Speaking of story, I appreciate your praise, as the story is what I seeked to adapt into a film screenplay, elements of Atlantis 2001, Allura the Siren and all.
OMG! Love this ride! After I finaly convinced my friend Ashley to get on it, cause she was scared to death, she ended up loving it, and we rode it 3 times in a row. That darn mermaid is freaking scary, lol!
I remember going on this ride when I was younger (maybe 12?) I didn't want to go and tried to jump back onto the dock when I got into the ride with my dad and cousins. I was terrified and cried the entire ride with my eyes closed only opening them right before the sea monster popped out and we went upside on the rollercoster. I don't remember any of it lol but now that I'm older I want to try and go again-still scared though lol thanks for uploading. Now I know what I missed :P
We went on this a few weeks ago and loved it! The drop scared me so much! And yeah...when they started playing the beetle juice theme music, I was perplexed too! I was like...what?? Ha ha ha. Fun ride though!
I remember breaking in cold sweat because it was a very creepy ride for me XD (It was the first time I rode it so of course I didn't know what to expect :p)
This is by far the scariest waterfall ride ever. It blows Splash Mountain right out of the water. The drop just seems much higher and more vertical. Add the roller coaster part and the dark/scary special effects, and you got yourself quite a ride!
Lol me too. I go to theme parks way too much as I also like the smell of ET, Jaws, and Twister at Universal, and POTC, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, It's a Small World, and Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom! :)
I was waiting for so long to wee this ride in youtube, thanks! yes I do think too this is by far the best Atlantis, better than San Diego or San Antonio one.
Nice i could hear the characters talking perfectly amazing. And if you didn’t know the story when you go in a old man hold a seahorse statue and says “wait let Hermès guid you and says go Hermès…show them the way” and Hermès comes to life and then you go under the sea and this mermaid name allura sitting on her throne and gets up says”welcome freinds do not be afraid come closer I give you all the magic of Atlantis” and you go pass the mermaid statue she laughs at you believing your going right into her trap that easliy and Hermès pops up in a water fountain he spits water at you and then you go in a room with a water fountain and a projection of alluras angry face comes up and she says “now you’ve done it! Puny little pony your freinds are no welcome here.” As her eye glow green and snakes sprout from her head. and then Hermès hides in one of the pots scared and if you listen closey allura says “huh oh no” and then the Medusa aka siren figure pops at you which is allura and go straight up you see her glowing green green eyes o ton of the exit sign they turn off when door opens. Then go to the drop with the beetle juice music and as You turn if you listen to the two speakers on rocks you can hear allura saying”leaving so soon i think not hahaha” and you go up inside a treasure room you can hear that Hermès deafeting allura as she saying “no noo, Nooooooo!” Then you escape and that’s basically the end of the story. And now they change it into a tour which is boring as hell and turned off the story.
Perfect. Speaking of story, I appreciate your praise, as the story is what I seeked to adapt into a film screenplay, elements of Atlantis 2001, Allura the Siren and all.
I remember when I was a kid. I loved it and my little brother cried after the big drop. Then when my mom kept telling him it was all over the creepy mermaid chick said its not over yet! HAHAHA :)
btw a good tip for kraken...if you want to ride again, just wait by the exit after you get off. then wait for the next people to get into their seats. there are always free seats in between people. just look for one in any row and get back on. it's not against the rules or anything since no one would have taken the seat anyways. you'd have to go by yourself but using that "method" you can pretty much go on as many times as you want without waiting in line again.
omg..... i remember going on this 11 years ago when i was 5 O_O just watching this video brings back bad memories hahahaha. I was crying my eyes out... I've been scared of these sorts of rides ever since :P
I went on this last summer, and i completely agree, the huge drop was great but that tiny little drop, i got soaked, i didn't think that bit would do anything hehe! Awesome ride!
I liked this ride! It was perfect for me because I'm not a huge thrill seeker (I'll do some roller coasters, but not the ones with all the crazy loops and corkscrews- Manta was obviously out of the question!) but I'm not a total whimp either (like my mom, who wouldn't even go on the Shamu Express haha). The scenery inside was really cool. The drop was a little scary but it was over after like 3 seconds. I liked the part at the end with the drop in the dark! This ride was fun. :)
this one is definitely better than the one here in california!! it actually gives like a little ride thru story thing instead of going up an elevator and then dropping
wow it's REALLY crowded right now. when you come to SeaWorld, RUN to Atlantis and Kraken if you want to ride w/out waiting an hour. if you want to see any shows, go to the stadium and find a seat at least a half hour before it starts. you'll have to get to Aquatica at opening (9:00 am) as it's been closing to capacity lately. so if you get there at like 12:00 the park will probably already be full and they won't let you in.
Well personally my favorite drop is the one at the end - but I agree I love the little hill in the middle. Since I know what's coming I always sit near the back and laugh at the people in the front when we go over the hill. Yes I know about Manta. It actually hasn't opened yet - it should be opening around May. But the entire track is already finished and it looks amazing. It will be a flying coaster - basically instead of sitting you are laying on your stomach.
i agree....the first time i went on this was when i 7 years old and i didnt remember that part and when i was 10 i then first did the little drop....i love htis ride!!
man I was only 8 and I was put on that ride...after that this is the best water ride I've ever been on and I wish I can go back there again next summer
What they do, is they wait till the off season when it's not so busy which is usually from late Jan to March. Then they shut the ride down for a compete refurbishment. WDW, Busch Gardens Africa (Tampa, FL), and Universal Studios Florida do the same thing.
I went to orlando this year for a holiday sea world is awsome!!! Especially on this ride me and my bro went on it 5 times in a row then u get SOAKED!!!
umm it's sort of like splash mountain except not as long, not as good, and a little bit rougher. I think the drop is a little bit (not too much) higher and there is a roller coaster part at the end. But if you can do splash you should be fine on this. The manta coaster is set to open over memorial day weekend (end of May), last I heard. They are making good progress and they are already doing test runs :)
