    I just want to say a big thank you for uploading all of these episodes. I watched back in the 80’s when they were first on in the uk . Now I’m on my 3rd go round since 2019. It’s all that’s helped keep my mind off losing my dear father.

      Sorry to hear about your dear dad Michelle. I wasn’t expecting Prisoner Cell Block H to make such an impression on me… the wonderfully written characters become like friends and that sense of family really pulls you in… reading your lovely comment made me realise that working my own way through these glorious episodes has helped with my anxiety and depression - since starting, I’ve felt cheerier and mentally distracted in a good way! I see why it’s your third run. It is a huge comfort and our lives are richer for this show existing! 🙌🏻💛

    I'm confused by what the writers were doing with the Marie Winter assault scene in the laundry, because ALL of a sudden, a bunch of women went on a massive lagging spree that continued into the governor's office with Hazel. What the hell was all that about? One minute lagging is a cardinal sin that gets Doreen bashed to a pulp and potential laggers' lives threatened, and the next minute it's a lagging free for all in the laundry! They need to make up their mind on that one! lol

      The furniture in their homes merely reflected the styles of decorating in those days, stereotypical of the types of characters and homes they had.
      Just as the styles of current homes will draw similar criticisms in 30-40 yrs from now.
      All the drab grey contrasts found on many modern Australian home exteriors are hardly appealing now, let alone in years to come. But hey.. some people love it.

    Kate was being very naive to think she could deal with unlikable people like Powell and Grace and end up getting what she wanted. It just isn't realistic that it could possibly workout in her favour. Erica knows full well how vicious and dangerous Marie can be, but yet she still puts all the blame onto Hazel for defending herself and striking the first blow. Its hardly fair when the only options Hazel had was to strike first and risk getting into trouble or get hurt herself, not much of a choice. Erica doesn't understand that its not as simple as learning to stay out of trouble in there because sometimes that is impossible, and I would have thought a more seasoned prisoner like Judy would have known better than to suggest such a thing to Hazel too!

      +8ballpoolking1 The fatal error for most criminals when they are successful in their schemes is that they start to believe they are smarter than everyone else and assume they can fool everyone all the time. Kate obviously has a huge ego, especially where it relates to her intelligence compared to the others. But, she obviously isn't very street smart and Bea has always been the one holding four aces in that area.

      Hazel getting into trouble all ties in as part of the script (of course), for what is to come in the near future for Hazel.

      Then the government are criminals, as they've got no money, only ever rising debt. almost 800 billion $ in the case of Australias governments. Your taxes have almost no effect on a debt that continues to rise by thousands of $ a second. Nor does anyone ( the public that is) know who the creditor is, despite their taxes paying the interest on that debt ( but then, they're not told that ether) If that not a crime, then what the hell is?

      "AH, just pay your tax ( 20% if you're a pensioner, 60 % if you on a decent income) She'll be right?"

    • @johnsergei
      @johnsergei 6 лет назад +1

      One more thing about government debt ? If you were not taxed, the government would not be able to borrow any money ( that applies to every government in the world).
      Anyone find it suss that ( so called) creditors lent trillions of $ of their own money to which they'll get only a few % back, every year?
      The lent money did not exist till it was created as a loan ( Modern Money Mechanics + quotes from banking heads, themselves, over the years)
      Getting back to Prisoner. I think Suzy's character is a lot of fun. I was here age at the time, but I'd just stopped watching Prisoner as I gotta work my ass/arse off & pay half of it in taxes too you know. Suzy & I are kids no more. I like the old cars in Prisoner ( most were new, then) They're clearly not chosen randomly & say something about their owners. Ther's everything from Expensive Jags & BMWs Tedy
      ( Ian Smith) " THE MINISTER ISN'T HAPPY" in his top of the range, department Ford (back seat of course) & the teacher in his tent on wheels ( Moke, cheapest new car in Australia at the time) & Jimbo (somwhere inbetween) in a modest 4 cylinder Datsun 200b ( when you can climb wall, ya don't need to prove anything?)

      Vagrancy is a crime, actually.
      So is juvenile delinquency.
      And yes, it was a crime in those days and prior, to be a broke. (Ask anyone over 50 who used to get around on foot after dark).
      You can't just be a teenage runaway, living rough or on the streets. Especially because you simply don't like being in an orphanage and girls homes.
      And anything could happen to a pretty young girl, like Suzie, on the streets.
      So if she had no family to look after her, then she becomes a ward of the state.
      And if you continuously try to run away from the childrens homes and girls homes, then they lock you up in a place where it's apparently harder to get out.
      Suzie's story would be a rare occurrence, but it has happened from time to time.

    35:53 - (PEDANT ALERT!) Janet says she's only seen Bette Davis in a movie where she was an axe murderer and Ian tells her it was 'Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte' and Janet later says she didn't recognise her without the axe. That would be because Davies never had an axe in HHSW (in which she played a suspected murderer following a crime with a meat cleaver). It was Davis's co star from 'Whatever Happened to Baby Jane', Joan Crawford, who played an axe murderer in the movie 'Strait-Jacket'.

    Marie proves to be all talk, she doesn't follow through on ANY of her threats, somebody 'conveniently' walks in every time she confronts Kate.. Bea is the same re Kate, she does nothing to her, she threatened her ONCE but that Is all, Bea does nothing about Kate lagging. The storyline was very disappointing given the great characters involved.

    • @markxxx21
      @markxxx21 7 лет назад +1

      You're not wrong, the one thing the writers missed though was that Dr Kate's lagging resulted in the drug trade being squashed, for awhile, so Bea would've liked that ultimately. Bea has never been above lagging when it comes to drugs, see Sharon and Barbara, the governor's niece.

      It's called.. part of the storyline.
      There's no big fight until it all comes to a head.
      Come on.. if they punched up Marie or Kate randomly before they could truly be fixed up good and proper, then Marie and Kate would have grounds to request isolation or a transfer.
      And then where would that leave Sandy and Bea fixing up those bitches properly.
