Very odd things they have said, I don’t understand their language but I knew it was a matter of time until you went going to get some mud from EM/TESC folks.
Honestly, things this year have been a clown show. The Head of EM, in his final gesture before leaving, decided to fire me. I’m not unemployed because I bounce back every time- but I feel like having you as a contact, mixed with the controversy mixed with some personal things may have been the cause.
I’m still processing the conversations and analyzing how well the management played their base- at least the head of EM- to remove me. To think that all my experience on the council and being a student of two jobs ISOLATED from each other would have made me an asset. The activist and the media side, all in one but nope. I’m a well-rounded media producer and still they removed me.
So here, it’s funny to see that you have them as your friend on FB and still passive-aggressively comment with the knowledge that you would see it. Yet, none of the staff ever added me on FB and some EM students even unfriended me.
I’m intentionally posting this publicly. I never argued with anyone of the staff, never contradicted them and never said anything bad about them. Simply put, they didn’t like me. Yet I’m good friends with all their boss, the dean of media services. Hmm.
    What’s your take on that?

I think it speaks more to the climate of the place than the individuals involved, especially as this fits in a broader pattern of behavior at Evergreen.

I do not see any reason for you to apologize for 'attacking' people and not just their ideas. Yes I 100% agree to attack the ideas, especially bad ones, but if someone is being an @$$ hole then call them an @$$ hole.
And their ad hominum attacks on you are just that, ad hominums. Thats not an argument but fallacies in Logic. Whatever their opinion of you is has NOTHING to do with the merits of YOUR well documented argument.
Keep up the good work and you got my SUB!

Kate here. The "narcissism" accusation is used a lot now as a conversational and debate stopper. I myself am encountering this when engaging in debate with people. A non-narcissist, ironically, would be unlikely to make such an accusation, even if they suspected that to be the case--in the middle of a debate--because that's not fighting fair. We appreciate your work so very much. It would seem your experiences in pre-school have specially prepared you for your work with adult tantrum throwers! God Bless you.

Going after someone personally VS going after their ideas depends on how they present their ideas. If they act like adults & present their ideas in an appropriate manner, then yes, you keep criticisms to their ideas.
If they act like children, throw a tantrum & try to force their ideas, then yes, it's fair to criticize them. You can criticize an idea. You can also criticize the manner in which that idea is presented.
Many of the students at Evergreen have gone to far. Their ideas deserve criticism but they found if they have a tantrum & start calling people names, people will be afraid to criticize their ideas.
They present a bad idea, if anyone questions it, they call them racist, sexist etc etc. Basically, they are using that as a threat. Challenge our bad idea & we will take you down by accusing you of sexism, racism etc & we will get you fired.
In my opinion, people using tactics like that do deserve criticism. Their ideas are bad so the ideas need criticism. They way they present & push their ideas is also bad & that deserves criticism as well.
If you criticized them, personally, after they presented their ideas appropriately then yes, I would say you were wrong to do that. You went after them personally because they weren't presenting ideas appropriately & I agree with that.
At a formal debate, two people stand at a podium & exchange ideas. You keep criticisms to the content of their ideas.
If one person at that debate pushed the podium down, threw the mic & started screaming, then expanding the criticisms to their personal behavior is fair game in my book.
I don't think you did anything wrong when you criticized people. Their behavior & tactics deserves criticism.

Narcissists are not the type for introspection, self criticism, or reflection. You are NOT a narcissist. To some extent, everyone has narcissistic qualities but that doesn't make them actual narcissists. You attempted to impact change internally prior to going public and it didn't work. It's ok to identify individual people who continue to indoctrinate students into extreme ideologies and accept or encourage threatening behavior. You and anyone else that is aware of what's happening at Evergreen have an *responsibility* to continue to expose these issues until they are properly addressed. As a decent human being and faculty member, you are obligated to act in the best interest of Evergreen students. I can see they've been getting to you lately... don't forget that this is what they do to silence people who oppose them. Remain strong in your convictions. Thier behavior speaks for itself. You're just the messenger.

Frat boys, as a metaphor, references the forming into groups over shared superficial interests. Juxtaposed with campus connection event highlights the comparison to be made. Vogue is posing with style with grace and Narcissism is to be self absorbed. Lodge meeting describes the discussion of indian chiefs, a metaphor for a exclusive group of leaders. Which contrasts to the purpose of connections, therefore a reason for not knowing why such a group would be present.
Plain speak. An exclusive group of self absorbed people serving no purpose at a social event.
An appropriate response would be that one's presence was in support of the event and if that's how people are treated, it might explain a lack of support.

