This video isn't quite correct. The proper procedure is to do the following: 1) Drive vehicle until engine is at full operating temperature. Usually 15 minutes or 7 miles is sufficient in normal weather. 2) Bring car to a stop on a completely level surface and let it idle for one minute. 3) Begin check of oil level with engine idling. 4) Do not add oil unless directed. The MIDDLE of the gauge is your target. The top of the gauge is the maximum level before you are overfilling. -Retired BMW Dealer Tech
When i do this on mine it shows the bar and the clock for like 6-7sec and then it just goes back to the start screen thing do I just wait and go to check again or what?
Once pressed the start botton release the fingers, u don't need to keep press it, also that way to check is for more bmw. I can say more.. but Better if I can keep quite.

You can just turn on the engine, let it run for 5-10 minutes, just idling or give it a short drive, and then do the oil check as shown here. If you overfilled you'll get a warning message.
In my car when I go outside its showing 4 levels and when I come home showing 2 levels. Thin white smoke out of exhaust with little smell ??? What issue it have . See thin white smoke only at traffic lights
Hi glad I found this channel, just a quick query, so I own a e90 320d ( 2010) and when I got the car I used to get a fuel reserve warning at 100km range and a continuous low fuel warning with a caution symbol in the instrument cluster at 50 km range but somehow after few trips I'm not receiving those warnings anymore... Even after having only 96km range of fuel... Any idea why? And how to get it back ?? Pls help !!

I do the service myself and this time I cannot reset the oil service.I do the procedure on the panel and it resets but right away it keeps on banging the "service" (red) again.Tryied many times now,the oil is good,all seems to be fine.. Hey guys, I've got 330i and the other day after I came back home, it warned me of oil level which showed low. Next day I started it cold, checked oil level and it showed full! WTF? I have no way of manually checking if it's ok or not. And I don't wanna ad more if it's really full!
@@e90eddie61 probably.. I've replaced all the seals on top of the engine which there are many as it was leaking oil from some of them. The amount of sludge was shocking on both cams, ledges, valvetronic motor etc... I had lifter clunking problem too. So spent considerable time trying to clean the top end without pulling everything apart, put it back together, replaced oil housing filter cap, as the original one had a nasty habit of loosing the basket that holds the filter and it would be left stuck in the oil filter housing. Used twice the recommended oil flush from Liqui Moly, replaced the olf oil with the Castrol 5-40 and no lifter clunking anymore!!! That drove me mad with this car! I'm not sure whether it's gone permanently, but I'm so glad it's gone! I'm not sure what fixed it: heavier oil, new oil filter cap, or removing some of the sludge from the top end.

You cant on some models. i have an 05 318 m sport and it has no dipstick at all. just the electronic check. its a sod because i dont trust the sensor as it gives a different reading EVERY time its a peice of shit design to be quite honest. FUCK BMW
Can someone help I bought a E90 and it says the oil is very low and below the minimum ive added almost 2 L of oil and it’s still below minimum do I need to add even more??? Or something wrong with the sensor ??

actually its not low.. its on optumum level.. beyond that its excessive amount and its not good..

There is some issue - thats why there is the triangle. The 508 is km/miles you done since reseting it to 0.

If it's a faulty sensor and give you ok you'll burn the engine :(

You need to send the car to workshop for faulty sensor I guess.
I have 2006 325i. Doesnt read my oil, it says inactive. I changed the oil level sensor and nothing change.

You're not supposed to do an oil level check on a cold engine. After driving 10 minutes you can make a proper oil level check
