To expand on your conclusion, for anyone still out there wondering if there is an audience for this camera, I'm one of them. This is exactly how I use my current mirrorless camera. I use the EVF to shoot, and since the EVF already shows the final image pretty accurately (and I am aware of my histogram), I never have to check it after taking it. Im a stills photographer primarily, and before mirrorless i used an older DSLR so I didn't shoot through the LCD either. Viewfinder always. On top of that, my background is film, so the hidden screen is only more appealing, and in line with my shooting style. I'm not the only one, there's more of us out there. And for those who are not, there's the XT3, the Sonys, the Canons, Nikons, etc! The existance of this camera doesn't erase all of those other options.
I'm on the same page. I have an XE2s, and back when I started photography in 2014, my first camera was a Canon FTb. Purely mechanical film SLR, with a battery operated meter, which I never purchased a battery for. When I finally got into digital to save money on film costs, I tried other manufacturers, and became frustrated with having to dig through menus to change aperture, and wonky manual focus of the modern lenses. On top of that, I mainly shoot at night, so I found auto focus was pretty abysmal. Then I found Fujifilm...the user experience was akin to a film body, with digital output. For me, they could have made the xpro3 with no rear display, and I would have been fine with that (Theres always the EVF if you must).I use my XE2s with the EVF either always on, or in eye sensor activation. The back screen is almost never on, unless I am changing lens adapter settings, or transfering jpegs to my tablet/smartphone for upload.
Well my background is film, film, film, lots of film, but IMHO FUJI instead of making a gimmicky hipster oriented move could left the screen where it was and simply add an option in the menus to disable lifeview/displaying images. That way both camps would be happy and we would have a great camera, now it's a niche product.
Same here. Started with (and still shoot) film, and my x-pro2 is hands down my favorite digital camera because it feels more like one of my old rangefinders
@@Korowiow_vel_Panajew Pretty sure all Fuji cameras have that option. My X-T10 has the option to turn the screen off and shoot 100% through the EVF. There's also a screen view where it just shows you all your settings and never goes to live view or image review.
@@Korowiow_vel_Panajew It's tough to do. But I think Fuji pulled it off. Do I think it was the best decision? No. I'm more interested in the fact that they made a bold decision to do so in an effort to reduce chimping and have it solely focus on street photography/stills. If they just made a setting or button to disable the screen, people are going to leave it on. I know it wasn't easy but it was either them designing the screen this way, or make a Leica MD knockoff with no screen and you connect your phone to the built-in wifi.
You missed two of the most important aspects of this camera's design. It is a purpose-driven camera for street photographers. The flip down screen gives you a low key waist-level viewfinder for stealthy shots while you are on the street (like an old Hasselblad medium format). This allows you to take pictures on the street without people even noticing that you are taking photos. Secondly, since it is made to be used stealthily, you would never want to use more than a small prime lens with it, otherwise you would just be defeating the purpose. If you want to use a long lens just get a bigger camera like the XT-3 or the XH-1.
I want to be clear just because I dislike the small square screen design element I think this camera makes great pictures and will be enjoyable for a lot of people! I mentioned a few things in my first impressions video that didn’t make it into this one. Just wanted to touch on them real fast after using the camera. -All the customizable features this make it a dream for jpeg users. Things like chrome blue mode, tone curve adjustments, and grain effects. I didn’t dive to far into this but on paper it seems to make so many creative opportunities if you take the time to dial everything in. -Classic negative is an awesome film simulation. Its not right for everything but it can give your photos AND VIDEO a cool look quickly. Emphasis on the video side because you won’t need to color grade in post to get a stylized look. -Multiple exposure mode is cool, I didn’t really use it but I still think its cool. -Also, one added benefit to the hidden screen is that the screen is protected when its not in use. Thanks for watching!
I agree with some of the other comments. Its not about the money spent, its about what exactly your getting and how you value the features/specs in a camera. Appreciate you watching!
@@TaipeiGeek Have you ever heard of the saying "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts"? Well, for me, "my opinion" is the XPro3 is the better camera for my style of use. And yes, I have access to both and use a whole range as part of my job, for the last 40 years. The Z6 is a great camera, but it's not the best for everyone.