Benjamin--well articulated thoughts as always. I do, however, have one critique:
10:14 You say here that there may be flaws in the ways you've presented your findings, specifically in the form of going after individuals rather than ideas. I agree that the ideas should be the primary recipient of criticism, but when individuals make a habit of anchoring themselves to bad ideas and a pattern is easily recognizable, I think calling that pattern out is fair play (maybe even necessary).
Less than a minute after making this admission, you open yourself to critique and ridicule because that's what having and sharing ideas is all about. Don't hold the students and faculty of Evergreen to a lower standard than that to which you hold yourself. They've already had too much free cake by my count.
Please don't stop until you feel you've done the job you need to do, even if it doesn't turn out perfectly. Haters gonna hate!

To be fair, it's difficult to talk about the ideas creating the cult-like atmosphere within Evergreen without the main figures responsible for promulgating them being focused on. Most of these figures seem to be teachers/faculty members and I've never seen you engage in attacking anything other than their ideology. Since ideologues tend to see criticism of their ideology as an attack on them as a person, it might not be possible for you to prevent them from feeling that way.
I'm sure you know that though and it's still good of you to try.
If you're a narcissist then I don't know what that makes the average person, because from what I've seen you possess an above average willingness to question and criticize yourself. You seem quite humble and open to the possibility that you could be wrong. It's a refreshing personality-type in the current political climate which is filled with sanctimonious attitudes. Anyways, thank you, keep doing what you're doing! You're great at it.

You are certainly not a narcissist but it appears they may be. It's all about them and they care not who they hurt or harass, even young children in their presence means nothing. It's all about them and the cake apparently. If they were really cool they would only eat the cake if it were vegan. I'm glad you keep exposing this because they are hurting others and don't care.

You should point out the people, not just the ideas. Most of this is just and excuse to be racist and have fun abusing the staff. Notice how they DANCE when they protest and look HAPPY ! That isn't people upset about some unjustice. But I'm sure some people were there thinking that. Espicially Naimi Lowe and anyone like her should be pointed out for making people sexist and racist and causing violence in and outside the school when they find out how racist it was and how nobody was ever punished.
All of these people teaching racist and sexism need to be EXPOSED so people will wake up and remove them from all schools. Before we get a sex and race war like they want !

Individuals who push ideologies in a college need to be exposed, not just their ideologies. You did the correct thing.

Do you think you can separate this people from their ideas? People in your institution make decisions that are harmful not only to university, but for students too. This is what adults call “responsibility”. They make decision - they have to answer for it. When I have had “bad coworker” I have tell this to my boss. This is hard - but you already began this, so don’t be apologetic - they will fire you if they can. Stay strong :)

I would say that the college has "reaped what is sown". I would also say that back then most people on campus didn't take themselves too seriously but the critical theory/SJW element was present.

This whole thing is about trying to kick people off of campus and 1 guy said I disagree. We are oppressed because we tried to kick someone out of a public place and he said no. They will come up with anything to whine and cry.

I often wonder how ashamed these young people will feel when they've grown older and wiser and realize how misguided their good intentions were, how susceptible they were to radicalism and manipulation, how poor their judgment, and how lacking in compassion and consideration their behaviour was. I wonder that about NFL players too, as the tide of their administration turns in the face of disappearing profits. What warms my heart are 2 realities - 1) that the US, while not immune, does seem to be less susceptible to the infection of George Soros and his ilk's attempts at social engineering - and 2) the reality that there is always a swinging pendulum at work, one can only push radical leftism so far, before the radicals find themselves at the mercy of an ever-growing backlash. I have tremendous faith in humanity, that our collective ridiculousness can only ever go so far before we self-correct.

From a Psychoanalytic perspective the origin of this behavior is not from what they are being taught. The origin of the behavior can be illustrated by Freud's "Civilization and its Discontents" and from theories of narcissistic injury.
What the various theories do however is teach these students to externalize the narcissistic injuries in specific ways.
All forms of propaganda do this. For example if you look at WW1 & WW2 propaganda the purpose of it is to have a mass projection onto an enemy and to project the individual body onto the concept of the nation. So an invasion is felt to be a personal attack.
The other thing that these theories do is eradicate self reflection and interiority.
Once again, the question would be how to return to this cultural attitude?
I would argue that one of the main culprits is a culture that actually caters to adolescent thinking and reinforces it.
To reverse the trend in my opinion requires adults who have done some sort of interior psychological work to be more influential than the adolescent mindset.
It is in psychology, in perennial philosophy, in certain religious scholars like Paul Tillich etc. but all of these things have far less influence than ever.
It would be an equal mistake to believe it is in all advocates of these theories either but I believe these theories hit closer to the mark and in the very least says "real wisdom will not arrive until after 35" (more or less).

Everyone has some sense of narcissism. You have to in order to survive in the world. The problem is when it becomes so over the top that it becomes Narcissistic personality disorder. You exposing Evergreen and these adults with impulse control problems and with perhaps real narcissistic personality disorders is not the problem as obviously you already know.
