It feels like the iPhone keeps exaggerating the colors where the Samsung isn't as bright but is more color accurate for details. If I want straight out of Phone maybe iPhone X, if I wanna color grade then Samsung...
as an online content creator that knows next to nothing about actual tech, l am actually LOVING these recent tech videos. super helpful & geared towards creatives/content creators like myself. LOVE EM, keep it up!
lexamazing YOU’RE SO FAST! I agree. Honestly, I don’t even know how to use a camera properly, just making everything up as I go. SO THESE ARE ACTUALLY REALLY HELPFUL
Even though I can't get either of these mobiles whilst here in Papua New Guinea exploring I still watched your video! I just can't help myself! Loving your work Sara!
With the Note 8 and video......in the camera app did you have Video Stabilization turned on? That setting is for EIS and can produce that wobbly type of look when both EIS and OIS are on. Turning it off might smooth it out a bit as OIS is always on. iPhone still kills it with the frame rate options though.
Both of them are great. I like the way you threw in that caveat about using a DSLR, or point n' shoot. I took that a ways back and opt'd for a free phone, then put my focus in camera gear a few iphone gens back. Highly recommend it as well!
The Samsung wobble is frustrating, and I'm a Samsung fan. I keep looking at that iPhone more and more since it's been released. Have you considered something like SanDisk's ixpand for moving data? It's like a memory card for iphones and works really well.
did you try your iPhone X with your Dash Car Mount? the videos are not useful in that case... HanHeld videos, are very smooth but not in the other case... It is normal in others iPhone X or just with my iphone X?
Have a Samsung S7 but rarely use it for picts as I have, at 65, slight hand tremors and only about 1 out of 3 picts are in focus. I use my RX100V or A6500 on shutter priority to keep the shutter speed up to at least 125. Any ideas out there that will help? Selfies are next to impossible.
I was about to buy a complete set of dslr with lenses but this saved me tons of money for small vlogs this will do better till companies comes up with more refined things. Thanks Sara for putting up this video :)
Great video as usual! The funny thing is a lot of who are watching this do it on an uncalibrated screens That can make the picture look more saturated or less saturated, or give it a blue tint because of bad white balance/temp, *It can change it quite a bit* So take it under consideration, how much your screen change a different picture than the original one ;) By original I mean the way it looks on a calibrated screen,6500k white temp, there are specific standards.
My iPhone videotransfer workflow look like this: 1. Connect the iPhone via Lightning 2. Open the "Photos" App and import your files 3a. Open Final Cut or iMovie and use the imported files. 3b. If you need the raw video file in a another Software just select the video click on "File > Export > Export Unmodified Original Video"
The "flatter" picture from the Note 8 allows for more flexibility in post-production because it retains more color and image information. The iPhone X's exaggerated contrast and vivid colors sacrifices this aspect.
I see how similar the iphone 8 and iphone x camera is since I own the iphone 8 myself but when the iphone is rendered at the highest quality, it's like crystal clear!
Intense comparison.. You should of uploaded to 4k? Stabilization is meh on both. I have a X and was hoping it would replace my plus, however screen size not the case. Since all the vloggers heads are cut off in full screen mode now, it's just zooming into the image..? Hopefully with iOS updates it'll fill in the wasted screen space on most apps. Keep up the great work, you have noticeably progressed in you're talents and finally finding your own voice on yt.
Hey sara, the nice thing about Android is that you don't have to transfer any files at all and still have them on your computer. When I take pictures or videos, my files are immediately synced with my Google Drive / Photo. If you have your laptop at home and it is on, it can simultaneously sync the files on your computer. So they can be on your computer before you even get home. Now to be fair, I have to say I have unlimited data plan with my cell and in average I use close to 80 Gigs data every month. But you can also configure the sync so it only syncs over Wifi. So as soon as you get home, you can put down your phone, get a drink or make yourself a sandwich and by the time you are done, files are synced to your laptop (if you turned it on already). Just my 2 cents on the subject :)
@saradietschy what are your thoughts on the @lg #V30 ... it is suppose to be a beast and crushes the iPhone & Note8 ... curious to hear your thoughts & #KeepCrushingIt
For Android when it's plugged into a PC, you need to pull down the notifications on your phone and click on the option PTP transfer. I'm not sure what happens with a Mac.
For the iPhone and large video file transfers: SanDisk iXpand Drive works like a card on Samsung. I have the 128GB model and it works great with my iPhone 7Plus. Bonus - fits on my key ring.