While in Brooklyn shooting some street photography the other day I saw a guy using one. I asked him what he thought of it. He said he was a street photographer and absolutely loved the X-Pro 3. Side note ; I was using the X-Pro 1 with a Fuji 35mm XF 2.0. He was using the same lens.
At first the X Pro3 was kind of meh but the more and more I used it the more and more I fell in love with. She's like the great friend you had over the years and one day you realize that you're in love. lol I love using this camera.
100% agree with your X-Pro3 review, for the record I'm a Fuji user for many years, XPRO1,2,XT1,2,3, and every X100. I decided to sell my Black X-Pro 2 and grabbed a Graphite Limited Edition X-Pro2 as I could not justify the spend for a new model that I do not think has any groundbreaking upgrades especially over my XT3. I have been really frustrated with all the Fuji Xshooters who rushed to Fuj aid when it was launched and the back screen was an issue for many, instead of being honest these Xshooters went to great length to say they really loved the pointless hidden screen. In my opinion, Im waiting for a X-PRO4 that hopefully breaks ground. I think this was a massive mistake by Fuji and they have just pushed some customers to stretch to that like platform. I remain a Fuji user, I love the brand and cameras but this one should have been way better. My XPRO3 I had on pre-order since Sept 2019 I canceled when I was called to say it was in, my money will go to a 2nd hand GFX50r to use now and again with the Mitakon lens.
I've had the X-T3 at launch... it's a little BEAST! Presently have the 16-80mm f/4 affixed to the mount to see how it does in both photo and video usage. Then Fujifilm announced the X-Pro3... For years, I felt like I made the wrong decision when looking into making the plunge into mirrorless and picked another camera instead of the X-Pro1. The announcement for the X-Pro3 gave me the chance to redeem myself... My main reason for picking one up was the HYBRID VIEWFINDER... that's it. It had nothing to do with the hidden LCD monitor or the LCD sub-monitor. Other notable factors were the shutter release feel, rangefinder-style, retro dial manipulation, and the titanium/Duratec finish to the top and bottom plates. I've been taking it out everyday since I got it and putting it through its paces... have the "Fujicrons" in tow, but mostly shooting with the 23mm f/2 at the moment... messing around with the focus range limiter a bit and seeing what I can get straight out of camera with the clarity and grain effect settings. Now I may start looking into adapting M-mount manual lenses to this body! Believe it or not, I miss not relying on autofocus and would prefer the feel of "real" manual focus(not focus-by-wire). Other than that, I do have the optional hand grip and a wrist strap attached. Did I need this camera? No... Did I want this camera? YES! I really like shooting with it. It's hard to explain.
Scenario 3 here. I already shoot street with the X100 series and could use the interchangeable lenses. Careful shopping through the years has resulted in a decent selection of Leica glass purchased for specific character but shelling out for a M10-P and/or Monochrom 40 is just not realistic, but a Pro3 with adapted glass works. I demo’ed the Pro3 when it first came out and the experience is close enough to my rebuilt used Leica M4-2 that I felt at home with the body. Now I save for it.
Got one to replace my X-E3 because I wanted a weather proof body. Decided if I was going to replace the X-E3 I might as well invest in something that I was going to keep for quite some time. I could have got an X-Pro2, but having had a chance to use the 3, decided that it was the way to go. Had mine two months now and don’t regret the decision at all. Don't see myself replacing it anytime soon, probably only when it finally dies.
Thanks for the honest feedback. I'm a film photographer/RUclipsr who mainly shoots portraits, but will be shooting much more street in 2020. That being said, I'm looking for a mirrorless camera that I can mount my film lenses on and shoot digital street on (no way i'm developing 5-10 rolls of street photography each trip LOL!). This camera, for the price, is a no from me as well. I'll end up scooping a Fuji xt3.
Thank you Evan! I have been saving up for a Leica Q2 but I'm now thinking about the X-Pro 3 with the XF16mm 1.4 WR because the reasons for the Leica are - viewfinder (my GR III doesn't have one :P I also want it on the left side and not the middle of the camera) - manual focusing on the lens with a distance scale - weather resistance And the XPro-3 ticks all those boxes (although the Leica Q2 probably has the better lens and is of course glorious Full Frame)
Ended up picking up a graphite Xpro 2. After playing with both of them I decided the Xpro 2 suited my needs more. Secondly, you can get a bundle for a new Xpro 2 and 23mm F2 with camera insurance for 3 years for less than the Fuji Xpro 3 body alone. So...... Yeah!

