I just love all the times they had to take quick side glances at each other while they were estranged. How they ever fooled anyone, including each other, is a mystery to me. I'm sure they were the talk of the town. I imagine there were many people that came up to them after they were reunited and said, "I just knew you two were the perfect match."
For me, in this TV series, the only season worth watching is the first one. But despite this, and despite the fact that the story of Charlotte and Sidney cannot be compared to any other, Charlotte's character deserved its happy ending and better that it be with a gentleman of integrity like Colburne. But I still think they could have found a more handsome actor than this. It's impossible for me not to compare him to Theo James.
Sidney wasn't very nice to Charlotte for most of S1, vain and condescending. Then suddenly when he compares her to Mrs. Campion, he realizes she's the girl for him. The fire happens and Sidney falls on his sword to rescue his brother. The producers and writers made a strategic mistake when they thought it would be a good idea to have an unhappy ending for a Jane Austen novel. The Jane-ites revolted, ITV cancelled the series before they could reunite Charlotte and Sidney. Then Theo James refused to come back for a second season. So, if you want to blame someone... Mr. Colbourne might not have been as handsome as Paco Raban model, Theo James, but he was handsome enough.
I apologize, Mr. Darcy. I have been bewitched by Mr. Colburne. LOL

The Characters of Allyson and Charlotte are farmer's daughters with 11 siblings. They even mention the fact in the series of being poor.