I know, at least on the Galaxy S8, you can go into the video and stabilize the video after you shot it. I did a video on mine inside a hotel shuttle bus on a bumpy road under construction and was wobbling everywhere. I applied the stabilize feature and it was really smooth.
You should take a close look at the LG V30, it is a very underrated phone that as tremendously good video recording capabilities with its fully manual video recording mode 😉
This was awesome.........I was looking hard & going back to see which I liked best. Indoors the iPhone x looks better. Outside the Note 8 looked very clear (realistic) Stabilization when walking iPhone 👍 & Note 8 still OK. Audio sounds great on both. But I'm an Android gal so I will go with the Note 8.
The iPhones audio in the live studio space is noticeable less 'reverby' with the iPhone ... and overall I think the iPhone image is just much better. For me, the killer functionality is airshare ... never had to fight with it even once. I really like the note too ... but I just don't want to get distracted from what I'm doing by fighting with a device.. The real decider for me is the way the Note is wobbling around with trying to stabilise - it just gets it wrong and makes me nauseous to be honest. So it's the iPhone on order for me!
I'd love to see you use the Filmic pro app and a gimbal (Osmo) and shoot LOG mode with EACH phone to get the flattest image and the highest dynamic range and then color grade them both similar. For prosumer people who using phones and not DSLR's to do their WORK in content creation, (which is a huge percentage) you might share a little more insight and get the most JUICE out of what each camera can actually do. I feel like iPhone has a standard native color profile that they are using, which is good for people who like to run and gun and not edit, just upload... but not flexible for people who edit and want the the most true to life data from the sensor.. and it seems like Samsung natively has a flatter image but still uses a slight color profile. Filmic would actually allow you to show which camera has the better chops when you film flat and color grade. The audio also seems to be much better in the Note. I don't have a Samsung and cant carry out this test but you have those devices! ... ;)
Great review!! But...for most it will come down to which club they belong to. I love that phones can record video in 4k, but people spend way too much on phones and only use the basic functions that most other phones can do. And plus, how many people can watch the 4k videos, except on their phones? Don't get me wrong, both are a great piece of tech, but for most people's needs comes at a high price.
I think I like the Apple X image and video better-as you said sara, the iPhone is warmer-but it’s a bummer the video FPS/etc is imbedded/buried in the settings, whereas the note 8 it’s easier to access-plus the removable storage-tho your your review of removable storage/portable memory stick for iPhones would help in that respect if one was to go the iPhone route-as you said, personal preference it seems at this stage of the game with phones!
Try using the app Send Anywhere from the app store and the play store..... Literally the easiest way to transfer huge files from one device to another. I've sent huge movies from my Samsung to my MacBook pro
It feels like the iPhone keeps exaggerating the colors where the Samsung isn't as bright but is more color accurate for details. If I want straight out of Phone maybe iPhone X, if I wanna color grade then Samsung...
Damn image stabilization on both fire
U mouth so ugly😹😹😹😹
as an online content creator that knows next to nothing about actual tech, l am actually LOVING these recent tech videos. super helpful & geared towards creatives/content creators like myself. LOVE EM, keep it up!
lexamazing do you just sit here and wait for her to post a video?😂
lexamazing YOU’RE SO FAST! I agree. Honestly, I don’t even know how to use a camera properly, just making everything up as I go. SO THESE ARE ACTUALLY REALLY HELPFUL
lexamazing yeah, gear and tech can be daunting but Sarah always makes it entertaining
lexamazing You're back!!
I totally agree!
It’s insane how supportive this community is.
Casey Neistat : She is fast.
the cut is too fast, not enough time to compare each footage or photos.
I think the iPhone and Samsung have amazing video capability! Once again, really enjoy seeing NYC and comparisons!
Been waiting for this! Notification squad!!
I haven't watched your stuff or Johns in a while, kind of cool to come back and see two awesome youtubers are a couple.
Sara, can you provide a link for the cell phone holder you’re using on the gorilla pods for both phones? It looks super sturdy and well built!
Even though I can't get either of these mobiles whilst here in Papua New Guinea exploring I still watched your video! I just can't help myself! Loving your work Sara!
Your tech reviews have been such an influence and inspiration for mine Sara, so thank you! And this is one of the best!
Sarah if you only can choose one between note 8 and iPhone x which one are you gonna use as your daily driver ?
With the Note 8 and video......in the camera app did you have Video Stabilization turned on? That setting is for EIS and can produce that wobbly type of look when both EIS and OIS are on. Turning it off might smooth it out a bit as OIS is always on. iPhone still kills it with the frame rate options though.
