I've been dipping for a little less than a year but my favorite tip that has made doing a mani so much easier and faster, is to start with your dominant hand and work from pinky to thumb. You get the hardest part out of the way while you still have energy and starting with the pinky has reduced the times I've bumped a nail and had to redo it 😊

One of the best tips I've ever received is to do my nails before bed (also when using tips/gel x). Try not to get your nails wet for at least 1-2 hours (overnight is better) after application. Also that toothpick trick was a game changer for me! Something I learned from Chelsea! 💛💙💜

Whether that be new techniques or trends or even just colors you wouldn’t normally wear. I’m an accountant, and I just did a neon mani and I’m IN LOVE!! If the powder or the smell are bothering you, you can either buy a nail dust collector, or make your own. To make your own, you just need one of those tiny desk fans, a shoebox or similar, and a dry swiffer pad. Cut a hole in the box that is slightly smaller than your fan, then put your fan in the hole front side down (so it's blowing on the table). Then put the swiffer pad on top and turn the fan on. Fumes and powder will be drawn into the swiffer and not blow into your face.

Hi! I've been dipping for around 9 months now. I did have a nail technician license 20 years ago, but I left it lapse because I got carpal tunnel during just the 7 weeks of schooling! I've been getting my nails done at a salon because I'm not ambidextrous, and acrylics were so hard to do on myself. Then about a year ago I noticed the salon offering dip powder, so I tried it and loved them. Nine months ago I discovered that you could buy dip powder kits online. And thanks to you and your RUclipsr friend Marla Kris, I've gotten so much better using the tips in your videos. So my best tip on doing dip powder nails is to watch videos to pick up on those tips that aren't in the dip kit instructions! Thank you! 😀

If you find you’ve bumped a nail before it’s dry and/or you’ve got a lot of filing to do in one specific area, you can “very gently” file problem areas before activator. It files much easier because it is softer. You just have to use a very light hand. Loved the mani!

Amazing video! I’ve been dipping for a few years and my biggest tip is to take your time on the prep of the nail. Having a well prepped nail means you can have long lasting nails! Also to have a clean cuticle line use a toothpick or pointy object to clean your cuticle after every dip. Taking your time on your cuticle area during the process will save you soo much time when you’re filing. One more tip…😅 to have a smooth application clean the excess liquid off the brush and take take your time to apply it on your nail !

The best tip I can offer is to prep, prep, prep. My prepping probably takes twice as long as the actual dipping process. Clean the cuticles well, file, and buff. When you think you’re finished filing and buffing, file and buff some more! Pour over with gel method has been a game changer for me. MUCH less filing needed! So much trial and error in finding what works for you.

Hello Chelsea, firstly, yours is the first nail dipping channel I subscribed to. You have taught me a lot about nail dipping. I have always been "into" nails. I was one of only girls in my high-school to always have my nails done. All of my pocket money went towards my nail obsession. There wasn't a lot of product available back in the '70s and in Northern Ontario, Canada. I love your channel and look forward to your posts each week. You have answered my questions without me having to even ask you. You have also introduced me to other YouTubbers doing dip nails, as well as, Canadian bloggers and their products. Thank you for all of your hard work and continued support to this genre. Happy 4th of July, as we are also celebrating our own Canada Day.

Hard to pin down one favorite. My favorites come from you. You are who I started watching very recently I might add and I’ve soaked up as much as I could. I have to give a short list…1) make sure your hands haven’t touched water for 1-2 hours before doing your nails 2) when removing dip powder use a baggie with two cotton balls just enough acetone and ADD coconut oil to keep your fingers from getting too dried out, place in a bowl of microwaved water for 1 minute (works like a charm to remove your dip in just a few minutes) 3) use a glass cuticle pusher to clean up the cuticles causing less damage to natural nail and cuticles. I could go on 😂. Thanks for all the great videos and entering me in your mystery drawing. 🎟️

