    I played Risk back in High School with several classmates very regularly. We were 16-17 years old, That was in 1979-1980. It was a blast and probably kept us out of trouble. Here it is 2023 and 2 of the guys and their wives drove here to Kentucky (where I landed after retirement) and we had a game night. We’ve periodically gathered to play and those geographically close have continued game nights! I just purchased Risk Strike with the intention of playing it with my 91-yr-old Dad. He is in a wheelchair now and needs stimulation and this seems the perfect game because of the shorter time involved (unlike our marathon Risk games of our youth!) and compatible with a smaller space to play. I’ve read the instructions and am checking out the videos so we can hit the ground running, or battling, when it’s time to play. Thank you for making this video! I’m 61 now and appreciate the help!

      :) Thank you for checking out the video! Aye, it's a fairly straight forward game, not terribly complex, we picked it up and started playing within 10 minutes of opening it. Please return and let me know how the first battle went!

      That's awesome. We had a good group in highschool back 1999 lol. Sadly lost touch with all of them. Great memories though.

    I like the artwork on the cards and I like the coins. I like it when things are made of plastic instead of cardboard.

      @@gamemasters Haha, fair enough, usually when we play, the escalation from being forced to turn in cards means that eventually someone gets 40+ troops and it's pretty much game over from there. Especially if they take out another player and steal those cards too.

      Just depends on the players and strategies. I have played mostly 1-3 hours games in my life. But when I was growing up I remember my parents and their friends had a table they played on that would be set up with one game that would last several weekends.

      I'd say they could fit into standard magic the gathering sized card sleeves, might need multiple colors as there are different types of cards.

      its a neat little game in a small box, but has a fair amount of complexity so that it's interesting. Once played you can certainly see a connection to the board game, yet at the same time it's different enough so you aren't thinking "I should just be playing the board game".

    The rules phase 2 say : 3. After the attacker and the defender have deployed troop card,OTHER PLAYERS may deploy troop cards from their hands to HELP the attacker or the defender.
    My question is, the other player are only from the same continent, continent conected or any continent??

    • @gamemasters
      @gamemasters  10 месяцев назад +1

      from how we played it, it's from any continent. Honestly, it makes sense from a connected one....

    How does he “surrendered” cards work when the attacking player place them on the surrendered cards after losing a battle, can not find it in the rules

    • @gamemasters
      @gamemasters  11 месяцев назад +1

      Under Game Setup, (7) it says _designate a space in the center of play for surrendered continent cards. Players will be able to draw from this lineup throughout the game._
      Then on the Under Your Turn sections, the box to the side states: _Note: You can draw fromn the currendered continent cards._
      An example pertaining to your question can be found on the "inside" 4th panel: _Olga, the attacker, must surrender one attacking continent card because the defender wins in the case of a tie. That continent card is placed faceup in the surrendered continent space._
      hope that helps :)

    If you have placed two or three squad cards, can you also cancel the attack if you lose a squad card? And what then happens to the already activated squad cards that are still on the defender or attacker? And can you also change the attacking continent in one turn, so that you can attack other players from a different one or choose a different continent from the already defending player?

    • @gamemasters
      @gamemasters  8 месяцев назад

      if you lose the card, it's gone, if it in effect causes you to not be able to finish the attack, then that continent has been successfully defended. That's how I've interpreted it anyways.

    How is the print on the back side of the black tactics cards? It´s uneven on mine (the pattern is pulled to far down or up) - your opponents can basically guees some of the card on your hand.

      @gamemasters  Год назад +1

      ooh, I'll take a look at mine when I get home. That didn't jump out at me when I was looking these over to review and I didn't notice anything misprinted when we played, but I'll take a look a bit closer and will report back.

    Can you freely select and take the discarded continent cards that are face up in the middle or do you have to take the oldest card that is at the back?

    • @gamemasters
      @gamemasters  8 месяцев назад +1

      you don't take cards from the middle. that's the discard pile and those get reshuffled and drawn "blind" from their corresponding stack (tactic cards or continent cards) when there are no more cards to draw.

  • @vengefulgaming4407
    @vengefulgaming4407 Год назад

    I recently purchased the game from Walmart and I still have a few questions regarding the tactical cards and the continent discard pile that is created in the middle for ex. when it's your turn and you get to pick 2 cards including from the continent discard pile if there is more than one card in that pile do I get to choose whatever continent I want or do I have to choose from the top ( last one that was discarded)..... and also, mid battle if I put troops and you put troops for defense and i destroy you troops and I'm going to attack again can the defender add more troops if they have more tactical cards to play or is there a limit to how much card one can play.

    • @gamemasters
      @gamemasters  Год назад +1

      It is my understanding that you can pick whichever you want of the two.
      As for battles, you can play however many cards you want at any point they could be played, that's part of the 'Risk' strategy part :)

    If a person loses all his continent cards while defending, ideally attacker can't attack henceforth ricght? And hence has to mandatorily, take a tactic card and pass their turn back to defender until they choose to draw continent card/s on their turn and play resumes ?
    How can this stalemate of one person not having continent cards (both keep taking a tactic card and passing) go on or is there a official/agreed upon rule to solve this ? (Asking coz game officially only ends in case one player taking 2 domination coins and not also when a player loses all continent cards)

    • @gamemasters
      @gamemasters  8 месяцев назад +1

      Not sure I understand? The rules specifically state: _If there are no defending continent cards remaining, the battle ends and the attacker’s turn is over._ There is no official agreed upon rule as far as I am aware to prevent a stalemate as depicted in your scenario. IF that were to happen, I'd rules it this way: If a player CAN attack because they have continents but another player chooses to only draw tactic cards, thus preventing an attack, and they do this multiple times, then they have no country with which to dwell in or attack from and lose.

      perhaps that's what is confusing me about your comment. Beginning at the 2 minute mark, I go into showing the shuffling of the cards, a hand layout, what cards you draw (it's assumed that two people are playing in the example hands that I show on screen), what each card can do. I explain that you roll a die, that the player with the highest goes first. at the 3 minute 6 second mark I explain how the dice are used in regards to attack vs defense (which is what your initial comment said needed to be explained better - except, I cite exactly how that mechanic works; you roll the attack dice, the person that is defending rolls the defense dice, you determine the difference) but also how the cards themselves can impact the rolls.
