Thank you Aggeliki! I teach/tutor students with dyslexia and have off and on for 20 years. I, too, left my last school. I could no longer stand the negative peer pressure and attitude of the vast majority of teachers that they "can't" teach students with dyslexia. EVERY child can learn if taught the way they learn best. Keep your beautiful spark and keep spreading your message. It is my dream that all teachers will come to see dyslexia as just another way to learn and learn to see the possibilities in their profession.
It was good to watch your story about your journey as a teacher. As a dyslexic I thought I was going to get some benefit from this, like how to remember more things, be mor productive etc. I think this should be titled “how dyslexic people helped me progress”.
Yeah, I came here thinking Aggeliki would teach a few things about how to help dyslexics. But the whole thing was just about her. Ugh. No wonder she was fired twice -- all she wants to do is talk about herself.
I was diagnosed with dyslexia when I was six years old. I am currently applying for teaching positions. I can tell you that it took me a long time but that now I see my dyslexia as a gift because it has helped me become the person I am today. I realize that sounds clichué but it's true. When I was twelve I has a teacher that stopped called me disabled and said I have a learning difference. I have been asked if I have cured my dyslexia my answer is always the same I don't need a cure. I can work with and around my dyslexia because it will always be part of who I am and I am proud to have dyslexia.
Light LoVe and Awake! I am grateful for feeling the heart connection of my speech....that was the whole point....Be blessed in your beautiful heart and mind!

I know Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost the account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Mekhi Beckett Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Great talk. My 8 year old has dyslexia and there is nothing wrong with him. I find value in thinking differently, and despite his challenges, I honestly believe in the next 10 years people will be embracing the beauty of dyslexia and easily compensating for any challenges or perceived weaknesses, instead of looking down upon people with learning differences. Every age is in the dark ages until there is new enlightenment. Thanks for sharing your enlightenment with us.
Thany-you, Fantastic presentation, you are a beautiful human. I was suicidal since I was about 8-10 years old as I hated myself for being "wrong and broken", I was always told that I wasnt good enough, laughed at, told I didnt try hard enough, disappointing my parents with my terrible grades etc. At 43 I found out I`m both ADHD and dyslectic and started the path of understanding and embracing my wild creative imaginative and hilarious brain and will finally say that I really do love myself. I am so grateful for people like yourself to helping us. Knowledge and love are our healers.
One of the best explanations of dyslexia I've heard, being a dyslexic myself one of the best ways you can learn as far as I'm concerned is use RUclips because you can repeat anything you need to know over and over again until you get it.
My mom & grandma beat me because I was a 6 year old who couldn't spell. I was 16 when a loving teacher discovered I had dyslexia. I wasn't helped by my mom and we moved soon after being told YET I learned how to dummy down my vocabulary of my brain in order to get out of my mouth what I wanted to say. I can't hear vowels. How fun is that? We are super smart yet we do not fit in the box the world puts humans in.
LOVE And God Bless you Aggeliki ! Dyslexia is a gift that is so sadly misunderstood which was almost unknown when I started school and I was also left handed. Teachers tried to force me for a year to learn to write right handed which slowed my process down even more. When I started freshman year of high school I took SAT and scored within the top 3 % percentile of the nation in spatial relations and learned that i see so much other people can not see. Thank you!
Thank you Aggeliki for your amazing contribution; I'm dyslexic and dyspraxic and was not diagnosed until my late 20's and left the school system torn and rejected; we need voices like you as SPLD'S are universal and transcend all boundaries which do not discriminate on class , race or gender but what's great is there is hope and progress if help is available. It saddens me in 2016 that resources for children and adults are scarce or non-existent and the myths around SPLD'S are still rife. Your positive attitude is exhilarating and much appreciated :)
I am grateful for your message Simrit. There is a problem here that we need to solve. How unfair it is to waste so many wonderful people just because of prejudices and discrimination. People with this amazing different that can move the world forward...are left in a corner trying to see how they will find their voice....I will use my voice and action to short things out. Thank you for your brilliance that you bring to this world.
It's my honor Ahmad to support you and human rights in education. Restoring and uncovering the truth on dyslexia is my duty as an educator as I have truly experienced my shelf the power and potential of this magnificently different brain.
wow you seem to be quite the extraordinary person, if only I had encountered educators like you in my schooling I might have learnt something; hell I might have even found passion in something..