Sara~ did you use any mic for your video? Audio sounds pretty good! Thanks!
Oh and do you think the iPhone X is good enough for sit down chat videos which will be filmed indoor. Thanks!!!
Both of them are great. I like the way you threw in that caveat about using a DSLR, or point n' shoot. I took that a ways back and opt'd for a free phone, then put my focus in camera gear a few iphone gens back. Highly recommend it as well!

Have you considered something like SanDisk's ixpand for moving data? It's like a memory card for iphones and works really well.
I have been waiting for Casey to do this video. But I will enjoy this just as much!
you mean waiting for Casey to get paid by samsung to bash the X?
Why didn't you use the the Kingston Bolt to transfer the iPhone video's?
+Junkie81 bc I'm stupid and didn't think of that. Lol it's literally on my keychain
Did you pre order the RED Hydrogen One cause I expect a full review from you
U gave it away which phone is which when u put the iPhone X up at 1:19.
I'm getting a new phone soon but not sure what I should get when I upgrade. Recommendations?
Cade Taylor iPhone 8.
Cade Taylor note 8 or s8
haha gtting mixed signals
note 8
Note 8.
did you try your iPhone X with your Dash Car Mount? the videos are not useful in that case... HanHeld videos, are very smooth but not in the other case... It is normal in others iPhone X or just with my iphone X?
Sara What do you use as your daily driver in terms of phones?
Was the Video Stablization setting turned on? by default the setting is turned off. Could be a reason for the wobble
Was the audio from the built in Mics on phones?
Have a Samsung S7 but rarely use it for picts as I have, at 65, slight hand tremors and only about 1 out of 3 picts are in focus. I use my RX100V or A6500 on shutter priority to keep the shutter speed up to at least 125. Any ideas out there that will help? Selfies are next to impossible.
Hi Sara, I got an iPhone 8 Plus a few weeks ago and I’m really torn on whether to use 4K 30fps or 4K 24fps. Which one should I set my resolution to?
Andrew Salao 30 why not higher framerate smoother is better
GrometricBoy I know that, but why wouldn’t I consider choosing filming in the same frame rate as this video?
Andrew Salao I'm honestly not sure why it was filmed in 24 it doesn't make much sense to me why things are still filmed at that low of a frame rate
Try out Samsung Sidesync. Requires the app on the note and the MacBook pro but simple plug and go.
How are going to compare at 4k if u only upload at 1080p?
IPhone has share it and xender type apps??
Why use air drop which is slower.
Painless Transfer of Filmes with an SD Card? What about AirDrop? I use ist all the time
I was about to buy a complete set of dslr with lenses but this saved me tons of money for small vlogs this will do better till companies comes up with more refined things. Thanks Sara for putting up this video :)
Did u try airdrop?
Can you do a video how to transfer videos to Mac without airdrop
Great video as usual!
The funny thing is a lot of who are watching this do it on an uncalibrated screens
That can make the picture look more saturated or less saturated, or give it a blue tint because of bad white balance/temp, *It can change it quite a bit*

Hey Sara, have you tried using the Files apps on iOS, I know its there and its quite manageable.
I wonder if the new phones like the iPhone 8 and X will outdo the compacts like the Sony rx and Canon Powershots.
jeeeez that contrast at 3:49 on the iPhone X. I still like it much better great video :)
My iPhone videotransfer workflow look like this:
1. Connect the iPhone via Lightning
2. Open the "Photos" App and import your files
3a. Open Final Cut or iMovie and use the imported files.
3b. If you need the raw video file in a another Software just select the video click on "File > Export > Export Unmodified Original Video"
First comment! Yay been waiting for a new video! Always pick the iPhone!
Both are great phones. However, I am leaning more towards iPhone X. It takes amazing photos!
I always look forward to your tech vids. KEEP it up!
The "flatter" picture from the Note 8 allows for more flexibility in post-production because it retains more color and image information. The iPhone X's exaggerated contrast and vivid colors sacrifices this aspect.
You should try out the LG V30!
Definitely loving the iPhone muuuuch better 👌🏼
i am watching 720 but it looks like 480p here why is that?
I see how similar the iphone 8 and iphone x camera is since I own the iphone 8 myself but when the iphone is rendered at the highest quality, it's like crystal clear!
Android file transfer? What happened to just plugging it in to your computer and drag and drop?
Was thinking the same. That's what I do with my iPhone. Easiest process in my opinion.