Great video, you can see how the ride really is. But the video was funny too. Like at the beginning the woman saying this isn't scary. Or the mom telling her daughter to hold on to the bars, and the girl is like "im not scared". The Beetlejuice theme was so random. Talk about a malfunction.
lol who knows! it kind of changes every hour or so! but if you go like tomorrow or something it will probably be around an hour wait for most of the day. but if you come to the ride early in the morning or late in the evening it will probably be more around 20 mins or less.
yes i'm sure it's from Orlando. i live in Orlando with an annual pass to SeaWorld, so i'm pretty familiar with the ride. you must not have been on it in a long time.
yes very true. Although it is a bit fun (in an evil way) to laugh at people in the front when you already know what's coming! You might not want to sit in the back either because the water from the front all pours to the back. I usually sit in row 2 or 3.
no not the only one! i noticed it the first time, and to this day i have absolutely no idea why they chose that track! although it seems to fit somehow...
well it used to make sense when they had tv monitors explaining the story while you were waiting in line....just one more thing seaworld has neglected with this ride.
One of the best surprises on the ride isn't the BIG drop, it's the little drop right before you go up for the second time. The mermaid says,"Leaving so soon? I think NOT!". And then you go down just a few feet and the first seat occupants have a tidal wave land on their laps! P.S. Don't wear blue jeans on this one!
oh and sorry i was thinking about the san antonio version...san diego IS similar to this one..but it's not the same. it only has the same track, but it doesn't have the same building or effects. it's basically the skeleton of the orlando version.
I remember I went on this last spring with some of my friends and the funniest thing happened! To keep our phones from getting wet we had to put them literally in our pants and on the big lift before the main drop, my friend screams out, "IT'S VIBRATING!!"
aww, thats too bad they didnt update it or anything... i can't believe we didn't go on journey to atlantis! i chickened out. next time i go though, i definitely will!
This was a fun and thrilling ride. But the wait was like 2 hours! I am not kidding! Just stand there in line for 2 hours on a hot day! Some guy got really mad, so he left the line and he rode the Kraken and got off before we got on this ride. And when I saw Mudusa I was like "Why am I not a rock?" ;]]
Lol my fam and i went on this right, and my aunt and mom hate coasters and thought they would be safe on this log flume LMAO they thought wrong bahaha!!!! the screaming was hilarious when we suddenly started to speed up in the dark and could see the sudden turn at the end lmao!!!
i don't know it's probably about the same. it's not really that dark at the beginning. it's just that most cameras don't pick up the same amount of light as actual human eyes.
no, its definitely only 10 years old. it opened in 1998. i know because i live in orlando, and remember going on this ride when it first opened and seeing ads for it on tv. also, i just looked it up on wikipedia to make sure i wasn't delusional! it says it opened in '98.
when i was little i miscalculated the drop and havent riden roller coasters since. (not hat i rode them nuch before) But i have to say it was a good ride!
maybe they try harder during summer, when they need to impress tourists. but usually a lot of the effects don't work. the giant mermaid statue and the chandelier are two examples that i haven't seen working in about 3 years. and i go to seaworld every few months. in fact i was just there last sunday and of course the effects weren't working.
Oh, it's fun but not as fun as the one in Orlando XD Orlando's got the best rides there are. Our JTA is usually down, due to maintenance issues or whatnot. BUT, I guarantee you it's MUCH better than the one in San Antonio, lolz.
Upon reading what the old effects were, yes, I actually experienced those two years ago. I still thought it was a little unimpressive, but the mermaid was kinda scary. (The big one above the vortex lift.) I still think Kraken is better.
The first time I went on this ride it scared the shit out of me When the mermaid's face changed to be all evil and shit, i put my head down, closed my ears and then thought of things that made me happy. I remember saying Charmander a lot
we were driving past seaworld today and i saw this ride kraken and manta which i think is meant to open in may but i dont no when we are going to seaworld the reason why we drove past it because we went to a waterpark today called aquatica
Actually looks like SeaWorld is getting around to fixing some of the ride. It's getting a much needed refurbishment. Hopefully it will work like it used to when they're done!
I think Seaworld did a pretty good job for this ride, given what Seaworld has to work with, storyline wise, against what Disney and Universal Studios has to work with.
well the posted wait time will be 45-60 mins in the afternoon, and 5-20 mins in the morning and evening. however, i've always found steel coasters to have about half the wait of what was posted. i've timed it on my watch. so if the wait time for kraken says 40 mins it's really only 20. if it says 60 mins it's really 30.
Rare to find a video with all the effects working. Today this ride has almost no audio or affects but when it all works it's an amazing ride
Speaking of story, I appreciate your praise, as the story is what I seeked to adapt into a film screenplay, elements of Atlantis 2001, Allura the Siren and all.
I remember riding it back when it was like this and I had no clue about the final coaster drop, and it literally scared the fricking crap out of me!!!
OMG! Love this ride! After I finaly convinced my friend Ashley to get on it, cause she was scared to death, she ended up loving it, and we rode it 3 times in a row. That darn mermaid is freaking scary, lol!
I love the little kid in the background that keeps saying "I wasn't scared, I wasn't scared!"
Hunted this down to see it with the full, original effects. I missed most of it when I rode it at 9. I was too busy crying and covering my eyes
Finally a POV of the best version of this ride...
I love the kids' reaction to the ride. Priceless. lol
I remember going on this ride when I was younger (maybe 12?) I didn't want to go and tried to jump back onto the dock when I got into the ride with my dad and cousins. that right is awsome especially when all the suspense is when your going up and the suprising twist with the last down fall
Wow, this is why I dream of going to Disney World and Universal Orlando when i'm older! :( xxx
omg..... i remember going on this 11 years ago when i was 5 O_O just watching this video brings back bad memories hahahaha. I was crying my eyes out... I've been scared of these sorts of rides ever since :P
this is my fave ride ever!!! love the drop it makes the ride awesome xD

