Sheehan's Tone, and Style are unconventional...he's made a career from it...he makes it work...I'm very impressed with his Talent, and him as an Individual.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost my login password. I love any help you can offer me.
I live in Arlington Texas,I've had Clint Strong in my House, he's always been amazing From the days of playing the restaurant ABERNATHY'S in Pantego Texas
I am a bit embarrassed to say that I had never heard of Clint Strong before, but I heard him now, Wow! Billy Shehan laying it down like it is the last thing he will ever do.
This is awesome and as for all the discussion about the tones and styles, they probably didn't show up that day to make a jazz record, they just played and this is what happened, it's called fun. My opinion is that good music has no rules.
Wes Hall good music has tons of rules. U just have to know them before u start breaking them willy nilly. For instance, if Billy just turned up the treble and droned on one open note.....it would not be good. Weird, yes, but good entails knowing alot, and applying that knowledge in a way that will appeal in some way to a listener. If there were no rules, we would all be great musicians all the time.
Brilliant Guitar Playing. Clint honors the McCoy Tyner flavored version with his unique improvisations. Clint is alive and well in Dallas, Texas and touring on occasion.
Clint is one of the great unsung heroes…he lived up by us and was a great influence and mentor to me….and I still can’t play a single line that would make him proud LOL.
I love this! A lot of the rhythm section jamming reminds me of the middle portion of Rush's "Freewill" just before the guitar solo. They are all amazing. It's like hearing Joe Pass jamming with Geddy and Neil.
Clint Strong is and has always been incredible! The same goes for billy! @ Hal your right man Sheehan can hold his own in any musical situation I feel. GREAT STUFF!
I'm a bill- iever... Once you get over his gnarly tone in this setting, you realise he's laying down some great backing, playing the changes and sneaking in some great parts.. 5:00 for example.
I love Billy Sheehan;s playing, all of it. I'm a guitarist and I always sought out the guitarist albums with Billy on bass. So exciting his playing. He has no boundaries, just making music with his uniqueness. Inspiring
I like how Billy opens up. At times he sounds like he's playing with a bow, almost Hendrixy. I hear a lot of Lenny Breau in Clint's single note lines, so fluid and inventive. Thy're like kids on a playground, following, playing off each other. Lightning reflexes, almost telepathic.
Great dual, two, too and froing with an amazing drummer. Guitar and Bass and Drums have cleverly taken to realms beyond where it has gone before with that tune for sure. A musical adventure!
The HD version is located here, not sure why this one was still up or why no one seems to be watching and commenting on the HD version!! Billy Sheehan, Clint Strong, and Mike Gage Amazing Jam Session in HD
These are a few of my favourite things. What synchronized exchange between Billy and the guitar player Clint ,who definitely got Steve Howe in his influences. This trio is red hot sizzlin! And I hear Chris Squire in that compressed crunch of Sheehan!Man ,these cats are circling and weaving up in the stratosphere! I swear, I can feel each instrument "communicating ".These guys are all TOP LISTENERS.This is crucial for the improvised sections,so everyone has a marker (sonic)4 reference so the transition is seamless.Bravissimmo!
Sheehans tone is what allows people to know its him...His voice...his signature. From Marcus Miller, StaNLEY cLARKE, Geddy Lee to WOOTEN, your sound is everything.
I went to high school with Billy Sheehan. He was actually in a jazz group with a sax player and pianist when I heard him first play My Favorite Things.
Clint can play anything superbly. Years ago, he came to Tallahassee with Merle & sat in with me 4 nights at a small hotel lounge. No one knows the frets better. His main early influence was Howard Roberts, a friend of the family. Manic metal commentators are out of their depth here.
@Jeffrey W It is a song from The Sound of Music, made more popular by the legendary saxophone player named John Coltrane: The Sound of Music-My Favorite Things Listen to the melody they played in the beginning and you should hear, that it is the same song. I will say though, with no intention to insult their playing here, I don't really think, that they did the song justice.
reminds me the movie "The Sound of music" and Julie Andrews.. "... Raindrops and roses and whiskers on kittens Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens Brown paper packages tied up with strings These are a few of my favorite things..." Billy Sheehan, Clint Strong, and Mike Gage, These guys are really my favorite things !!
Tone is subjective, hello? Masterful playing and ideas put forth here. Don't let the decrees of the tone gods rob your ears of what's going on musically.
Billy Sheehan é um monstro, toca muito... com certeza é um dos melhores do mundo ! (Billy Sheehan is a monster, he plays a lot ... he sure is one of the best in the world!)
hmm I happen to be one of those guys who really likes his tone (especially here). I think it fits nice in this jazzy fusion setting. Great stuff and one of my favorite Billy jams:)
Billy is definitely not the player suited to this style, but his musicality allows him to have at it, I personally like it.I'm so sick of and completely bored to tears with pretty/proper/clean/Jaco-esque style tone and playing, I could puke.Give me grit and personality any fucking day, just so I don't fall asleep.
Hey Mike! Great playin'! (D. Brown here) While I love Clint's playing all around I just wish that Billy would vary his tone a bit. It works for the solo, but is a bit over-bearing during the head and GTR solo sections.
Sheehan's Tone, and Style are unconventional...he's made a career from it...he makes it work...I'm very impressed with his Talent, and him as an Individual.
Billy can handle himself even with a style that he is not know to be part of.... He is truly amazing.