Your videos are growing in quality and flow! Keep up the great work. Cheers from Portugal 🇵🇹
I have it and it's daily street photo for me. I bring it with me everyday to shoot after work. I have Sony kit for real work. You are spot on with your assessment.
Love my X-PRO 3 W/ XF 16mm. It has become my go to digital camera when out and about. More importantly it's easy to adjust back into after shooting an ol' rangefinder film camera. Or is it the other way around.
You're putting in so much work in your new vlogs! The intro, transitions, sound effects, new/interesting angles, etc made this video a huge step forward. Wishing you the best in 2020 to hit your subscribers goal! You def deserve it, one of the most talented photographers out there today
Great review, thanks! With the X-Pro2 and most other cameras, you can turn off the back screen if you don’t want to be tempted to chimp, so I don’t really get the purpose of hiding the screen. I think I’ll skip this camera.
I don't think Fuji is the worst about releasing new things that devalue their older cameras. The X-Pro needed an update badly in the first place and I feel like they release bodies at least at a near perfect interval for most people and their needs. Now Sony is someone that seems to upset most people I know since they'll buy something brand new and within a year it gets replaced by something better. Not really a huge deal IMO since most of these cameras from the past 3-4 years are all insanely good. Also, in many markets when there is a niche product like this the cost is higher simply because they know less people will buy it. XT3 sells like hotcakes but this will sell significantly less I'm sure.
Seems like an ideal 2nd body for someone who already has a few Fuji and adapted lenses... I have an X-T1 (and several film cameras) and haven't felt the need to buy another Fuji until now. Very tempting... Do I get this or the X100V? Decisions...
X-pro 3 sell for the same price or more than MSRP at launch even in 2023. I believe it was one of a kind, might lose value once Xpro. 4 is out if ever. Great review. Thanks.
The xe3 - the best open secret that nobody cares about. Only one real issue - the VF should be enlarged. And the grip should be cheaper/bundled. But kids with money and youtube has decided that the XT2/XPro2/X-E3 image quality and AF abilities are sub-par for 2020, it seems. As we know, the artists of today are so amazingly good that they need the absolute latest sensor and processor to reach the artistic freedom they require for their talent to shine (some sarcasm may have been involved in this sentence). To me the XPro3 makes sense because of the screen/layout and the OVF. Because if we think about it for a second - how much still image-quality gain does the xtrans4 sensor give still photographers? And who was ever considering the xPro layout a hybrid video camera (where there certainly are benefits of the latest sensor generation)? I am willing to bet that one would stump anybody's ability to separate the cheap xe3 images from the less cheap xpro3 in a real-world image quality comparison (by keeping the exif data unavailable and not allowing pixel-peeking beyond 100%). I am willing to confess that one probably do get a bit lower image-dismissal rate due to focus issues on the xpro3 if one is of the point and spray kind of guy. My point is that is happy days all around for photographers who cracked the understanding that one can be a very happy puppy by understanding that one is probably not such a history-changing talent that one needs the latest gen camera to do well and improve. If one looks back at some of the most iconic images of the last 2 decades, I bet significant numbers were shot on the EOS1d mk ii or similar ultra-high-end spec'd bodies. Having 30% extra pixels, better AF, 2-3 extra stops of ISO-flexibility with less noise and a few extra stops of usable dynamic range etc on a 2020 last-gen budget camera is hardly an excuse for taking less than stellar and iconic images every day of the week. As we should remember that we can stitch. We focus stack. With can make images look HDR bonkers with the click of a button from very capable files. I am yet to see anyone discuss the lack of photographic quality in the amazing documentary work the finest photographers on the planet did in the aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Less hamster wheel of specs. More amazing images.
