    Can you quilt using rulers on the bernette 38

  • @brigittamatis9827

    Hello. Thank you for your lesson. I'd like to ask, which machine is more quiet? Bernina 335 or Bernette B38? Also, could you do a comparation video? There is a massive price difference and would like to understand, why?

    • @BERNINAofNaperville
      @BERNINAofNaperville  11 месяцев назад +1

      The best way to compare is to visit your local bernina dealer. The bernina 335 is far quieter and better quality. The bernettes are feature rich for the price point.

    Is the b38 that quiet? Cuz that's the biggest issue I'm having with my brother on anything over 2 layers of fabric.

    • @BERNINAofNaperville
      @BERNINAofNaperville  3 года назад +3

      This machine will be a bit louder sewing through multiple layers. If you are looking for a quiet machine when sewing heavy duty items, I recommend the BERNINA 335 and up.

    This machine does not have built in dual feed?

  • @jonnyjonlute

    Thanks so much. I have a b37. Is it possible to lower the feed dog in order to do machine embroidery using a round drum to hold the material tight? There is a book by Doreen Curran about this.

    Hi! Which of these 2 machines can be used for free motion quilting?

    • @BERNINAofNaperville

      Both. You just need the free motion foot. www.berninaofnaperville.com/collections/bernette-sewing-embroidery-quilting-and-overlocker-accessories/products/b37-38-darning-embroidery-foot

    Hi , I bought the bernette38b a while back, but am having sometimes difficulty with the thread under the top then threading it up, yet when I start sewing the thread tightens up. Is it possible to somehow loosen this lever up there? In desperation I packed the machine up and intended to put it up for sale. Help. Please.

    • @BERNINAofNaperville
      @BERNINAofNaperville  2 года назад

      We have no idea what you are talking about. If the thread feels tight threading through the take up lever, you may not be lifting the presser foot to thread which is necessary for accurate threading. No matter what machine you purchase you will still have to thread a machine this way. Be sure to watch the whole video and thread along. For more support, contact your local bernette retailer for classes and technical advice.

    • @BERNINAofNaperville

      Do you mean oil! Oil every 16 hours of the needle going up and down. And in the video I show you how to take out the hook by removing the needle plate. Do that and when the hook is out there is a little hole where a drop of oil goes.

  • @sdcgren6301
    @sdcgren6301 2 года назад

    Hi again just read all the question, what is a duel feed? Probably spelt it wrong.

    • @BERNINAofNaperville
      @BERNINAofNaperville  2 года назад +1

      Dual feed is a system that is built into certain models of a machine. This feature is like having a built in walking foot and is available on the bernette 77 and 79 models and BERNINA 570 through 880 machines.

    How the hell are you getting the bobbin thread to catch?! Been watching the same clip over and over again and the bobbin continues to not catch

    • @BERNINAofNaperville
      @BERNINAofNaperville  2 года назад

      Make sure that the thread is threaded from above through the thread take up lever. Be sure that the needle is inserted in the highest position. These machines can go off time easily so if retreading properly doesn’t do the trick, please visit your local BERNINA/bernette dealer for service.

    Don´t these machines need to be oiled?

    • @BERNINAofNaperville
      @BERNINAofNaperville  3 года назад +5

      Yes in the bobbin area right under where I took out the hook. There’s an area that looks like a candle wick. Just put a drop of oil there.

    • @BERNINAofNaperville
      @BERNINAofNaperville  2 года назад

      Thank you for your comment. I’m not sure I fully understand your statement. There’s no need to “catch the bobbin thread” as the machine is designed to sew without pulling up the bobbin thread.

    • @susannehez4909
      @susannehez4909 Год назад

      @@BERNINAofNaperville .. well, maybe the b38 is designed that way, but on page 20 of the b37 instruction manual, it shows "drawing up the bobbin thread." Would have been nice to see in person before trying it myself. There are differences between the 2 machines.
