I lived in London 18 years, and I've gotta say, these Euro V ZF Citaros have the loudest and the greatest kickdowns of any bus in London. So sad when 227's batch got withdrawn.
I absolutely love driving these, there’s a significant difference between the Euro 4 and 5 ones, we’ve got both here in Plymouth and I must say, even though the Euro 4’s rev much higher, I actually prefer the Euro 5’s behaviour, I wish ours slipped and locked in 1st AND 2nd, ours just slip and lock in 1st and stay locked throughout. Great video as usual!
Can ZF Ecolite's be programmed to slip and lock in 2nd gear?
@@jaggass yes...and u mean ecomat/Ecolife. ecolite are not exists
@@ZackZackZaberdak Yes that's what i mean. Ecomat's to me are the better gearboxes.
Damn ! This kickdown reminds me of most of the bus drivers that have Citaros in Paris ! Almost all of them do some kickdowns!

Hello, I'm Brazilian and here the Mercedes Benz OM 926 LA Euro 5 engine is used. Even changing the engine series, the sound remains almost the same as the previous series.
It's actually a OM906 LA

That’s why I don’t bother with the 108 anymore. I’d rather try for the MECs at Carousel Buses, they may not always be kicked but at least I’ve got a chance some might be at some point 🤷🏻♂️
It feels like that’ll never happen if I keep trying on the 108 no matter what time of day it is! I don’t know why!
@@ChilternTransportProductions I use the 108 regularly and know the faces and driving styles of the regular late turn drivers! Only a couple will use the kickdown frequently. Sometimes drivers who aren't on the rota do the route and they tend to be the ones who hammer these!
You have to be quite lucky to get a fast driver!

Well, the ones that stayed in London. There’s 8 with Carousel Buses in High Wycombe that work routes to Uxbridge and Watford, which are even better than the 108!