Yiasou Aggeliki! I came across your video and was very excited to see a fellow Greek who is so passionate about teaching. I am a Reading Recovery trained Reading Specialist and have spent my life doing early intervention. Most of the children I see have improve significantly and many even overcome their reading difficulties through strategy instruction in the first two years of school. It is very unfortunate that in the school system where I work, passion is misunderstood. I will never give up trying to get the information to all teachers of reading and that is how I found your video. Bravo koulka mou!!
For all of us out there that we are dyslexic or not don't be afraid to make mistakes... I'm Greek as you Aggelikh and I just saw your video i'd loved it! But I have to admit every time I make mistake in English or every time that I hear people saying "I can't speak English very well,I'm sorry" I always asked them one simple question "do you make mistakes in your mother tongue?" And they say "yes" "so I tell them how do you expect not to make mistakes in a different language!!!" For all my dyslexic friends out there don't be afraid to show who you really are. And believe in yourselves I know how hard it is just don't give up! Cause you can do it!💙
What a human being. Tenacious and cunning to no end. Excellent role model of what is possible and why the "I have no faith in humanity" memes were never true.
Andrew, So grateful for taking the time to listen with an open heart, and write with an open mind. What my Greek ancestors taught me, which is even more important than democracy, is Faith in Humanity. And what my life teaches me every day, is that with the energy of love in mind, heart, action, and words....all is Possible and we can make a difference in this world! Love bless you Love bless us all.
Thank you for sharing ..........I always want to be a doctor but dyslexia cause me many issue + to bad not having good teacher at right time made it more toughest so I was at the bottom at my class in high school. always want to go to collage for higher education but fear of failure...worse thing when people tell me I'm very smart hit the hammer on the head. anyway I never give up I got hire in IT company and I was a best tech first two year in company and now within two years move to fiber engineer where I competing people who working 15-20-year within company. I am strong believer that dyslexia is treatable with right teacher who willing to help.
I am so proud of YOU! Steve Jobs and Bill Gates had/have dyslexia...so you see why you can be sooo amazing in your field! Keep on rocking! I am glad you found your path to thrive !
dear Aggeliki very amazing speech, thank you so much. I am mother of 8 years old amazing girl. I have found out that she has dyslexia last year. well few years ago I knew that there is something like dyslexia and that I have it too.... . when i was child nobody called it like that in my country . I was just qualified as not enough smart child and it took me many years to understand that i am amazing woman , strong and powerful and so gifted in a way that they there at school , they were not enough educated and qualified to recognize it . 2 years ago we moved to Wales . Till Sofia was 6 years old we were living in the forest ;-), I am the artist , so I used to let her be herself and experience the life on her way. ....so for first 2 years at school I let her to learn her way, which she had to also learn new language too. But now she is 8 years old . I know that she will learn to read and write, but i see how difficult it is for her. I would love to help her. But i notice i do not know how. I started to search for help . And on the way i found you . could you tell us where can I find more information about technique which you use ? thank you .
Anna thank you so very much for you message. Living in nature will set your daughter free, connected with her inner power and will let her learn everything in an authentic way. However, in order to build reading and writing she needs specific instruction from a special educator who will use many different tools to make it happen. Please email me using info@ilovedyslexia.gr so i can e mail you back some specif info.
I stumble upon this video at my lowest point after experiencing one failure after the other. Trying to figure out why i cannot remember anything at all. Why do i underperform especially in exams. Why am i the one who knows everything but can never show that to the world. How to survive this world where no1 can understand me. Where even parents want me to always top the class
Siddhant Kummar the only way to survive this world is by learning first to love and respect you for the miracle you are...this is the only way to find the strength to forgive and love even those that have caused you pain and set your shelf free....to thrive and LIVE LIFE to the fullest.
look up, neuroplasticity ! you want to get ahead in life? Teach yourself self discipline, good temperament and positive attitude. Im finishing my 4th year in psych. Those really are the qualities that are proven to lead to a good life. Work hard, you may not alway be able to help yourself but learn who to ask for help.
