It's a lot easier to remove the old solder from the ground mounting-tab holes using a quality solder sucker than it is using solder braid. You can completely remove the solder so installing the new port is easy. Also, to avoid damaging the board, you can always cut away everything until all that's left is the pins, and then a simple flick of a soldering iron with remove them from the board. That method works great for anyone who doesn't have a desoldering station. Anyone with a roto tool such as a Dremal can carefully cut away the top of the housing, remove the plastic parts, cut off the pins, and then remove the housing from the board. I think it's easier to avoid damaging the board using a roto tool than it is to avoid overheating the board, or not heating it enough causing a trace to come off with the pins.
great video. couple of tips... 1..to clear out the solder out of the holes, heat up till solder is flowing, then gently tap the board and the solder will come off the holes.. 2.. to make it easier to remove excess solder, as you solder use a stainless steel scrubbing pad and run the tip of the soldering iron across it to clean it as you are soldering, this will clean out the burnt flux.. and BTW if you are new to soldering make sure you DO NOT buy acid flux.
At 9:16 you are trying to remove the solder from the holes. There are several ways to clear them, one being the use of hot air blown through a small tube directed at each hole. The other is to use the wick from the opposite side. There is a third way but not recommended for such a delicate work, but I have used for more rugged boards, and that is to heat the holes and flick or tap the board against a piece of soft material (such as cardboard) so the shock of the blow kicks the solder out.
I know im asking randomly but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the account password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
My charging port littlerly broke out I think it burned or something 😭 but maybe u can fix it or even read my help moment and if u did how much would u charge for it?
Yeepp these tiny ports are satan's work. I just replaced new battery to my mother's tablet and happily tried to charge it for the first time just to notice that it doesn't charge. I put the old battery back and it didn't charge either. Then I checked the usb port and it looks like absolute crap. Apparently my charger plug messed it up because mother has been using her own same charger for years so usb port and charger plug are like old married couple. Now that old usb port dropped dead because it couldn't handle my new and tight charger plug. Just great, tablet with new battery and not being able to charge it. So remember people, DO NOT use another charger if same charger has been used for the device for very long time.
I have replace the MicroUSB ports in tablets (Samsung and Lenovo) and in two Samsung phones, too, so I know why they fail. The most common cause of failure is that the MicroUSB port is not symmetric. It has a flat side down and a curved side up. Many seniors and users with vision disabilities cannot see the plug end and will push the plug in upside down. The pressure will push the inner contacts up and either distort them or rip the contacts off the board. This is why newer devices have the USB type "C" port which is reversible and needs less physical effort (push) to connect. One solution for existing MicroUSB devices is a a cable with a special dual-sided MicroUSB plug that is reversible, and can be plugged it any side up, but the cable is more expensive. Anyway, just remember these causes, and either get the cable or replace the device with a newer one that uses USB "C".port and cable.
my tab 4 is not charging but the battery is good because i changed the board it works perfect except that the wifi on that board does not work!!! can you help??
what do I do my acer tablet won't charge when I put the charger in it will say charging for about 10 to 15 seconds only if i tilt it. then it will not charging so what do I do. PS.PLZ REPLY
Yeah, and I totally had to end up scraping the shit out of the tablet, the silver is all tore up, and I still can't get it apart or even back together. FUCK these tablets!!!
This is why people who are not technically inclined should not be taking tablets, phones and computers apart. Everyone thinks they are a tech these days.

with all due respect I wouldn't send my product to u for repair. very poorly done
what was poorly done? y make negative comments? just don't watch if you don't like.

I agree, very hamfisted attempt, made a right mess. Why didn't you use a heat pen to remove the socket? Certainly not a professional repair.
