 57 at the time, but Carson seems much older I think.
whateverpbk Bill’s epic toupee doesn’t hurt...
Two of my departed grandmother's favorite celebs were (1st) Elvis Presley and (2nd) William Shatner - but mainly Shatner's TJ Hooker series. She loved Star Trek but TJ Hooker was her man! You just didnt talk smack about Elvis or Shatner to her face - lol. She would have throw poor George Takei to the floor with a killer headlock for dissin Shatner. :-D
Would she have thrown Nichelle Nichols to the floor for dissin' The Shat?
My two favorite people. Elvis and Bill!!!
Great Hair.
Nice clogs, Bill! LOL
Bill seems so serious in this interview I miss his sense of humor
Well, when I watch to this, I have to say that David Lettermann does a really, really good Johnny Carson impersonation...
Shatner is only six years younger than Carson.
Wow! Didn't realise that.
Oh my that head of hair.
He's not "bald" he just has a receding hairline and in stagelights it looks thinner still. His "rug" is only a bit at the front.
TJ Hooker made me become a police officer...
Stonecoldcwbys Star trek made me become a star ship captain.
I'm typing this message from jupiter.
Please, I just found Voyager 1 and im from 3012.
Did he put a gun to your head?
Fuck, TJ Hooker was so amazing. I wish season 3-5 would be on DVD already, I had to download them in shite quality.
Interesting clip if for no other reason than Shatner on Carson was very rare as stated - you can see Shatner's humour (like it or not) coming through. Wow just as TJ Hooker was starting, talk about a flashback. Glad he lost the hair (and those clothes), too bad his face exploded :)
That "bit" Shatner said he did at the improv sounded absolutely terrible, he probably bombed XD.
...that head of UNhair..
That must have been how he became The Big Giant Head on "3RD Rock from the Sun."
Shatner is interesting!
Two things: Shatner has loads more fun on talk shows now. Secondly, the audience applause sounded awfully light.
lol...great line ...they were some fkd up shoes ..and i bet u he cant get in those pants anymore ...lol
In the actor's studio with Johnny Carson.
Phil Hartman!
Lol “I was going where no man has gone before”-W.S
What a Hammy thing to say. Pure Shatner. Lol 🙄
Shatner still kinda took himself seriously at this point
At least he wasn't chasing a tribble nude!
lol my youtube clip kept pausing and yes the body language and eye contact sure looks that way lol I agree dont think carson liked him
it was jay leno! lol
And what about Bill... Gosh he looks SO young, and different than he is today, but... that doesn't change what he is and hwat he's done for us all.
Denny Crane
Yes 😊
Look how skinny Shatner was !
Bill and Johnny hit it off good. Sad how the breath of men goes away in life. But Jesus promised to restore our life if we abide in Him.
William Shatner has a giagantic head.
Why is their a dead tribble on his head?
Lol!
..... Shatner or Carson. And, yes.
Revelation from this interview: Kirk sleeps in the nude....that's all I needed to know!
He sleeps with his rug on.
fashion lol... :)
Is he wearing dress mules??? I sure don't remember those as a fashion statement for men.
I would argue it the other way... the interviewer is asking intelligent questions, and Shatner is using very good dry humour...
bizarre space shoes Shatner is wearing.....probably he got them as leftovers from a Star Trek set.
What about his bizarre hairpiece? He' wasn't fooling anyone with it. LOL.
I second that, what a wig that is. Oh man that thing is overkill.
Johnny looks tired here. Puffy-eyed...
When Shatner shook hands with Doc, Shatner barely made eye contact with him. You can see his reaction wasn't favorable as Shatner sat down. This was Shatner's arrogant phase..
I like Shatner, but his story is bogus.
Good grief. Would it have killed Carson to do a little research before the interview?
That's the joke.
I do not think Carson was much of a Shatber fan--I do not think he ever appeared on the show other than this appearance and Shatner was not being funny. Still trying to be a serious actor at this time.
Wow...could those shoes get any more gay? WTF?
At least Joan rivers didn't interview him here. I hate that bitch she can't even talk without stuttering.
Mister William 'I need to be the center of the Universe' Shatner giving a completely pointless and shitty interview on the Tonight show. No wonder everyone who worked with him hated his ass.
God this is boring
could he look gayer?
shatner is such a douche bag. And Carson plays him like a fiddle.