As an x-E3 user, I have been really looking into the new x-pro3 due to the hype. I just don’t see the need to change over for the work I do. Still a very sexy camera
@@glacieractivity thank you! I fully agree. I've always chosen my cameras according to me possibilities and my skills. In these days I use the X-E3 and the X-H1 depending on the situation and the challenge. The photos I get are similar and quality is more than enough. The tool used makes a difference and sense as long as it helps getting the job done (better). On the other, emotional side there's only temporarily satisfaction.
its not a 2000$ camera for a hidden screen, its also the OVF+EVF design on the side along the strong body material. :\ and i think fuji going half way is better than the alternative to go FULL no screen, cant imagine people who dislike the screen to hate it even more and what benefits would fuji really get for removing the screen all together at that point vs the flip screen, its not going to be cheaper and doubt its gonna be faster. the flip down does help and is easier to pull out when shooting low angles or stealthy and so its still useful
Kinda interesting camera idea, but really hitting DISP button a few times to turn off back screen on X-T3/X-Pro2 is much cheaper. :D Fuji seems to be following gimmicks since they hit gold with X-T2/X-Pro2, two amazing bodies. Curious what will be announced in Feb with next x-t4(X-H2???) and X100V. Hoping they get back to roots of what they did in the 2 series. Love the video man.
Nice vid to watch, bought my first fuji last year (Second hand) X100F and love, love the colours, its such a good stills camera. Anyways, good honest review mate and nice to see you getting some Manchester rain in Atlanta :)
Spot on with review. I kept mine for just over a week before returning it. For me the hidden screen was ok sometimes but missed it other. I would of preferred the Olympus route were you can twist it to have it hidden or not. The uk price for the standard black version is $2300 ouch. Come on fujifilm where is the charger for that price. So for me I’ll wait to see what the xt4 will be like even though I would love one of the leicas. 👍🏻
Don't get why ppl complain about the camera bodies losing value over time. Yeah, it costs less a year later. So does your phone, your car, etc. In the meanwhile though, you got value out of using it, you got great pictures, possibly did some work with it, got some money back, etc. If it was sitting on a self unused, and after a year you complain the price/value dropped? That's on you.
As always, a great review. About the rear screen - If this was a Nikon or Canon DSLR, you would look at the top screen to check your settings! Right? So, what's the difference in having to look at the rear screen for the same type of information? That's how I understand the rear screen. It's the same way I view the top screen on my X-H1! No big deal!
I agree with everything but the price....this is aimed at the street shooter that wants (or thinks they need LOL) a Leica. So it is much cheaper...especially once you add lenses. I'm not a rangefinder shooter so this isn't for me at all. Much prefer the XT3/30 style. Keep up the great work. Love your videos.
No even a comparison. Leica M are full frame and real rangefinders and the build quality is on another level... Xpro is not. $2k is a lot of money for just another Autofocus APS-C camera that is shaped to only look like a rangefinder and not perform like one.
@@alozor13 Well the good thing about life is we all have our own opinions and preferences :-) I'm glad you like Leica. Again...I'm not a fan of the Xpro (or Leica).
It’s important to consumers that this is a camera for purists, throwback etc. Not for professional use like the Canon, Nikon, Sony. This camera has a different purpose. I love it.
As someone tempted hard by this camera to switch back from Sony, a few observations. First, I think the whole "cannibalizing the price/value" isn't a Fuji thing, it's just a by-product of the digital imaging arms race. Companies are pushed to release newer tech so that reviewers don't start saying things like "it only has 4k..." and it's a hard line to walk. Second, I sort of feel you on the secondary screen thing. I was a film shooter. I get the nostalgia, but I'd rather have no external screen than something that feels gimmicky. Oh, and the OVF feels like a step backward from the x-Pro2.
I have an xpro2 and use the 16-55 with it all of the time. A good thumb grip fixes the problem completely. That lens ends up balancing better on the Xpro than the Xt series.
I plan on getting it in the next couple of months. I like it and I love that the screen is hidden and it feels like you're more focused on shooting and not messing around with lots of stuff. I shoot film, and this will be my digital camera.
I don't understand complains about price. Look at Sony APS-C, how much is the A6600? And is it better than Fuji? Who makes better APS-C cameras with these stills quality and video features and wide lenses choice for less?
