"Schwerer Gustav" ("Heavy Gustav") is the correct name for your No. 2. "Schwerer" is not a surname: you shouldn't have turned it around.

You missed the oldest of canons. The Dardanelles Gun was cast in bronze in 1464 by Munir Ali with a weight of 16.8 t and a length of 518 cm, being capable of firing stone balls of up to 63 cm diameter (over 25 inches).[1] The powder chamber and the barrel are connected by the way of a screw mechanism, allowing easier transport of the unwieldy device.

I remember in Breaking Bad that Walt was talking to Jesse about this Nazi supergun that was so strong and powerful that an air raid couldn't stop it. The only way to stop it was one man and a bag of thermite. I don't know if it was the Gustav gun or something else, but whatever it was, it was an incredible feat, no matter what country made it.

    • @Outside85

Probably not, Gustav (and all rail-guns like it) were actually incredibly prone to something like air raids because it was so massive and had to be moved on rails, so there was almost no way of hiding it. What kept the planes away were the anti-aircraft measures that escorted it.

It was called schwerer Gustav (heavy Gustav, not Gustav Heavy) Gustav is a German name. Also keep in mind that Bertha is a German name, therefore the th is pronounced like a t followed by an h because the than language hasn't the rule to pronounce "th" different than the two letters themselves

  • @0ldFrittenfett

The one gun that probably should have been on this list was the gun used to start World War One, it was a Browning FN pistol that killed Arch Duke Ferdinand and his wife Sophia. Ironic thing was the man, Gavrilo Princip, who shot the Arch Duke and his wife was someone rejected for military service and who originally thought the attempt by his comrades had failed until the Duke's car pulled down the wrong alley where Gavrilo Princip was ordering a sandwich. He saw the Arch Duke and came out shooting

That's not a M1891 Carcano, it's a M1938 Fucile Corto. The basic design of the WW2 era Carcano unchanged in same manner the basic design of the German K98 (standard WW2 Geerman rifle) was unchanged since 1898, and the prolific M1903 and M1903A3 Springfields unchanged since 1903. (While M-1 Garand commonly associated with US in WW2, a large number of US troops armed with Springfields for bulk of War, some combat troops actually not getting M-1 until 1944.)

The Carcano rifle Lee Oswald supposedly shot Kennedy with was not open sighted as your video demonstration shows. It had a 4X scope attached to it the FBI said was missing an attachment shem, which made it impossible to align for an accurate shot. The rifle was found on the 6th floor storage room shots were heard from. I won't even go into the fact Oswald was first seen 90 seconds after the last shot was fired in the 2nd floor break room, drinking a Coke. We know this because a Dallas police officer and Book Depository Supervisor saw him there. It's all in the Warren Report.

I have about 38 rifles, pistols and shotguns in my collection. All are basic firearms, none are "rare" by any means but about 20 I purchased and the rest were left to me by 2 grandfathers, my dad and a few just wound up with me when relatives died and wives knew I "collected" and had a big Gun Safe so they were given to me by relatives who didn't want guns just laying around their house. My son has about a dozen guns and when I pass on my guns will go to him, making his collection go up to around 50 guns. Only in America, huh? Gun haters must hate the millions of guys like me who casually collect massive amounts of firearms throughout their life. When I married my wife told me I could buy one gun a year, no questions or arguing required. Some years I didn't even pick up a gun or my collection would be about 8 to 10 more guns than it is. I haven't hunted since I turned about 50 but working Law Enforcement since I was 21 I still shoot my pistols regularly.
