    I agree with their choice of the 777-300 ER. It is a more modern and fuel efficient plane. The Indian government will get more bang for their buck using a twin engine airplane over an aging 747-400 that is not as fuel efficient. This is a first that any government is using a twin engine plane as their plane for the Indian prime Minister. Cudos to them.

  • @ravveendrra
    @ravveendrra 4 года назад +44

    I like the subdued livery of the planes. It was a smart move by the government to take over the planes that were already with Air India, giving Air India a much needed infusion of cash and taking unwanted inventory off Air-India. It is rumoured that the planes will be formally transferred to the Indian Air Force and the registration details will change. It is also believed that though initially Air India personnel will be used for maintainancel, eventually maintainance will be done exclusively by the Air Force airmen. It is also expected that pilots will be from the Indian Air force. The Indian Air Force now has a decent VIP Squadron with these 2 777s, some BBJs (737s) a handful of Embraers and some Mi8 helicopters so a dedicated maintainance unit is called for. Another fact few know is that IAF Pilots are trained to fly multiple types of airplanes with 'current rating' from combat aircraft to heavy transport, so crew requirements can be rationalised for optimum utilisation of pilots without burden on Air India.

      The US actually has multiple Air Force One's and each one can withstand a nuclear impact and is able to command the US Air Force on board, it has about 85 phone lines for emergency contact.

You don't get to achieve these heights with the type of attitude that prevails in India. Reality of the situation is that NAL Saras was binned after just one crash. Do you think USA got where it is now by stopping projects if they result in human loss? Do you know how many astronauts USA lost before it could land man on the Moon?
