Let's say he has done the best with what he was given. He's very good at putting his feelings into words(and making us feel them) and arranging them with music - that's his main talent.
Danny Maciel which means you just celebrated your 25th birthday about a month back. Happy belated. I wonder if you heard it and felt the sound of the room?🤔
Because it's an entirely different version of the song. It wouldn't necessarily fit in with the use of the violin and cello. That's essentially why the acoustic guitar is heavily used in the original track. Simplistic yet profound.
I never realized how many performances for MTV the Pumpkins did. I'm discovering some other gem from 1993/1994/1995 every time I look up Pumpkins videos.
It must of have been the last day of school before Christmas or something, because we'd gone bowling. When we'd finished, I remember walking into town alone, through a fairly determined blizzard, to make sure I managed to get Disarm on 7". After clinging it close to my chest for an hour, I got home and put it on, and of course knew it was worth the walk, and the cold. I loved the b-side Siamese Dream too, but I remember thinking, at 15 years of age, nothing could touch my nerves, my heart and my brain more deeply than when Billy Corgan sings 'I used to be a little boy'. I was at least 90% right.
God they were so above the rest. If there is one band that doesn't get the praise they deserve is SP. Hope the rumours of a reunion are true. Not that the new line up is bad, it just seems Billy is uncomfortable. Being with the ones who went through the storm together might be good
meanwhile, this is happening, thousands of miles West, off the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood between Larabee and San Vicente, River Phoenix OD'd in front of the Viper Room (River Poom). 10/31/93
….as a Gen Xer growing up with parents that half way gave a shit about you just enough to criticize you but not enough to love and support you….I can relate to this song.
That's cool. wtfninja24... By the way...I finally found out what they are saying in the song "1979" in the background between lyrics. It's.... "12 again"..... being that Billy was 12 in 1979. I asked him, so...heheh... pretty reliable source. ;-)
Did they do any other songs from this performance? Cause I know MTV studios had a lot of these small shows for bands like the Pumpkins, Nirvana, Weezer, Green Day, etc. at the time. And they always had great production and performances.
Is absolutely true. I would have nothing to gain from saying that.... only to enlighten. So people are actually cool... and I like to think I'm one of them.
I hate how everyone always says stuff like this. There was JUST as much bad music back then as there is now, it just didn't stand the test of time and you don't see any of it today. You're seeing the past through rose tinted glasses, when it was just the same as now. There are still good bands out there putting out heartfelt bits of poetry like they used to, and always have been.
@@devonoffutt3384 i agree i hate when boomers think that there must be absolutely 0 good music out when all they’re doing is listening to the top 40 to make that judgement.
It's Just Me Never, ever understood how anyone could call Smashing Pumpkins grunge. Maybe the smallest, smallest influence from grunge culture, but they're far above the grunge movement.
Kurt Cobain was extremely intelligent and intuitive. People think leaving his daughter behind or making an impulsive decision to take his life amidst all his pain takes away from that.
His voice is so unique
i think similar with gerard way!
@@alifirham23 People really like to compare those two, artistically and physically
The Neil Young family tree.

my mom told me she was at this show 5 months pregnant with me.
ah the good ol 90's when everyone rocked!
Epic
Your mom is cool
Danny Maciel which means you just celebrated your 25th birthday about a month back. Happy belated. I wonder if you heard it and felt the sound of the room?🤔
Five months are you sure? Or was it the night she got pregnant? Billy might be your father bro.
Billy is one of the most talented singer-musicians in history!
I've always loved this song. It's so beautiful.
more painful... but for that i love that song...
Same since I first heard it
hey angelface. I used to be a little boy. what's a boy supposed to do?
Best time of my life is the 90's ..so simple yet full of color
I still have this performance recorded on VHS. I miss those days man
Just listen to the way James came in at 2:38. Magical
I wonder why he didn't put that on the original record
Because it's an entirely different version of the song. It wouldn't necessarily fit in with the use of the violin and cello. That's essentially why the acoustic guitar is heavily used in the original track. Simplistic yet profound.
@@kevinperlow4595 it's a great groove tho. there's an alt version of Spaceboy kinda like this, with I think James playing slide
This is talent.
i Love you Darcy wretzky
D'arcy was so cute. Damn!
Billy has always been able to sing my hurt like no one else.
Other than maybe Kurt Cobain used to...
for some reason, i dont feel hurt when think kurt lyric wise. maybe i should go back and pay more attention.
Chris Cornell & Eddie Vedder as well for me. Both wrote songs about anger, pain, etc.
@I wish I was a vampire in the late 80s & early 90s Subjective
Agreed ❤
I wonder if music will ever be this good again!
It won’t lol
I need his shirt..
What a fucking performance, dude. Such great dynamics, and god damn these four could rip.

One of the best performances of this song I have seen :-) vocals and music are spot on.
Really good looking with hair. So young then. He still is so talented. No one sings like him.
Wow, great to see this song performed live. Thanks for posting

Frickin' AMazing! Brings tears to my eyes.

just watching Billy play clean on his iconic "bat strat" alone for a song like Disarm is pure magic. his genius is undeniable.
This song reminds me so much my teenage time. Strange feelings... So glad to have been a teenager in the musically blessed 90's !!!

Cos'è il tempo se lo sai fermare con una canzone...

Corgan's coarse voice makes this a truly emotional song
