Always check a diagonal when lines are up. More accurate than doing a 345 on a smaller scale. I pulled a porch down that was 50mm out of parallel in 2 meters so any thing you build is better than that
Always good to help your parents out ! And you just know You’re Mum is going to spoil you with tea breaks. Shame about Drew , Hopefully he comes back and continues his apprenticeship as you come across as a very good teacher ! Respect m8 keep cracking on.
Thanks Jim! Yea trying to help them best I can when I'm free! Always hard to squeeze stuff in like this, but it'll get there! Waiting to hear from Drew to see the score 👌
Tremendous video. Great to see the initial laying out process.even if I don’t fully understand it. Your parents must very proud of you and your skills. Looking forward to seeing more. 🍺

Great stuff fella, don’t worry if people try and say you’re ocd or whatever, the peace of mind you have knowing that the extra checks and time spent measuring was well worth it. You know that when you’re back to build the rest that everything is spot on and there will be no issues 👍👍

Hi mate, sorry for the delayed response! You use block and beam when the ground slops away from the house and it wouldn't be economical to back fill it all with stone to get it to Finish floor level ☺️
@@IzzytheBricky ah ok many thanks for explaining. I find building houses fascinating. I’m a pilot and watch your vlogs all over the world usually at strange times of the night… captures my attention. Well done 👏

Hi Izzy, quick question from a non builder. When would you use block and beam for a floor? Compared to what you are doing on this extension.
Hi mate, sorry for the delayed response! You use block and beam when the ground slops away from the house and it wouldn't be economical to back fill it all with stone to get it to Finish floor level ☺️

Cheers mate! Always nice to get your support 🍻☺️
Very informative Izzy - thanks. Given that the extension has taken up 70% of the garden do you need to get full PP instead of PDR?
Thanks Matt! Appreciate it! It's just PDR, as it's detached and not oo close to anyone elses property...I think anyway...I'll double check though!

Thank you mate!
Nice information as always. The blocks you lay on the trench, are they a medium density or lightweight?
Thank you very much! Really tryed to explain a few things! They feel pretty light weight mate, but can't be sure
My bungalow is built using interlocking brieze no perps no problem.
Awesome mate! It's just so common for us bricklayes to perp up anything we lay .always done it...but huge huge time saver

Should of checked diagonals when lines were up, never ever trust anything your coming off house could be a mile out
Mum gets to clean the van and cook the dinner, how sexist 🤣 🤣🤣 you're a good lad doing that for your parents, well done 👏

How. Come you laid another 100mm block and not just another trench then you’d still have your 225mm below insulation
Good question buddy, I didn't have enough trench blocks ☺️
Why not just check it with a tape instead of running it out dry?
Great question! I did initially, but when I did it didn't work at all, so sometimes I run it out dry to picture how tight or big the joints will look👌
@@IzzytheBricky fair enough mate!