Billy, your transition from Basslines, to Rhythm, to Lead is flawlessly fluid.
When there's talk of greatest bass players you never hear Billy's name this man is a beast😎👍
I live in Arlington Texas,I've had Clint Strong in my House, he's always been amazing From the days of playing the restaurant ABERNATHY'S in Pantego Texas
Billy does have an uncanny ability to mold himself into any genre while retaining his signature style....Great improv jam!
I am a bit embarrassed to say that I had never heard of Clint Strong before, but I heard him now, Wow! Billy Shehan laying it down like it is the last thing he will ever do.
the best Sheehan's bass line I've ever heard! Not too noisy and speedy but smooth and very touchy. awesome!

Weirdly enough, these are a few of my favorite things
Brilliant Guitar Playing. Clint honors the McCoy Tyner flavored version with his unique improvisations. Clint is alive and well in Dallas, Texas and touring on occasion.
Loving the bass tone. Dirty!!
The bass tone might be better suited to heavy metal and not jazz!!
I love his bass tone, sounds gorgeous
I think that tone fits fine with jazz
@@johnpauljones6229 It reminds me a lot of Anthony Jackson's tone - well known jazz player, I think it fits super well!
Clint Strong is Amazing!guitar player
Clint Strong looks like the guy who drives the Corvette up and down our street...you can't judge a book by its cover, this guy is sick.
Clint is one of the great unsung heroes…he lived up by us and was a great influence and mentor to me….and I still can’t play a single line that would make him proud LOL.
I keep coming back to this and digging more than I want to admit everytime
Great Jam Session which I found accidentally.
The best performance!
Paul Gilbert is as easily as great on his instrument.
There are no accidental discoveries on YT.
I love this! A lot of the rhythm section jamming reminds me of the middle portion of Rush's "Freewill" just before the guitar solo. They are all amazing. It's like hearing Joe Pass jamming with Geddy and Neil.
AWESOME.....These guys demonstrate why they are considered to be the best of the best at what they do!

Amazing Musicianship!!
@Martin G Too much pathetic viewer complaint on bass sounds.!! What a pathetic.!! Go get life.!! And play real music like billy. 😂
Genius... Billy Sheehan is great!!!!
Wow, I never thought I'd see Billy Sheahan playing My Favorite Things. Awesome!
This is just too cool - from the groove to the setting to everything ...... fantastic!
Billy's my hometown wonder boy ! I remember the days of Talas ! Buffalo had some of the greatest musicians anywhere !
these are a few of my favorite things!
why would any one give this a thumbs down?????? improve at its finest
Billy’s bass tone is the best great song
The best jam that I have seen in the last times
Amazing guitar lines… brilliant playing across the board 🔥
I LOVE his tone. To each his own, I guess.
Clint can play anything superbly. Years ago, he came to Tallahassee with Merle & sat in with me 4 nights at a small hotel lounge. No one knows the frets better. His main early influence was Howard Roberts, a friend of the family. Manic metal commentators are out of their depth here.
Holy Moly...this is a hell of a jam! Awesome!
Reading these comments, I seem to be the only one that likes his distorted, driving bass playing in this jam.
WOW! New respect for Billy Sheehan!

Billy playing jazz is the best thing ever
reminds me the movie "The Sound of music" and Julie Andrews..

Billy Sheehan, Clint Strong, and Mike Gage, These guys are really my favorite things !!
Great mix of jazz and rock !! Awesome jam session !!
First take is always the best take - awesome!
I did not know Billy Sheehan could play jazz! Great jam!
These are a few of my favorite things.
Tone is subjective, hello? Masterful playing and ideas put forth here. Don't let the decrees of the tone gods rob your ears of what's going on musically.
That was a tight jam session.
My gosh, this is beautiful guys. So sick!!!
inspiring, great, intense, soulful- a master piece!
Billy Sheehan é um monstro, toca muito... com certeza é um dos melhores do mundo !

He is ....s'wonderful !
Ya'll are nuts. Billy sounds great
Definitely one of my favorite things
Just when I thought I was sounding 'good'. Ahhh humility.
Excellent playing!
I love it! Incredible!
King of bass
And we recorded everything...and uploaded it at 240p.
Epic... Awesome...Great Camera work and soundwork. Wow!
This is STUPID GOOD stuff here. Love it!
Absolutely awesome.
in this context you hear that Billy's tone is very similar to an upright - hadn't heard thst before. Sounds cool with those sustainng notes.
A lot of Pat Metheny in the guitar players licks..bass player - love it! (bass tone?)
Love the jam session!
Excellent !
Fine interpretation of Coltrane's "My Favorite Things". Superior musicianship.
EXCELENTE!!
some of my favorite things
Billy Sheehan to Clint Strong: "You are out of my league!"
Bullshit
Clint Strong just loaded a lot of informations......and ideas...man .....
Billy Sheehan opened up a bar of Ged Lee crunch.
love that jazzy guitar too:)
Always the best.
This is if Rush and the weather channel had a baby!
Clint is a helluva player....
Thats because the song 'Some of my favourite things' is from that movie/musical

Billy is definitely not the player suited to this style, but his musicality allows him to have at it, I personally like it.I'm so sick of and completely bored to tears with pretty/proper/clean/Jaco-esque style tone and playing, I could puke.Give me grit and personality any fucking day, just so I don't fall asleep.
very cool drummin btw- cant leave that out
Nice! Mingus would have loved Sheehan's bass playing!
I love it!!!!!!!
I was amused by the people bitching about Sheehan. He is a badass.
Hey Mike! Great playin'! (D. Brown here)
While I love Clint's playing all around I just wish that Billy would vary his tone a bit.
It works for the solo, but is a bit over-bearing during the head and GTR solo sections.
speechless... 3/4 time measure on the rock!!!!
woaaaaaaah superb
there isn't weak place💯
Wow the university jazz snobs are proud on the comments.
