Mrs. Denice, you mentioned not having enough brown sugar as a staple in your pantry. Just having a glass or two of Molasses let's you make your own brown sugar quickly anytime you need with out worrying about it drying out. This has helped so much. Not worrying about the bags and boxes of brown sugar and how to best store it so that the texture and quality is good till the next time it's needed. The glass of molasses goes a long way as pantry staple then those boxes/bags of brown sugar.
Indeed I haven’t brought bron sugar in donkey years and now since I have cut back on sweets ours last a good while and it stays moist. ❤ it is even easier to make if you own a stand mixer
Hi Denise and Leona , I keep spices and herbs foraged or brought in my pantry. This is a restock yr for me. I like slofoodgroup, and sometimes the meat market where I live, sells what I need to mix my own spices mixes ex. Taco and poultry seasoning. This year I ordered whole cloves from slofood group , every single clove was beautiful, over the Summer I also ordered Ceylon cinnamon sticks from them. Even though I use these spices for cooking and medicinal they last me for at least a year. And I know they will stay fresh longer, than if I brought them ground. I can grind up as much as I want and I can direct my funds elsewhere. I also love beans a favorite in our family are great northern and kidney, I have a section in my pantry to keep them in bags separate from where I store them in jars. I had to throw out all those bags because something got into all of them 😢 so I need to restock all of the beans. I will never keep them in bags again. I have long grain rice stored in buckets with bay leaf one of which is nearly empty. But it smells Devine. I I can veggie or chicken stock, I found one last can of cranberry and blackberry sauce from last yr. so I really need to make more, I like to get pineapples at the end of Summer season and make jam, pumpkin butter and ready made meals like chili, and seasoned potatoes. Tomatoes didn’t do well this year so I have started collecting can tomatoe sauce and chopped tomatoes. I have enough tomatoes to make salsa 💃🏾 😂 Since 1/2 my family has moved out and away I don’t have to cook like I used to. Plus at this stage in our life we don’t eat like we did 10, 5 yr. ago. Simple for me. Even though I don’t trust white flour after a bug discovery, I have some in containers shut tight 😂 But I want to try acorn, plantain and other flours to bake with very interested in that😊
Ok my two favorite ladies!

I love your fresh approach to spices and herbs, and I can relate to the changes in cooking needs over time. ❤️
I appreciate how you convey your experience in life changes from your channel, Leona. Thank you.
