Love “Pile of Possibilities” rather than TBR 😊 I’m terrible at sticking to planned TBR lists and pile of possibilities just seems a lot less stressful! I’m so impressed by how many reading challenges you follow! I know they’re more just to get some inspiration on what to read but you always inspire me to discover books I may not always think of. Some amazing reads in your picks, I’m excited to hear your thoughts! ❤

Yes, the challenges make it so fun and helps me choose what to read that I already have on my shelf, which is great as some of them might just sit there otherwise. 😂. Hope you have a great reading month with whatever you decide to read! 📚✨

So interesting!! I grew up with a lot of fighting and conflict in the house but I don't like expressing anger. Actually, I take that partially back. I don't like expressing anger in my day to day, but if I get mad at my family, I have no issues expressing that. LOL

It's good that you're wanting to be inclusive in your reading, at least on a surface level. But don't mistake ideology with being human; and don't mistake anger with justice. There will always be deeper issues beneath this societal bandage we call inclusiveness and equality. The problems are more fundamental; and a person is much more complex than his limitations by supposed oppression. Tread carefully. We're perhaps approaching a cultural curve, and if we deem ourselves as uncompromising progressives, we will destroy all original values - and what then comes from there? Anarchism, relativism, subjectivism, and a coldness that pretends to be warm and inviting, but is really angry and miserable. Hatred grows in our dismissal of things just as it does in our adoption of dogmas.

    • @bookstalgic

Interesting points. I’m assuming you’re referring to the Eloquent Rage book? I try to go into these books as objectively as possible and I do try to use the widest perspective I have access to, but I tend to always lean towards compassion. I’m looking forward to seeing what the book is about. Anger, in general is an interesting emotion that I’ve always felt uneasy with and I do feel society doesn’t accept women’s anger as much as men’s. It should be an interesting read from a Black and feminist perspective 👍.

I'm still learning to navigate my communication skills with others. I'm a very stand-offish kinda person; and I've had some disagreements with her. @@bookstalgic Better to be too positive than aggressively negative. But, of course, these things are incidental by nature; shaped, like you said, by our experiences and such. Books help shed a light on everything; and writing solidifies it. I'm actually working on a writing project: a commentary of Plato's Symposium through a transcendentalist perspective. I'm at 30k words and aiming for 100k. I actually have a three year plan of doing three works: the other two are Aristotle's Metaphysics, and Spinoza's Ethics.