I agree with you on all those points. Even though I feel that the hybrid EVF/OVF is innovative in the XPro and X100 cameras, after using my old XPro 1 for a few years, I haven't been able to justify it since I rarely use it in OVF mode. I say that, also being an owner of numerous film rangefinder cameras that I very much enjoy for their rangefinder based optical viewfinders. As for the rear information display, I find it a gimmick since I also shoot RAW and don't need to see the settings on the back because I can see what is important by looking at the dials like I do with my film cameras. Finally, I agree about the price and the fact they depreciate rapidly. In fact, if I really wanted another Fuji camera, I would just wait until the next generation is released and go buy the discounted previous generation.
I own the X-Pro2 und love the experience shooting this camera. I think the X-Pro2 is best used with Fuji primes. Yes it's more expensive that the X-T3 but it's very special. If I would be a X-Pro1 I owner I would jump to the X-Pro3 immediately .
Not weird at all, its definitely fun to use! I just always find myself gravitating back to the EVF because of the accuracy of it. But OVF is for sure more fun .Thanks for watching!
What lens, lenses did you use on the camera for your walk about pictures? I enjoyed the video. I liked the user scenarios you identified. You hit my reasons for buying the camera on a couple of them.
Why don’t you consider Capture One over Lightroom? Apparently from what people have seen it renders Fujifilm RAW files better and that Fuji have worked extensively with Capture One to make them work well together
Im in love with rangefinder after I got my first analog, but I’m staying with the T3 at that price tag. Maybe when the Pro4 comes out. Also thanks for the Book reference, first international Book Order 😱
Evan, since you already own a Q2 or QP (28mm f/1.7 summilux), ... which 35mm lens would you get for SL2 or M10-P ? the APO-Summicron-SL 35mm f/2 or Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH (non-APO but cheaper than SL35) ? SL2 & Q have similar shooting experience, both being mirrorless (except the position of their EVFs), ... which is different to shooting an M rangefinder. I am finding it difficult to manually focus my 50mm Summilux on the M10-P ! hope it will be easier after 15 days of shooting, and it generally takes that much time, i was told.
Evan Ranft I personally would love to own the Q-P. It suits my shooting style and needs. It also keeps me from needing to buy lenses that are mad expensive!!! If only money grew on trees for our camera gear addictions. Haha also I would say the M10 over the SL2 personally because I dislike the body style of the SL2. I definitely prefer the rangefinder bodies.
How do you charge your client you work with for the shoe and clothing photos , like your standard hourly rate or do you do something different specific to them, I’m having trouble pricing out work for a local t shirt company
Great review..i like the honest opinion. i think the x-pro series are targeted for people who enjoy the rangefinder style camera. With that being said, i have an x-pro2, and i really think the pro3 may not be enough to justify the upgrade. Sure enough it has faster AF and classic neg film but for me i do my own post processing in C1 and film simulation maybe not as important anymore. the hidden lcd screen is a 50/50 for me. i dont chimp a lot on my xpro2 either but i do appreciate at least the the waist level shooting is now easier. i could only say that the x-pro3 is a more polished product of the x-pro series. does it worth the price tag? maybe yes for every new xpro user. and maybe no for people like me who has the pro2. But the xpro series does provide an enjoyable shooting experience. I think people buy it for its shooting experience. just my 2 cents.
Really appreciate the good insight! This will help out a lot of people watching the video looking for different opinions. Thanks for taking the time to write it out!
Same! Was wondering if his Pro2 got retired for this thing or not. I haven't seen many opinions on whether this feels like a justified upgrade over the previous version.
Eh, I kinda miss the d-pad. It just feels easier to navigate stuff. But at the same time, the joystick isn't bad. Definitely not a deal breaker. Thank you for watching!
Hello Evan, love your channel. It's great to have someone giving his point of view after using a product for more that one day. I have been waiting for your final thoughts on the X-Pro3. True, it's a bit expensive for an aps-c camera, with many things from X-T3, and other things remove from X-T3, like on the video part. I am still wondering if i buy it or not. I am not a big fan anymore about mirrorless with the look of a reflex; I am deeply in love with rangefinder style camera. I guess i will wait few more day to make up my mind. I really want to see what the X100V will have, and maybe i will go for the X100V and another camera for video, like Canon M6 Mk II. Thanks a lot for your work. Regards from France
That's why I left Fujifilm. Fujifilm camera developer guy always says APS-C sensor is enough to take good pictures, newest camera comes with highest technical specification while they make medium format cameras and even their flagship APS-C camera is released with full frame sensor camera price.
