Online Beginner Sean Nós Dance Workshop for Young People #1 with Liam Scanlon

The Linenhall Arts Centre is delighted to bring you a series of beginner Sean Nós Dance tutorials for young people. Find a pair of comfortable shoes and start stepping! Over four weeks award winning dancer, choreographer and teacher Liam Scanlon will take you through a series of basic steps to build your dance repertoire. From shuffles to stamps you’ll be dancing in style in no time.
A Masters graduate in Traditional Dance Performance at the Irish World Academy, and winner of the coveted Corn TG4 at Oireachtas na Gaeilge, choreographer and performer Liam Scanlon’s art is firmly rooted in a sean nós and percussive dance tradition.

Liam is a Dance Ireland Associate Artist, an Arts Council Ireland Next Generation recipient, and has performed for President Michael D. Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin. He has performed with numerous Irish music and dance acts across Europe, Canada, Russia, Japan and New Zealand, and was part of the Irish-Québécois collaboration, Sokalo Remix.
In 2018, Liam choreographed for Preab Meadar, a concert of sean nós song, music and dance, based on the irregular time signatures of the medieval Dán Díreach. Described as “disarmingly simple, authentic, captivating and joyous” (No More Workhorse), Liam’s first solo choreography, Nascanna, premiered as part of ‘First Looks’ at Dublin Dance Festival before performing at Leitrim Dance Week, Laois Dance Platform, ‘Tanzmesse’ Dusseldorf, ‘What’s Next? Festival’ - Limerick, ‘Echo Echo Festival’Derry, and as part of ‘New Ireland Dance - Choreographies of Nowness’ at 92Y in New York and Project Arts Centre Dublin.
