      Hello! I wasn't sure if u would get this message or not, but since I do Irish dancing now I get foot cramps sometimes. I was wondering if u could do a video about how to get rid of them for Irish dancers?

      @@briannadavis7851 Hi! I could certainly try and do one for you. I would start with my "Injury prevention video" for now. Its one of my first vids so its kinda lame and awkward but the information is good. Probably icing your feet twice a day (I recommend doing it at breakfast and dinner) and massage and try the stair calf stretches. Often foot pain is caused by our tight calves in Irish dance. And of course, don't forget to check in with a professional. Physiotherapist or your doctor. Best of luck!

    3:17 A tip for anyone facing the same problem: to prevent the knee from passing your toes, it's a good idea to do the exercise against the wall: that way, the wall prevents the knee from moving forward. Besides doing Irish dance, I spent 20 years training martial arts and the wall has been my best friend in this type of exercises haha!

    Hey, these are so helpful! How many times a week should I do these?

    • @MJPAcademyIrishDance
      @MJPAcademyIrishDance  2 года назад +1

      Great question! It depends on how many days you train. A good rule of thumb is three times a week. But if you are dancing 4 days a week then maybe just two days a week to prevent overtraining and to be sure you get a rest day each week. Or, if you do these after you are finished your dancing for the day then you could go back up to three a week. Totally depends on your dance goals, fitness level and training routine. You can ask your teachers and/or your doctor or physiotherapist as well.

      Hi Issymano, do you mean, does it take a dancer a long time to get enough strength to do all of these exercises? It can if you have never done anything like this before. Just start small and with a few reps and then work your way up gradually to more repetitions and bigger movements. I hope this helps!

    New to Irish dancing. Self-taught at the beginning. If I have a slight toe issue currently, do I HAVE to "point" on my soft shoes or can I just go up on the bottom of my toes? Does that make sense? Trying to find answers online to this question. Thanks much.

    • @MJPAcademyIrishDance
      @MJPAcademyIrishDance  Год назад +2

      Good question. I think I understand what you are asking. So for dancing in Softshoes, you can dance with the ball ball of the foot on the floor and the ankles arched up as high as you can go. For championship dancers in Softshoe, you would want to be dancing on the very tips of your toes (En pointe) whenever possible but some dancers can never actually achieve this. They can still do well and place. But a dancer dancing on the tips of their toes in Softshoe will place higher than a dancer on demi-pointe (Ball of the foot). Is this what you were asking? If not, please write back and try again. Haha.