Yeah! Everything is based on perception. Thats why in these videos I just like to share my opinions without making it seem like fact. Plenty of people will love this camera and plenty won't. Thanks for watching!
I've been enjoying being able to hide the screen on my cameras for over a decade now, including my newest camera that's full frame and only half the price this Fuji. I usually like Fuji's designs, but this one's too wacky for me.
Has Fuji Raw still have those worm like artifacts? That’s what made me sell my XT3... Pretty excited about the XT4 whenever Fiț coms out. Would love to own an XPro 3 but for $2k, no IBIS and no fully functional Read screen this camera is not for me. Great review Evan.
I don't have those worm artifact anymore with my XT3, in Lightroom they added a function "enhance sharpness" or something like that, and it become like any raw file from other camera.
Quite interested in this camera for my secondary camera due to the film simulations & its design for street. Can it shoot raw + jpeg with film simulations enabled at the same time?
Yeah! The jpg will have whatever simulation and customizations applied, but the raw files import into Lightroom as Adobe color standard (so no film simulation applied to raw)
Hi guys, can anyone confirm if this is normal? xpro3 with last update + 56mm. Only with face or eye detection it takes a few seconds for evf or ovf to adapt to light. Test that 56mm on xt2 same settings and works fine.
you can put the screen inside with a full flippy screen to the side, my screen is 90% of the time inside on my gx8 an other lumix bodys and if I wil look at the screen im turning it outsite no problem. this is a overthinking think from fuji why not a normal articulated screen and a small screen on the outside of the screen where normaly the name brand is.
Thanks. I bought the H1 when it first came out for $1800 body only. Ten months later is drops to nearly half. Why? I feel like they screwed me to clear the shelves of a camera that wasn’t selling. They protected the retailers instead of the customers. They should have offered the retail stores a buy back rather than hurt the customers. Not good brand protection. Who would be dumb enough now to buy a new Fuji when it first comes out when they can wait 6 months to a years and get it for much less? Dumb Fuji. Really dumb.
I think simply that the xpro is for someone who can’t swing buying a Leica. For me, I have a x100t and I love it...but it’s because I can’t justify a Leica Q. I use a a7iii for paid shoots.
My Leica m3 was over 2500.00 No screen needed Screens aren’t important I don’t even see my photographs until I Develop negatives Go to my darkroom Make contract sheets Print a negative Evaluate the first print Edit print into a master print Oh the horror.
I recently picked up Fujifilm X-H1 for $999.99 and couldn't be happier. X-Pro3? I'll rather search for a good X-Pro2 for a reasonable price. If I'd needed that type of camera...
I'm solely a Leica user and have owned both X-Pro1 and 2 cameras. I was intrigued about the Pro3 and had hands on with one and enjoyed my brief time with it. Is it 'worth' 2.5 times more than the Pro2 - it's a subjective argument for sure. You really nailed a lot of people's thoughts I've read online from people that have dipped their toe in the Pro3. Great video.
Been watching you for a while and it just occured to me that u record just about anywhere which makes me wonder do you always use the in camera microphone or do u have an external mic on board?
I know it wasn't easy but it was either them designing the screen this way, or make a Leica MD knockoff with no screen and you connect your phone to the built-in wifi.
thank you for the video. you have pushed me to the XT4 and i will wait to see what Fuji does for the Xpro4. thanks!
Thanks for your honesty and honest review, great arguments you mention 6minutes and later into the video from your experience +1
Just get a x100v ...
How is it any more purpose driven for street than any other digital camera?
If you shot from the waist just get a Ricoh GRIII... I have one and I love it.
@@FauxtakuLounge the size, ergonomics, and design?
@@ultimatechrisso6592 then you’re stuck with only one focal length.
Evan Ranft what camera are you using to vlog in this one? I assume it is not an H-1. When is the next Atlanta meet up?
LifeAt35mm this was shot on my Nikon 810 👍
Evan,
Great video. I personally would prefer the Xt3 for the money. If I want a rangefinder style camera, I’ll grab my X100f.
"2000$ is a lot!" says the man who bought a Leica Q!...😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's a lot when you can get a camera from the same brand with similar performances, same sensor and lens mount for half the price...