I, and I'm sure many people who have watched this video, know exactly how you feel. I'm sure that you're good at many more things than not, and that your successes far outweigh your failures. It just doesn't feel that way a lot of the time. In many ways the world is unfair towards those of us with dyslexia, or any neurological difference for that matter. I staggered through life for many years frustrated with my jobs and the fact that I was unable to master certain skills which seem to come naturally to most people. Years ago now, I reluctantly accepted a job working in a special education classroom and quickly knew that I had found my calling in life. Now, as a person who helps people with disabilities find jobs and teaches them about employment skills, I have hound a career that allows me to use my strengths and abilities and the things that I'm not so good at don't really matter. Keep trying new things, keep pushing forward, don't give up and you'll find your calling too.
Inspiring. I have gone back to school as an adult student and am trying hard at my studies as a dyslexic but believe that nothing is impossible... Tho I am still finding my way around.
Great speaker I know what this is all about had a teacher in the 70 s who knew all about it and she was my teacher for 4 years yes with her I learned how to read and write it was corrected yes dyslexia is not a disability it’s a different way of seeing and learning and it needs to be looked at in great way many geniuses are dyslexic the schools and the world needs to change big time
Thank you for your kindness Abby. You helped yourself....it was not me. It was your choice to feel that you were helped by me. I am only here to share my life journey, and my love for dyslexia and quality education for All. Be blessed.
yes mam who better to crack a dyslexics . then for some one with dyslexia herself or some one that can truly see what we have to go threw ....I love youe ted talk and only wish their there where a million more teachers out there like you ..... please keep up your life changing work and know that there will be more of us out there fighting with you wance we figure it out lol
I am so grateful that you made the effort to understand the metaphors behind my words....the spirit behind the appearance....Thank you Jim Kirk with all of my heart. Love is ALL.
Sometimes I don't believe I have dyslexia and I think they just made this up to help dumb people (my self) feel better :( .. because I don't have any gifts and I'm really not good at anything at all. Everything is just so hard and I feel so alone in a world not meant for me. I really just feel dumb all the time.
Dear Wendy, there is not a single person on earth, with or without dyslexia, that does not carry his personal charisma and beautiful unique characteristics that can contribute to this world. However it is not easy for all to discover their gifts, as the right conditions under which they can recognize them must be there... The best thing you can do, is to start loving Wendy...believe in her....because you are wonderful..whether you can recognize it now, or not....because we all are...if only ....we can embrace US..just the way we are....and then....the best...will come out and will discover the best in you..Love you! And then, love the world...
although a good journey, I would have appreciated it more if you would have really shared how did you help them, what tools did you develop? RUclips can be a stage where you share knowledge and tools
Thank you Latika for you message. The theme of this TEDx talk was Opportunities and its point was to present ' how me in my life turned problems into opportunities and created success, and not to get into details of my intervention. LOVE, determination and passion should be behind anything you do to really change the world, and that was the point I wanted to make here. Please follow my page ' i love dyslexia' in facebook to follow when and where my trainings take place. What we do is very specialized and complicated, and youtube is not the most appropriate way to present it in a complete way, and I what I really do in the way I share my expertise, is is to show you the way how YOU can build your own tools, not just showing you mine. In this way you can be even more empowered to become a creator of your own success! Also, follow my pinterest board education/Aggeliki Pappa to get inspired!
its sad that information is not made free so other people can learn rather than suffer... debt based economy is evil or that information would be available without people needing to survive and make a living.... I hope TED one-day makes a way of economists that understand and chance that.
She helped them with love, if you love your students you'll go above and beyond to make them succeed, dyslexic students need love not rejection and reducible, when they feel loved they can express themselves more and it makes it easier to learn, it does not matter what method the teacher uses.
I need to know how I can be a part of this from omaha ne. I am in the process of a complete career change. 20 years as a mechanic and now want to teach children with learning disabilities. Specifically dixlexia as I am and have fine tuned the operations of my mind.
I wish we changed or add the laws in America and all around the world so all the adults with dyslexia would get assistive technology help in every day life with reading and writing. We should the future for kids and adults alike.
