But its better when its original or at least a twist on established lore and places. The render and environment design is really good. Great post process effects that make it look very real, straight out of the a camcorder. So props on that.
just saying the lvl 33 was actually the further you go the more run down the place until its like a big pool of dead fish and rust in the wiki but love the vid
Greetings! First I want to say that this is a great video and I've watched a LOT of these “backrooms found footage” vids now (in addition to having a film/writing/vfx background myself). I'd love to give you a few more specific bits of feedback, if I may. If you just want to instead take the “Great job” and skip the rest, I totally understand :-) Okay, so here goes: 1) I think the sound design you use is really top-notch, from the thumping footsteps to the door sounds and music, they all work and they all add to the overall tone and effect you are going for. Well done there! 2) That being said, I believe this work would actually be a lot stronger without the narration/dialogue aspect. Yeah, I know that “the oldest view” does it, and a lot of others as well, but I personally find that unless your spoken word really adds something we couldn't get through the visual narrative alone (the MC in oldest view, for example, is at first sure he will eventually return and post the vid and then later he's just trying to survive/escape), well, I think that the silence can further reinforce the atmosphere you are attempting. If the entire “backrooms found footage” genre is taken as a sort of “less is more” exercise, then this is probably one of the core ideas that follow that. 3) I LOVE the dreamlike way in which nothing stays in focus very long, words are distorted but familiar, and the entire setting feels both familiar and also slightly off. To me, this is actually done even better than “the oldest view” as that vid leaned into the familiarity of its setting, and this one twists that familiarity into the abstract logic of a nightmare. Similarly, while I'm not sure if the addition of an established character was a specific choice or just an expedient use of an available render, I find that it actually helps to reinforce this dreamlike atmosphere. Yes, we sometimes run from abstract and original nightmares, but often they instead take the form of things already familiar to us, which this is... so it really works for me. 4) I was a little disappointed at the MC not exploring more of the environment, as I feel that is one of the best ways in which this genre creates both atmosphere and tension. What you have is good, but I also felt that the space we are shown is small enough that I never really felt lost or uncertain. Obviously, this could simply be a technical limitation as I know that creating these environments and renders is both incredibly time consuming from the construction side AND even more so when you try to export them. Still, I'd love to get more of a “lost” feeling from your environments in future videos. If we step aside from Kane Pixel's work, I'd look at some of the videos that “Ruster” does for a good idea of what I'm talking about. This obviously isn't a big thing, as you did manage to capture a very similar effect in a significantly shorter run-time, but just something to consider is all. And that's about it really! Thanks for sharing your talent with the world and I look forward to seeing what you come up with next!
I love your backrooms, in toronto there this old building downtown brookfield place i think, like and old building but covered with modern roof, when i entered there it felt like backrooms, like this old building randomly being there under this modern structure, amazing, i was there all alone in this giant hallway, so cool. this is super just keep making these, i really hope one day we start seeing videos of wanderers finding some “cheats” to a actually return to reality and exposing the whole thing

But it's so dark where he zooms in. Did I miss the part of the video where he stumbles across it stationary? I may or may not be stoned.
I think there was something silhouetted in the darkness ahead that moved but it's hard to tell due to the lighting and camera movement in addition to the immediate jump cut.
