Joost Klein is Groot! He dedicated this song to his father who died when he was 12 years old. His dad taught him that the world has no true boundaries. His mother died when he was 13. He is a HUGE inspiration to young folks, he is such a legend. The world needs more people like Joost. He has gone through so many challenges in life it is a true inspiration to see how he deals with it. Joost Klein is Groot!

When Joost was annoucned I knew people with either love it or hate it... The hardcore part is very much Dutch culture and I'm happy he is bringing some Dutch culture to Eurovision. With Belgium, Austria and Switzerland in our semi (where he is famous) must be enough to qualify. Which is already enough to shut off a lot of hate he gets from Dutch people at the moment :)

This is without a doubt a sure qualifier. Joost has over 2.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify. If he makes a post saying "Vote for me!!!" hes getting in. I think that because he is so well known across Europe that he's guaranteed left side of the scoreboard in the final. The only caviat is that the juries might destroy him. But he is definitely top 10 in the televote.

The brief story of Europapa by Joost Klein:
His parents died when he was a kid. His father to cancer at the age of 12, and his mother to a cardiac arrest at the age of 13. So he was orphaned at age 13 and brought up by his brother and sister.
Joost has written Europapa as a letter to his father. His father told him the world has no borders. Borders are made up by humans and so you can create your own world, and that’s what Joost is doing every day from that day on.
After the death of his parents, he started searching for the meaning of life and relief of his pain by traveling, but never actually found it there. He gave people money (psychologists) to help him, but that did not work. Until he realized that he still had time and options to realize his dreams. After all, the world has no borders right? And so he did.
The burning house in the end represents losing but also moving on, in a positive way. Burning your bridges: no longer controlled by pain + sadness, but focused on your dreams. Without borders.
Joost always said to his parents that one day he would go to Eurovision and that day is here and now. 12 points for The Netherlands!

The video and styling will normally not be that expensive. Joost makes the video himself with his friends, the producing did hé himself with his friends. The clothes are designed and made by himself and hes friends. They are just a big group of multitalented friends and Joost is the face of that. I also think you better watch again with the subtitles. Its kind of a tragic song about an orphan travelling trough Europe looking for happiness after hé lost his parents. Its way deeper then all the other "funny" songs. Btw. The staging will probably also be totally created by Joost and his friends. If you ever watch his videoclips and live shows (which are also totally created by him and his friends) i dont think you have to be afraid. Maybe its the first time the Netherlands can sit back and make Joost and his friends do all the things they want.

"You see dad? I have listened to you..." That last line is very heartelt: it's an oath to his parents (which he lost early) and among his best childhood memories are watching the #eurovisionsongcontest and that resonates a lot with me. He's picked up and taken over the message of his late father. Hope my kids can say the same to me one day.
And it's not really the music, but the fact that it is the only yearly thing that a good chunk of Europeans (and people worldwide in general) are doing simultaneously together: watching a yearly, international, entertainment show. Whatever you think of the quality, it's still better than what Europeans shared decades before that with one another: war and conflict.

It is a true work of art, it is filled with so many hidden gems that go unnoticed, especially for those who aren't Dutch. But in short, papa is Daddy in dutch, and all the musical transitions go from the old-school house, dance, and EDM to Gabber and New Kids "Hey Jonguh", the Red Bull outfit, the last supper a.m.m. (the referrals are obvious imho but I'm Dutch). It is a work of art! And I'm proud of him.
But I think the backstory is so important to really understand it that might be the only downside, perhaps he will have something up his sleeve?! Perhaps he will have an English version for the EVSC?!
Can't wait to see it live on stage at the EVSC :)

I have to note: they all lived in Rotterdam during the 90's while I lived the mellow style in Amsterdam. And we're talking about people who are all 50+. Still looking for the best place to watch it all together but I'm a bit overwhelmed. This didn't even happen with Arcade (with different friends)! I had to explain to them it could possibly win. And now I maybe have to disappoint them? Or not? I'm a bit confused right now. But as I say.... probably in a bubble. A nice one.

Not going to lie, I kind of expected more. I think the song is super endearing and has some catchiness in the chorus but I feel like it needs something more because sonically it didn't go anywhere. I like it but it just isn't as esc competitive as I had hoped. Mid table for me with good staging. Hope the staging leans into the kitsch and has a meme-able dance because this is just begging to be paired with some funky moves.

Anyway it's very Dutch; I'm one of the Dutch people who really aren't into this style, but there's definitely a layer of melancholy here that's interesting. And that last part hits hard. So we're not entirely ditching our "tradition"🙂

Disagree, Finland is definitely the weakest of the 3 and is the only one that I would classify as a joke song this year. Besides Finland is in the 1st semfinal, this is in the 2nd

This is quite weak, I am glad Croatia is still the winner. By the way, according to bookies 14 % Chance Croatia can win, Ukraina 14 % . Lasagna keeps climbing up . Netherlands has 1 % of chance

I have to correct you, its not europop but Europa like Europe is called in Europe

    • @AlesiaMichelle
      @AlesiaMichelle  7 месяцев назад +1

The title of the song is Europapa- and the genre is giving EuroPOP: it’s an intentional play on words.

Hey! I really like your video but I think you should change something about the way you mix the sound. The song was very quiet and sounded like it played from far away, I could not here the last part at all. While your voice in comparison was quite loud so I didn't want to turn up my audio.
    Nonetheless a great video!

I was teenager during the early 90's when 2 Unlimited and Scooter and Love parade CD compilations were a thing. It was my least favorite subgenre of EDM - yes it was unmistakebly Germanic (there was even an German counterpart of MTV called Viva 1, who mostly played that kind of music) but I have to say, also very cringe for me, although we didn't use the word. Sadly, this entry brings back those memories. I get it's not a joke entry, I'm glad the Dutch people like it and are satisfied with the choice, but I don't like it at all.

As a song I would listen I think I prefer finland to this so far, that one is a lot catchier. There are things I like about this one but they come a bit too late into the song. That being said, live it may turn out better than finland, we will see

There's something wrong with this song, the lyrics has a double interpretation, I think you're feeling hesitation. Because you prefere talk about other songs.... For me is a No. I'm not convinced, maybe I just don't understand deutsch...