You are something, to say the least. Where in the world are you working at this time? What a genuine lecture. I'm older and have just written an essay on dyslexia for my college class. If you send me your email address I will send it to you. Keep up the good works and if you are ever in my area I would love to meet you. FR ( have you ever heard of Susan Barton, or Linda Mood - Bell?)
Please go to Park City school district in Utah and talk with them. They currently have nothing to help those with dyslexia, dysgraphia and Dyscalculia. They have masked many smart teens into thinking they are not worth anything in life because they can’t learn as fast as the other students. Or in the same way. The whole system has failed many smart students because they are to stuck in there ways. Some teachers do stick up for these students, however they are far and in betweenz
I just stumbled apon your videos my babygirl have dyslexia it is now effecting her Self esteem. Please give me some tips to help her! I'm heartbroken. Her teacher said that there is something wrong with her brain. She is also very innocent and emotionally fragile so it is very very hard to see her going through this.
Dear Brook it is so unfortunate even nowadays children with dyslexia suffer in school primarily on an emotional level. Education saves us from ignorance and suffering. So, please read and share with the teachers good books like 'Proust and the Squid' by Maryanne Wolf, and watch my you-tube video : Aggeliki Pappa, the Reading Brain and dyslexia, to make a start. Educate and empower yourself to protect your daughter and believe in the power of each and every human being has. Love, A.
Hi Brook I was moved to respond to your post as I understand exactly what your daughter is going through. I have dyslexia and during my time in school experienced some rather disparaging remarks from educators however I went on to graduate school and to have a career. The best thing you can do is provide her with positive feedback and support her on school assignments so that she knows she can be successful in school. Remind her that the words of that teacher do not define how successful she will be, only she can do that. She will have to learn resilience and to stand up for herself, it will be hard but she will have character. Also you can tell that teacher that there is nothing wrong with her brain, dyslexics have entirely different brain structures to begin with, the differences help them process information in unique ways. They tend to be better at looking at the big picture and problem solving. I would suggest connecting with dyslexic associations if there are any near you. All the best.
I am dyslexic but I can read ok 95% of the time its when I start to wite or type, I miss letters out even though I can spell most worrds or like this I would write BBok for "BOOK" I also mix letter up, I meann't letters, I have to contantly check/correct my spelling every time I write..
It's great for her that she has this passion but the whole video is about herself, nothing about dyslexia or any specifics about the technique she applied.
Dear Tekinette the whole point of thisTedX event was About turning Failures into 'Opportunities' . It just happens that dyslexia was my opportunity to discover my own wonderful journey, while for many educators it is sth completely different. So there was no space for details on educational intervention,. Please watch my you tube video 'The reading Brain and Dyslexia' for useful info on dyslexia brain. Thank you for watching!
I wish she spoke about her process and technique instead of her history . That could haven been summed up in a few minutes. I watched this video to learn how to hack dyslexia mind which was not presented at all. I wasted my time watching this, getting frustrated because it's more about the person's history and instead of what they created I walked away without learning anything just more anxious about someone struggle through getting where they are. Ted talks are hit and miss now.
this is the best compliment you could give.....because a good teacher never teaches people anything....he/she can only make them wonder.....and think....
Aggeliki Pappa hi I I'm dyslexic and I I'm desperately looking for some help I'm in London could you give me any advice on where I could start my getting help?
A lot of Jamaican have dyslexia including my son. Maybe I had a small bit of it but I know now that his dad have it. Need help so I can help my son, now 7 years and in grade two.
My dear Nuruddin I think I have now realized what you are trying to say... I wish you all the best in life and hope you find the way to give your special brain gifts to the world!
why you should not treat dyslexia with ritalin >what is her work< her work is 100% B.S...................love will fix dyslexia? please real dyslexic stop listening to bS like this and speak out about it
UFOnerd. I disagree. I have dyslexia and if I was given love and understanding at school by my some of my teachers I would have more respect for my mind. Even my parents would have respected me more. All I wanted was love. Maybe you get a lot of love off of your teachers and parents, so you wouldn't understand what it is like not getting it.
Jasmin Flower your problem is psychological and can be remedied in counselling. Getting love and appreciation wont change reading, writing, and memory issues
I struggle each day with my severely dyslexic wife. She never thought she was, just thought she was stupid because that's what her parents said. Five years later we're still stuck but we're both ready to take the journey of real learning. Any direction for people in the USA, in a place like Las Vegas would be awesome.
