TANDEM CRANK STIRLING ENGINE

This video describes modifications made to an old model stirling engine to get it to run. The modifications included replacing a larger, heavy, crankshaft with smaller, lighter, tandem, crankshafts.

I like it. The contra rotating crankshafts impart an interesting motion to it and it seems to run very well. 👍

Nice runner Les.
I have built my share of Stirling engines that looked good but due to friction just wouldn’t run.It took a few builds to finally figure out what works.
Any resistance on these little engines will keep them from running correctly if at all.
Looks like you have it figured out!

Nice engine, like the fact that the power piston crank rotates clockwise & due to the gears the displacer piston crank rotates anti-clockwise unusual.