I agree with some of the other comments. Its not about the money spent, its about what exactly your getting and how you value the features/specs in a camera. Appreciate you watching!
@@TaipeiGeek You missed something. You should have started with "In my opinion". Because that's all it really is.
Taipei Geek Fuji jpegs to name but one.
Fuji’s 23 mm F2 could probably fit in a Z6 twice.
I know which camera i am shooting street with.
Great insight! that lens is a beast. Appreciate you watching|!
Bad weather makes for good photos!
The X-Pro2 came out in March 2016 and the X-Pro3 was available in November 2019. That is 3.5 years between. Not bad these days.
Makes xpro2 more attractive value wise.
I have been saving up for a Leica Q2 but I'm now thinking about the X-Pro 3 with the XF16mm 1.4 WR because the reasons for the Leica are
- viewfinder (my GR III doesn't have one :P I also want it on the left side and not the middle of the camera)
- manual focusing on the lens with a distance scale
- weather resistance
And the XPro-3 ticks all those boxes (although the Leica Q2 probably has the better lens and is of course glorious Full Frame)
Owning a Leica M4 and M6, getting this camera to avoid the crazy price tag for a M10, I will be shooting digital next to Analog. I’m really excited!
Thanks! Really appreciate it.
I love Fujifilm X range but I totally agree about the way they release new cameras yearly and slash the price of the cameras prior.
Wow thanks!! Really appreciate the kind words!
love the rangefinder look of the x-pro series
Great review, thanks! With the X-Pro2 and most other cameras, you can turn off the back screen if you don’t want to be tempted to chimp, so I don’t really get the purpose of hiding the screen. I think I’ll skip this camera.
You said it not me lol. Appreciate the insight
Thanks.
Thank you for the informative review. I have an XPro2 and see no reason to upgrade at this point.
Thumbs up! 👍🏾
The 'X-T4" is coming. We'll seee what that's goign to be like.
Awesome video dude!! Keep killing it
SUBSCRIBED!
clearly the xpro3 is not for everyone. Honestly I'd love to own a fuji xt1 for 2020.
That takes me back to the X-E3. The simpler X-Pro
@@matthew937 I agree, Matt. The temptation is there, but I'm missing the need.
and i think fuji going half way is better than the alternative to go FULL no screen, cant imagine people who dislike the screen to hate it even more and what benefits would fuji really get for removing the screen all together at that point vs the flip screen, its not going to be cheaper and doubt its gonna be faster.
the flip down does help and is easier to pull out when shooting low angles or stealthy and so its still useful
Evan if you don't want to do photography in the rain come shot photos out west. Hardly ever rains here in New Mexico. Just an idea. Enjoying the Vlog.
@@timbliss8777 Just facts, not opinions. Never said I like leica.
Thank you! Really appreciate you watching
Man, you're the best
Dude love that shot at 6:11 - oranges pop!
same here
Thanks!!
and xt-4 is coming! so many cameras from fuji!
Sounds like me and you are on the same page!!! Thanks for watching the video, really appreciate it.
Two years later and the price has not dropped a dollar…..quite interesting.
Great vids evan, i really like it
🙏
i hope you can see my IG @roandale_zamora really like your photography style
You said you owned both the XH1 and the XPro3... I own a X-E3 but want a center viewfinder camera, (I miss my Nikon) which would you go for?
All Canon cameras with articulated screens are essentially hidden screens.... fun fact! 🤔
Hmmmm... I never thought of it like that but good point.
I own the X-Pro2 und love the experience shooting this camera. I think the X-Pro2 is best used with Fuji primes. Yes it's more expensive that the X-T3 but it's very special. If I would be a X-Pro1 I owner I would jump to the X-Pro3 immediately .
Really valuable insight, thanks for the comment!
Good honest review. Refreshing to hear someone not just saying all positives
great honest review, about optical viewfinder, i do enjoy shooting with my leica M. but i most probably can nail better compositions with an evf
Exactly!
I m getting fun using the OVF rather than the EVF... Am I wierd ? I found that most people seems to use xpro cameras with evf only
Not weird at all, its definitely fun to use! I just always find myself gravitating back to the EVF because of the accuracy of it. But OVF is for sure more fun .Thanks for watching!
Totally agreed with the X-pro line offers a different shooting experience.
