- Christina Applegate's 'Married... With Children' TV mom Katey Sagal stood by her side as she accepted her Hollywood Walk of Fame honor on Monday, Nov. 14. The 'Dead to Me' actress, who lives with MS, teared up as she spoke to the crowd gathered to celebrate her.

She survived breast cancer and had a double mastectomy about 15 yrs ago, and in 2021 she was diagnosed with MS. She has overcome so much to get to this point and receive this honor.

Katey is still Christina’s mom all these years later, and I love seeing Peg supporting Kelly like this in every way. Christina will never see this, but I’ve looked up to her for as long as I can remember and I’m so proud of all she is. Love everything about this.

I remember the first movie I saw Christina in was ‘Don’t tell mom the babysitter’s dead’. She’s an icon, she’s a legend .
She is the moment. She IS the main character.
I saw it as her trying to break out of the Kelly Bundy typecast Hollywood wanted her in, without going into a “crazy post-child actor phase”. She was always better than the cheesy role she had on Married With Children (loved her there, but slapstick sitcoms do have limited range). Christina and David Faustino both matured before our eyes and grew as actors and people on such an iconic show. I love seeing them to this day.

I have MS so I get the struggle. So so proud of her and Selma Blair for showing the world their courage and vulnerability with this disease. It sucks and it can break you down physically and emotionally but you can still live your life at your best ❤️

I have MS as well since January 21, 2017. I was surprised when she was diagnosed, as well as Selma Blair.
I just adore her. Always have. I was sad to hear that she was diagnosed with MS…she’s been thru so much already. The MS club isn’t a club we choose to join but when we’re diagnosed we just do the best we can do with what we’ve been given. From one MS Warrior to another hang in there girl…you got this ❤

Dead to me is easily one of the best shows !!!!!! Brilliant acting and what a brilliant series that is so funny and so thrilling and yet so emotional all at once ! I love the show.

Hang in there! Are you getting chemo for the MS at northwestern? I didn't qualify but ended up with leukemia. The chemo from that wiped out my MS. My MRIs have been stable and my spinal tap showed no more MS. May the same happen for you!

It's so sweet seeing Katey Sagal next to Christina. I literally grow up with married with children and I hope she deserves that recognizing in Hollywood.
Christina is a big part of my childhood. She has a rich personality and huge sense of humor, which I love. Despite of all that what she's going through now with this terrible disease, for me she's still the same beautiful, intelligent actress who I loved and I still love watch her at the movies and at the series.

Christina Applegate has been chronically underrated for so long. It took her staring role in “Dead to Me” for people to realize her true brilliance, I think. She is way more than a pretty face who can read comedic lines pretty well (even if those two things are also true). I really appreciate her as an actor and she seems like an amazing person as well.
Agreed! I've known of her for so long, but idk I just never checked her out much until Dead to Me and then of course Anchorman. Now I wanna watch anything she's in. She's such a cool fucking woman and I honestly find her inspiring for young women. I pray that her MS will stay at bay. She still has such an amazing spirit and sense of humor. Truly a sweetheart.

i don't much care for the show, but I think maybe this was 'partly' due to her MS in getting this award, which should have been done years ago at the same time as Ed O'neil and katey segal. She's a consummate professional and a real 'actors actor' who is game for almost any genre or setup. And all of them have worked with david in anything he's tried to keep his acting career going, even getting him onto their shows. And all from a show that was one of the most critically maligned in Hollywood.

Christina is a woman, a mother, a friend, an actress who happens to have MS, a disabling disease that’s affecting her ability to work. Millions like her face a similar struggle daily. She has worked hard to adapt so she can continue to work and will keep doing so until she can’t. Jobs need to adapt so people like her can continue to work productive jobs, and technology is changing to help that happen. She’s always been a badass, because it’s who she is. See the person, not the disease, it’s just something her body happens to have.

Watching Katey Segal hovering over her, protecting her and genuinely loving her friend and TV daughter is almost as beautiful as the strength Christina Applegate has shown is dealing with her physical condition. This is the best thing I've seen all day.

I too have MS. Life is not about waiting for the Storm to pass, it is about learning to dance in the rain. As everyone knows we never dance alone and with your group, you'll dance well into old age. You are a testament to the strength and conviction of what it takes to beat this.

She was phenomenal in her last season of Dead to Me. Such an underrated actress. Finally getting recognition she deserves. But she really should get an Oscar for Dead to me.
I agree! I was so deeply impacted by her performance and had no idea she was sick until today and it breaks my heart into a million pieces, especially considering the topic matter of the show! She is such a light and lovely human being! I wish I knew her in real life! ❤️
I haven't seen her in everything, but her Dead to Me performance is the best I've seen from her. Really strong. Her comedy talent is of course very good, but I didn't know she could do drama so well. It seems she should have done more drama and would be more recognized as being a "serious" actress (it's not like comedy acting isn't also a serious craft that takes a lot of ability!).

@Galen Crayn not necessarily there are better treatments and depending on the type of MS there is stem cell transplants. Look at Selma Blair she got another chance at life. So can Christina and many others facing this horrible degenerative disease. My niece was diagnosed last year, in her early 20s and she is doing well with it. Thank God, living life like it's her last day.