Berke use OneNote tool by Microsoft education and Orton Gillingham reading program. Please read Maryanne Wolf book Proust and the squid and watch my speech the Reading Brain and Dyslexia. Educate yourself and set yourself free from all worries. Love the potential of Dyslexia!
What is exactly the point of this speech? She talks for the first 10 minutes about her and then all she has done. Ok good things but where is exactly to point of this. Where is the main idea????
Dear Jaquelinne, the title of the TEDx was 'Opportunities'. Hacking the brain of dyslexia with hard work, believing in the abilities of my students going against all odds with the power of LOVE, turned my challenges as an educator, into the greatest Opportunities to experience miracles ...thank you for watching!
By trying to understand it, accept it, working hard to get into its 'shoes', embracing it with LOVE instead of trying to 'fix' it or seeing it as a 'problem' and not as a different kind of brain which can give us solutions duo to its different way of processing things.
Very nice presentation, but, you seem to digress a lot, and it makes me think "get to the point already!". Also, it sounds like you are bragging too much; I would save that to the end.
Thank you Aggeliki! I teach/tutor students with dyslexia and have off and on for 20 years. I, too, left my last school. And what my life teaches me every day, is that with the energy of love in mind, heart, action, and words....all is Possible and we can make a difference in this world! Love bless you Love bless us all.

I too am studying to hopefully one day become a doctor , my dream is to be a doctor
dear Aggeliki very amazing speech, thank you so much.
Please email me using info@ilovedyslexia.gr so i can e mail you back some specif info.
thank you so much for your answer , I will email you soon
Thanks for your persistent. You do teaching with love ❤. You do it passion.
💜 Thank you!
Thank you. I'm researching for my dyslexic daughter
For my eight year neice.
I love this
YOU ARE GREAT!!!
you are a beautiful soul 💖💖💖
Inspiring. I have gone back to school as an adult student and am trying hard at my studies as a dyslexic but believe that nothing is impossible... Tho I am still finding my way around.
Sharon Teo I am proud of You!
Great speaker I know what this is all about had a teacher in the 70 s who knew all about it and she was my teacher for 4 years yes with her I learned how to read and write it was corrected yes dyslexia is not a disability it’s a different way of seeing and learning and it needs to be looked at in great way many geniuses are dyslexic the schools and the world needs to change big time
Thank you ma'am
Power to you girl!!!!
That is awesome were was stuff like this when I was a kid
Wow that Was amazing! Thank you for helping me.😘😘❤️🤗👍🏼
Thank you for your kindness Abby. You helped yourself....it was not me. It was your choice to feel that you were helped by me. I am only here to share my life journey, and my love for dyslexia and quality education for All. Be blessed.
Abby thank you for watching and your kindness. I am so happy this speech made you feel helped and happy. Hope you now love dyslexia more!

Smart, Good Heart, & Beautiful, MY GOD I AM WITNESSING A "GREEK GODDESS" !!!!
Well done Angeliki
So grateful Marius! #teachersmatter !!!
I am dyslexic and proud of it
Thank you
although a good journey, I would have appreciated it more if you would have really shared how did you help them, what tools did you develop?
+Aggeliki Pappa thanks :) I'll try to learn as much as I can and use that knowledge here in India
its sad that information is not made free so other people can learn rather than suffer... debt based economy is evil
or that information would be available without people needing to survive and make a living.... I hope TED one-day makes a way of economists that understand and chance that.
She helped them with love, if you love your students you'll go above and beyond to make them succeed, dyslexic students need love not rejection and reducible, when they feel loved they can express themselves more and it makes it easier to learn, it does not matter what method the teacher uses.
latika s I would also love to know
I need to know how I can be a part of this from omaha ne.
Please share this idea
I’m dyslexic and didn’t understand wheee this story went or any “hack” to help me fight it. Maybe I will have to watch it again
Love.....is the answer ......
The thing is not to 'understand' with Mind but to 'See' all answers with the Heart...LOVE is the answer....
Some teachers do stick up for these students, however they are far and in betweenz
i like her voice
Love, A.
Aggeliki Pappa yes thank you.