I went on this ride when it FIRST came out. It's changed a lot since then!

1st modern "water coaster." Mack Manufacturing did an amazing job. BTW only JTA Orlando POV I know of.
ive never been to sea world my brother went a few days ago, he went on manta kraken and this one, i cant wait i might go inna few weeks.!!!
I went on this ride back in December :) IT WAS FUN!
I went to orlando this year for a holiday sea world is awsome!!! Especially on this ride me and my bro went on it 5 times in a row then u get SOAKED!!!
I went on this ride 3 times! Its awesome!
i like atlantis... :) i remember 10 years ago

I want to go on this ride!!!! Those kids look like they had a great time.....idk what was up with Beetlejuice at the beginning of the ride lol.
it scared me at first but i love it !!!
Just the best Fuckin water ride out there ;PP !!! Went on it four times in a row . Just real rehreshing . The drop is the best part !!!
Kinda reminds me of Escape from Pompeii. Now that was a great ride!
yes i'm sure it's from Orlando. i live in Orlando with an annual pass to SeaWorld, so i'm pretty familiar with the ride. you must not have been on it in a long time.

Haha, just rode it today. my freind tricked me into riding it, and its such a long drop!
well it used to make sense when they had tv monitors explaining the story while you were waiting in line....just one more thing seaworld has neglected with this ride.
yeah it does for real. I've been on it about a hundred times

i got stuck on this for an hour IN THE DARK PART! it was SOOOO scary! xD
i love tidal wave that ride is so awesome :)

@Smokeyanna1
Sort of. Its a water ride like Splash Mountain at Disney World and then at the end it has a roller coaster drop.
the effects are way better now i went on it about two months ago it was sooo much fun
aww, thats too bad they didnt update it or anything... i can't believe we didn't go on journey to atlantis! i chickened out. next time i go though, i definitely will!
omg love this ride!

that banked corner at the end rocks

roxy841991, do you know if the ad for the ride is on the internet ?
JTA is part roller coaster. It doesn't need to float in the water, it can use a track.
when i was little i miscalculated the drop and havent riden roller coasters since.
(not hat i rode them nuch before)
But i have to say it was a good ride!
maybe they try harder during summer, when they need to impress tourists. but usually a lot of the effects don't work. the giant mermaid statue and the chandelier are two examples that i haven't seen working in about 3 years. and i go to seaworld every few months. in fact i was just there last sunday and of course the effects weren't working.
i barely remember this ride when i went to SeaWorld in 2002 most of it faded away and its in the back of my Brain
really very good ride!!!
they made some refurbishment so I suppose they fix all the old effects.. who knows? gotta go there one more time :-)
Oh, it's fun but not as fun as the one in Orlando XD Orlando's got the best rides there are. Our JTA is usually down, due to maintenance issues or whatnot. BUT, I guarantee you it's MUCH better than the one in San Antonio, lolz.

my dad went on this with me-the ride photo is just hilarious, he thought being a water ride it would be tame, the big drop practically killed him lol
haha, the beetlejuice thing made me laugh!
Actually looks like SeaWorld is getting around to fixing some of the ride. It's getting a much needed refurbishment. Hopefully it will work like it used to when they're done!
dis da best 1 ever
love this ride :)
I think Seaworld did a pretty good job for this ride, given what Seaworld has to work with, storyline wise, against what Disney and Universal Studios has to work with.

I totally agree, I know it is a tiny drop but for some reason it seemed huge!