Congratulations again Chelsea! So proud of how far you've come!
Soooo a couple tips I have are when applying your base liquid definitely start towards the middle of your nail and slowly work the base liquid back to your cuticle, this really helps with the cuticle line looking crisp and not getting bulky! Also recommend clear capping everything lol even flat colors. It really does protect all your hard work no matter what the finish of the dip powder! I also recommend always having something to help clean up the cuticle line on hand. It really makes or breaks the mani when the cuticle line is crisp! I've been doing my own dip nails for 3 years and I still use something to clean my cuticle line. Either a cuticle tool or a thin orange wood stick. A tip for beginners, use shimmer dips because they truly are the easiest to work with. If you're wanting to try a more chunky glitter then maybe start with a flaky dip instead of a chunky. This will help give you the feel for something a little more chunky but much easier to work with! Oh and one more lol start with your dominant hand (so working with your non dominant hand first) because then all that begining energy will go into the hand that's harder to do and when you're getting more tired you're working with your stronger hand anyway! THIS made all the difference for my manis! Hope these tips help someone! ❤
    Congratulations again Chelsea! 🎉🎉

If you suffer from dip flu but are frustrated with low odour liquids making your manis lift, try using a base coat of regular strength base liquid, dip in clear powder, then switch to your low odour liquids for the rest of your layers. This way your exposure is limited to the one layer and I find I this method makes my manis last until I choose to change them. I’m on day 10 with a mani using this method and it looks perfect ❤️. Make sure to push back the cuticles and I use a ball bit with my e-file to get any other cuticle remnants. Then I cleanse with alcohol and the a dehydrator, prime and I am ready to go. I'm new to dip nails. Did my second dip yesterday. I have learned so much from your videos. You have the most helpful tips especially for beginners. I can't wait to try the ombre at some point. Thank you.

Love this mani! My tip is don’t skip the prep before the dip. Cleaning up the cuticle and side walls makes your mani look so good after it’s done and helps your dip last longer.

😆🩷 oh nooo!! Maybe try on a swatch stick or with peel base next time to practice? I love to practice on swatches before my hands 🙌🏼

So beautiful! My tip is for chunky glitters. After clear cap you activate just once and then use a baggie or finger cot to smash them flat and then finish activating. This works so good

Thank you for your very informative videos! ❤️ I am a 60 year young beginner. My tip: be a sponge! Absorb all the information you can by watching videos and reading the reviews of the products you are researching. You can often read great tips in them. Learn as much as you can Before your first dip. This greatly reduced my potential frustrations. ❤️

Congratulations 🎊 Hope you feel better soon. I am still fairly new to the dipping process. Only a few months in and have been watching your videos from day 1. Thank you so much! 💕
My tip. I build my apex with clear dip and one full layer of clear. Then, I activate that, wait, shape the nail, clean with alcohol. Then I'll go in with whatever color dip twice and encapsulate in clear and activate again. A lot less shaping to do because I've already done some of it before.
I found that I have no issues with cracks or lifting doing it this way. I am not easy on my nails so added strength at the free edge is a must.
    Love all these tips!

Still new to it, but my lesson lately has been to check, check, check the edges for good coverage and smooth filing!

Hi, I have been dipping for a little less then a year. I absolutely love being able to do my own nails. One tip that I have learned so to stir the dip powder before I use it. That way it can get loose and will apply to the nail easier. Thank you for your videos and great ideas that you share.

Ciao! 💪🏻🙌🏻😇

I'm new to dip powders, got myself a small kit for my birthday yesterday. From what I've heard its good for beginners to start one nail at a time so the mistake you may make on that one nail wont be repeated on all the nails if you are able to see where you went wrong. So excited for this giveaway! 🎉🎉

My tip is to build an apex with clear before you apply your color. You can apex with your color but the color can look patchy or thin in some areas if you do this. Clear helps keep the apex there to keep your nails strong and last longer, and also keeps your color even!

I’ve been doing dip at home for about 1 year. Never dip at a salon (just gel).
Biggest tip I learned is the gel method. I get bad dip flu (didn’t know that, Chelsea taught me). I also learned there was such a thing as odorless liquids that help too but I prefer gel method so I can really get everything beat by my cuticle, there’s no time limit with gel

I keep my precision tool in a small amount of acetone and use that to clean up my cuticle lines. It takes the precision tool tip to the next level. I’m always on the struggle bus with my cuticle lines.