Intense comparison.. You should of uploaded to 4k? Stabilization is meh on both. I have a X and was hoping it would replace my plus, however screen size not the case. Note 8 has a limited RGB range. If converted to full range, blacks will be fully black, whites will be fully white, and colors will pop more.
Some Guy no it dosent like what even are you taking about... if your talking about the screen your so wrong
Kerron Walker why would I talk about the screen when this video is about the video capabilities and its processing of both smartphone cameras?
Sara I have to say that I can't judge at many times.. because we have to say if u can divide screen into two like a collage .so it is easy to judge
please someone tell me what is the song between 1:31-1:41 PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Great comparison. Thank you Sara.
Even tho I really don’t care about Samsung and iPhone comparisons anymore I’ll still watch cause Sara’s video’s are lit af
Hey sara, the nice thing about Android is that you don't have to transfer any files at all and still have them on your computer. Sara you literally showed the other phone when you asked which one is this one lmao your great
I’m loving the portrait mode pics I’m getting from iPhone X!
@saradietschy what are your thoughts on the @lg #V30 ... it is suppose to be a beast and crushes the iPhone & Note8 ... curious to hear your thoughts & #KeepCrushingIt
I'd love to see how these both look with Moment Lens and some serious color grading!
Can you do a video on how to transfer all iPhone photos to an external hard drive? Please 🙏🏼✨
Sara, you should try the Sony XZ Premium, please
vanntzer interesting
Greetings from India...Why haven't u compared iPhone X vs note8 vs Google pixel 2 xl ?
For Android when it's plugged into a PC, you need to pull down the notifications on your phone and click on the option PTP transfer. I'm not sure what happens with a Mac.
Sarah try downloading open camera you will get a lot more features out of the Android camera than the stock camera app
NOTE 8 Stronger and better😍😍💙
What do you mean: "Android file transfer just didn't work?". I have note 8 and it works even with the usb2.0
For the iPhone and large video file transfers: SanDisk iXpand Drive works like a card on Samsung. I have the 128GB model and it works great with my iPhone 7Plus. Bonus - fits on my key ring.
You should use Filmic on iPhone, better quality, functionality and easier to pull big files.
You need 1 Million Subs
You gotta take the video stabilization off on the note 8 In the camera settings and let the hardware stabalize and not software to fix that image roll
about the video stabilization try the pixel 2. it feels like the phone has set in a gimbal.its so stable.
Is it just me or is the iPhone X better at stabilization?
Try out the LG V30!
Excellent comparison
Sara, definitely use AirDrop to transfer pictures and videos from your iPhone to your Macbook. That's the only way I transfer now.
when you making a travel video?
This is really amazing 👍🏻👏🏻
What's worng with guy in pink shirt?
Ty Air Droid, Love it.
I was on vacation to New York 3 weeks ago :) We were there on a Monday when it was 24c :D
I know, at least on the Galaxy S8, you can go into the video and stabilize the video after you shot it. I did a video on mine inside a hotel shuttle bus on a bumpy road under construction and was wobbling everywhere. I applied the stabilize feature and it was really smooth.
I feel that girl! I watch waaay too many phone reviews and I doooo nooot care!! WHY DO I DO THIS??
Hi Sara please test the Huawei Mate 10 Pro
"Which one is this?" *holds up iPhone in the other hand* ;) luvin it
I'm really liking the Note 8, but I'm totally invested into the Apple ecosystem and similarly to you I REALLY like and use often the airdrop.
“Duh Sara duh” good catch. Great video.
You should take a close look at the LG V30, it is a very underrated phone that as tremendously good video recording capabilities with its fully manual video recording mode 😉

Install Samsung Side Sync on the Note and your PC, you can send files over wifi, super easy.

Love the videos but please upload in anything higher than 1080p. Missing that crispy 4k or even 1440p.
Careful with those shelves. I cut my singer so bad when I was building some and had to go to the surgery.
ROTFLOL :)
Man... you can tell from the audio. I like the saturation on the iPhone, but the stereo mics on the Note 8... audio sounds so much better
Nice video Sara, nice office Sara, nice sweater J...like button smashed.
Samsung have nfc can quiqly
Transfer the picture or sd card
I think you have to review the slow motion mode in your video
Good luck for the future
Try using the app Send Anywhere from the app store and the play store..... Literally the easiest way to transfer huge files from one device to another. I've sent huge movies from my Samsung to my MacBook pro
For video and pictures u need to check out the LG v30 it's totally mind blowing.