What lens, lenses did you use on the camera for your walk about pictures? I enjoyed the video. I liked the user scenarios you identified. You hit my reasons for buying the camera on a couple of them.
Just got your photobook in the mail!! It looks really good!! I Like It..!!
Why don’t you consider Capture One over Lightroom? Apparently from what people have seen it renders Fujifilm RAW files better and that Fuji have worked extensively with Capture One to make them work well together
luv my xpro 3 and x100f
I smell the x100f is gonna be changed soon
I see that 16-55 lens the first Time in your Videos. Do you think it is worth the Price compared to the 18-55?
Im in love with rangefinder after I got my first analog, but I’m staying with the T3 at that price tag. Maybe when the Pro4 comes out.
Also thanks for the Book reference, first international Book Order 😱
Oh wow thanks for ordering one!!!
if you already have a t3, it for sure could be tough to justify a pro3 purchase! Thanks for watching
Which Leica are you saving up to purchase ?! You know we’re all wondering it ! Haha
Probably m10 or sl2. But the camera tech is innovating so quickly I'm kinda waiting to see what happens the first half of this year.
I sell my EosR. Tips ? New Fuji xPro 3 or Leica Q?
Side note. What do you think of the Xe4?
Love the pics in your book! :-)
For just under 3000 euros you can buy a used M240 and have some nice voigtlander lenses. Too pricy for a "range finder style".
So are you keeping it? That’s the one question I was waiting for lol. Great video.
Same! Was wondering if his Pro2 got retired for this thing or not. I haven't seen many opinions on whether this feels like a justified upgrade over the previous version.
Im not getting one- had to send this one back and don't plan on buying one. At least for right now at the current price point.
Evan Ranft that’s fair. Your point on the XT3 is super valid. You should rent one of those for a few videos. I think you’d dig it.
Evan, do you miss the d-pad or do you prefer the joystick only?
Compare functionality and image quality to a Leica M10D.. is the Fuji a bargain? Yes it is!
One word answer Evan , q or xpro3 ? 🍻👍🏻
Most importantly... what are the new sunglasses you are rockin'???
Would love to see what you think about the Olympus OM-D EM5 III
Has Fuji Raw still have those worm like artifacts? That’s what made me sell my XT3...
Pretty excited about the XT4 whenever Fiț coms out. Would love to own an XPro 3 but for $2k, no IBIS and no fully functional Read screen this camera is not for me. Great review Evan.
I don't have those worm artifact anymore with my XT3, in Lightroom they added a function "enhance sharpness" or something like that, and it become like any raw file from other camera.
Kawaspresso that’s awesome
Quite interested in this camera for my secondary camera due to the film simulations & its design for street. Can it shoot raw + jpeg with film simulations enabled at the same time?
Yeah! The jpg will have whatever simulation and customizations applied, but the raw files import into Lightroom as Adobe color standard (so no film simulation applied to raw)
@@RanftEvan Thats prefect then! Thanks alot man, love your work & content!
Hi guys, can anyone confirm if this is normal? xpro3 with last update + 56mm.
Only with face or eye detection it takes a few seconds for evf or ovf to adapt to light.
Test that 56mm on xt2 same settings and works fine.
I'm living the XH-1 Blues, shocking how much I payed for it new, great camera though.
you can put the screen inside with a full flippy screen to the side, my screen is 90% of the time inside on my gx8 an other lumix bodys and if I wil look at the screen im turning it outsite no problem. this is a overthinking think from fuji why not a normal articulated screen and a small screen on the outside of the screen where normaly the name brand is.
I prefer shooting film. I love this camera for that reason. Like using a film camera without the development costs 🤬😖
LETS GET 2K
Nice transitions at the beginning
Perfect time to pick up a xpro2 but I already have one .
My Leica m3 was over 2500.00
No screen needed
Screens aren’t important
I don’t even see my photographs until I
Develop negatives
Go to my darkroom
Make contract sheets
Print a negative
Evaluate the first print
Edit print into a master print
Oh the horror.
I recently picked up Fujifilm X-H1 for $999.99 and couldn't be happier.
X-Pro3? I'll rather search for a good X-Pro2 for a reasonable price. If I'd needed that type of camera...
Not a bad call!
Ps. Photo book ordered 😜👍
