I just want to say a big thank you for uploading all of these episodes. I watched back in the 80’s when they were first on in the uk . Now I’m on my 3rd go round since 2019. It’s all that’s helped keep my mind off losing my dear father.
Sorry to hear about your dear dad Michelle. I wasn’t expecting Prisoner Cell Block H to make such an impression on me… the wonderfully written characters become like friends and that sense of family really pulls you in… reading your lovely comment made me realise that working my own way through these glorious episodes has helped with my anxiety and depression - since starting, I’ve felt cheerier and mentally distracted in a good way! I see why it’s your third run. It is a huge comfort and our lives are richer for this show existing! 🙌🏻💛

The furniture in their homes merely reflected the styles of decorating in those days, stereotypical of the types of characters and homes they had. Just as the styles of current homes will draw similar criticisms in 30-40 yrs from now. All the drab grey contrasts found on many modern Australian home exteriors are hardly appealing now, let alone in years to come. But hey.. some people love it.
Kate was being very naive to think she could deal with unlikable people like Powell and Grace and end up getting what she wanted. It just isn't realistic that it could possibly workout in her favour. Erica knows full well how vicious and dangerous Marie can be, but yet she still puts all the blame onto Hazel for defending herself and striking the first blow. Its hardly fair when the only options Hazel had was to strike first and risk getting into trouble or get hurt herself, not much of a choice. Erica doesn't understand that its not as simple as learning to stay out of trouble in there because sometimes that is impossible, and I would have thought a more seasoned prisoner like Judy would have known better than to suggest such a thing to Hazel too!
+8ballpoolking1 The fatal error for most criminals when they are successful in their schemes is that they start to believe they are smarter than everyone else and assume they can fool everyone all the time. Kate obviously has a huge ego, especially where it relates to her intelligence compared to the others. But, she obviously isn't very street smart and Bea has always been the one holding four aces in that area.

Vagrancy is a crime, actually. So is juvenile delinquency. And yes, it was a crime in those days and prior, to be a broke. (Ask anyone over 50 who used to get around on foot after dark). You can't just be a teenage runaway, living rough or on the streets. Especially because you simply don't like being in an orphanage and girls homes. And anything could happen to a pretty young girl, like Suzie, on the streets. So if she had no family to look after her, then she becomes a ward of the state. And if you continuously try to run away from the childrens homes and girls homes, then they lock you up in a place where it's apparently harder to get out. Suzie's story would be a rare occurrence, but it has happened from time to time.

You're not wrong, the one thing the writers missed though was that Dr Kate's lagging resulted in the drug trade being squashed, for awhile, so Bea would've liked that ultimately. Bea has never been above lagging when it comes to drugs, see Sharon and Barbara, the governor's niece.
