I love that you do these videos. Thank you. I'm not 100% certain, as I don't sell my soap, so I never looked into it. But I think in Canada, the label must have the ingredients listed, as well as the weight in grams. I'm not sure, but the website or way to contact you online might also be required. A few other things, but I think those 3 are absolute for label requirements. I may be wrong, as these I've only been seeing online from persons who sell, and I've never looked into it.
Pretty sure Canada also requires that you send your recipe off for proper % listing too, no? I REALLY want to look into other countries and their requirements - it’s on the list!

I tried to say this in a FB group and even posted the same pages you posted people are so horribly misinformed. I put sodium Hydroxide and someone said you don’t use Lye? I responded with you can’t make soap without lye it’s listed as sodium Hydroxide.
As I have become a bit more “professional” lol I have included my ingredients, mainly because people ask. I am glad to know that I am not doing it wrong. I do have a question….I usually just put LYE as the ingredient versus sodium hydroxide. Do you think it matters??? (Besides the fact I don’t have to do anything lol)
Hey! I would put sodium hydroxide because it’s more accurate; there are a number of caustics that are called “lye” IE potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, etc.
@@MrsSoapAndClay thanks so much! And thank you for always saying things in an easy to understand way! Ok except when you geek out….then I get lost 😂 Science and I were not friends in school…lol
I have a question regarding the .77. The book showed 7.7%, I thought when getting rid of the % you moved the decimal 2 places to the left. I’m old af so I may be remembering that wrong but I don’t think so. Anyway my point is that by doing that it becomes .077 which then makes the glycerin .179 in EX1 and the glycerin in the batch total .72% I hope I explained that right or in a way you understood. I even used the calculator and multiplied 2.33*7.7% and got the same answer. Help me understand why I got something different from you when to the best of my knowledge I followed the math rules.
The 7.7% from the book page was the percentage by volume of glycerin in the example recipe after calculating the objective amount of glycerin using the complicated formula shown above on that page.
Hey Rhonda! I effectively removed a few extra steps that one would need to remember when using Kevin’s equation and just divided the molecular weight of one mole of glycerin by the molecular weight of 3 moles of sodium hydroxide (3x40), which yields .77. The 7.7% on that particular book page is a happy coincidence and has nothing to do with the formula - it’s the solution to the example he gave in the book.
@@MrsSoapAndClay Hello gorgeous! I thought in order to turn that 7.7% into a decimal that you had to move it 2 places to the left making it .077 instead of .77. Other than that I understand. Thank you for responding ❤️. I love your no BS videos.
is it possible for you make a video of different options available in Palm Oil (Palm Oil, Palm Olein Oil, Palm Stearin, Palm kernel Oil and Palm Kernel Flakes, Red Palm Oil, Hydrogenated and not hydrogenated palm oil) what is the difference in these oils and which oil can be substituted for these oils and what kind of properties bring in soap

If you make a tea with the distilled water, would you list it as distilled tea or separate the two? Distilled water, tea
I’d just put the kind of tea. Distilled tea is confusing and the end result of what you made is tea regardless? It’s a good question!
I truly believe, you were meant to be a math teacher 🤭💯
Ha! 🤪
I love you! Thank you for this.
I love this video, but I am also sad that it's still necessary to debunk soap labeling. I was dying in the beginning though so funny. 😭 Lol.
Thanks!
I think we read the same comment in the same forum 😂
This is why I don’t Facebook. 😂
@@iKit306 Thank you, I understood that part. I’m wanting to know how I keep getting .077 and Soap & Clay got .77 though.
Exactly this, Chris!
You bet! I’ll be doing a palm deep dive in the next few weeks!
LMFAO! Love your work! 🤣🤣🤣❤
Are milk baths or tea baths considered a cosmetic?
Anything not soap. :)
You’re crazy girl, lol.
Love u and ur videos
😅😅😅😅 intro is great
Makes a delicious malt
Should We Label Our Deordorant Recipe?
Deodorant is not a soap, so falls under the FDA guidelines for labeling.
@@MrsSoapAndClay Okay Thank You🖤