S D Thank you I appreciate the advice greatly thank you so much!
We will be in touch soon! THANK YOU!
Find our way out of prison in standardized social norms
Not only the video but also her classes on her "dyslexia school" ...
You tube Love exactly!!!!!
Thank you for sharing this. It saved me 19mins.
I am becoming free the more I learn about me
An amazing woman ++++++
I honestly have no idea what she just said
this is the best compliment you could give.....because a good teacher never teaches people anything....he/she can only make them wonder.....and think....
+Ageliki Pappa I'm sorry but what you said there is total B.S just to put yourself on a pedestal.
Aggeliki Pappa hi I I'm dyslexic and I I'm desperately looking for some help I'm in London could you give me any advice on where I could start my getting help?
@Dgg Vig FOCK OFF
BRITISH DYSLEXIA ASSOCIATION could be of help to you. Educate yourself on dyslexia and turn in into an opportunity!
Where is the school????
Thanks
It took me 15 minutes to write this comment
A lot of Jamaican have dyslexia including my son. Maybe I had a small bit of it but I know now that his dad have it. Need help so I can help my son, now 7 years and in grade two.
I stopped listening at about 5 minutes when the speaker had not yet satisfied the title of the video.
I love her!!!!
Richard! #LoveIsAll! Thank you for the #Love!
Help me Aggelika Pappa please?!?!?!
This woman literally got in front of the world and said nothing whatsoever about anything
Oooooh my head I'm dyslexic alright but in the low side of thing
Nuruddin try to focus on the high side... The other side of the coin....has saved a miracle for you...
I don't understand
How can I focus on the High side when I'm in the low side of the Spectrum
My dear Nuruddin I think I have now realized what you are trying to say... I wish you all the best in life and hope you find the way to give your special brain gifts to the world!
can you do it for dyscalculia
why you should not treat dyslexia with ritalin
>what is her work< her work is 100% B.S...................love will fix dyslexia?
please real dyslexic stop listening to bS like this and speak out about it
UFOnerd.
Getting love and appreciation wont change reading, writing, and memory issues
does someone know the name of the school for dyslexics
www.ilovedyslexia.gr
I struggle each day with my severely dyslexic wife. She never thought she was, just thought she was stupid because that's what her parents said. Five years later we're still stuck but we're both ready to take the journey of real learning. Any direction for people in the USA, in a place like Las Vegas would be awesome.
Berke use OneNote tool by Microsoft education and Orton Gillingham reading program. Please read Maryanne Wolf book Proust and the squid and watch my speech the Reading Brain and Dyslexia. Educate yourself and set yourself free from all worries. Love the potential of Dyslexia!
rap works
What is exactly the point of this speech? She talks for the first 10 minutes about her and then all she has done. Ok good things but where is exactly to point of this. Where is the main idea????
Dear Jaquelinne, the title of the TEDx was 'Opportunities'. Hacking the brain of dyslexia with hard work, believing in the abilities of my students going against all odds with the power of LOVE, turned my challenges as an educator, into the greatest Opportunities to experience miracles ...thank you for watching!
Aggeliki Pappa should change the title to "Narcissism: how i got click bait on youtube then talk about myself non stop."
so... how hack a brain with dyslexia?
By trying to understand it, accept it, working hard to get into its 'shoes', embracing it with LOVE instead of trying to 'fix' it or seeing it as a 'problem' and not as a different kind of brain which can give us solutions duo to its different way of processing things.
@@aggelikipappa4064, fine, but is not this technique for all the problems in the world? I was looking for something more specific...
Wait...How did you hack the lexy brain agian?
Καλέ γιατί τα λέει στα αγγλικά;
In the Netherlands cat is spelled kat😅
15 mins still hasn't said anything about dyslexia
I'm 7 mins in and she still hasn't said anything
Just talks about herself the whole time..
see the long comment I left at the top
Very nice presentation, but, you seem to digress a lot, and it makes me think "get to the point already!". Also, it sounds like you are bragging too much; I would save that to the end.
Dear Shark1103, it is not about what you hear,.....it is all about what You Choose to hear and Can hear....Thank you for watching.
10 mins in still no substance
That intro really messed with my eyes, I am already feeling nauseous and it didn’t help with that lol.
thank you
