This is a “simple but effective” breakdown. I didn’t wanna breakdown the obvious or stuff that I believe you can figure out with your own style. A lot of people truly are confused at what 17 does and can do. So I went over something that could improve them and make them wanna play the character 😁

Small correction, but the Air Rekkas are their own thing entirely, you can still reverse rekka out of them for more mixup options.
EDIT: Here are some other tips too.
Acrobatic Assault is great for connecting after a barrier punish for a really easy rejump when you're midscreen or in the one who is in the corner, just 4S after it connects. It's also amazing for extending combos after a vanish if you don't think you can land it from the ground. Not to mention that since you can now actually do things out of it, it's a relatively safe way to end a rekka blockstring. Just be prepared to fast fall barrier/ heavy fall 2H. There is a small window where you can be superdashed, but it's a matter of handful of frames if you're going with heavy/barrier, still, don't do it too much.
Light air QCB crosses up crouching opponents, and standing ones if you do it in the air. Also can cross back if you want to fake an IAD crossup, just remember that the inputs flip so treat it like the elbow. When you have an assist that is a ton of visual noise, Like Piccolo's A, this gets really annoying for your opponent.
Your 5x strike rekka, is an unscaled starter, abuse it maliciously.
The barrier can combo into both forward and reverse light rekka in the corner without smash, coupled with the aerial rekkas, you can do 3 barrier blasts in one combo. It's not optimal, but you establish dominance real quick.
Tiger knee technique + 236H = Overhead with as low as 18 frame startup (though you need frame perfect timing so expect it to be usually around 22-23). The scaling is about as bad as a ki confirm, but man does it scare your opponent.
Goku's B assist turns 17 into a one-man death machine.

Like, for example, 2H serves the same purpose as 2LLL if you want to do a blockstring.
And you can cancel his 5S into rekkas if you want to annoy your opponent into superdashing then make them suffer for it.
And his heavy barrier blast jails into vanish if on block. Use this as a last resort to reset neutral if you tried to bait a mash and it didn't work. 17 seems to be positive after the vanish in most cases, but it's inconsistent.
Now if only I had a defensive game, I wouldn't be stuck in Pride Trooper, but I've beaten Angels and even the #1 guy on PC until they realized that I got nothing if I have to block.
@@joelnelson4228 don't forget the ex reverse rekka can hit same side.
@@BakariEnglishJr Yeah it can, but in my experience, the mixup utility is limited since you can only cancel the during the spin and you have to be playing someone who somehow has the speed to react to the EX reverse rekka the second the circle comes out but doesn't have the game sense to know to avoid switching sides until he actually crosses over/.
It would be a pretty nifty buff if holding it meant that he would attack the same side instead being another fake.
regular rejumps are easier than the 236s ones

I agree, I'm trying to figure out 17 myself but thx to JRK I think I'm starting understand him a little bit better now.
17 is one of my favorite characters in DBS and Fighterz and this man is giving me power that I shouldn't be wielding

The Vega wall jumps are also for when you wanna show off in a combo. They pair nicely with Beerus A-Assist.

I have been using 17 since he dropped, he is so much fun and has a certain swagger to him and I'm so thankful for his season 3 buffs.even tho I'm pretty much seasoned with him I'm always looking up new tech for him

mashing rekkas is also good for conditioning with ex reverse rekka since it will be same side rather than crossup
I like comboing with light air rekka with combo extension mid screen sometimes. I even was labbin' with blue vegeta A assist and got a conversion off it. It ain't optimal but it's fun to get off if timed right
I have mained 17 since he came out. I agree with everything in the video except I like to use the wall bounce a bit more then you. I think this is a decent guide for the new guys out their to get started with 17.
17 is a character I've considered dropping bardock for cause he seems he would help base Vegeta at mid-range with his A assist and hes super sick. I'll keep yall updated with my progress with him when I take him to the lab! XD
