    I actually was overnight security dispatcher for college campus for the Police Academy in Polk County Florida. I was first person they see in morning opening the academy campus every morning. When the college itself didn't renew the company contract, all guards were put else where when Polk state college has Allied Universal Security contract. Technically not an "outside world person", get into Academy if I'm actual right fit for the academy. So there I was overthinking join the LEO and pass academy, still managing financial cover the tuition costs mentally.I did not expect work as security for long term until made through 3yr anniversary then 5yr anniversary, by 2021 will be official police academy. Rather get over 2020 with covid-19 and police defunding riots protesting.

    Isn't it crazy how becoming a police officer in Florida takes 770 hours of training but a barber in
    Florida has to have 1,200 hours of training to become certified?

    • @mikegomez9374
      @mikegomez9374 2 года назад +3

      i think you should goto the police academy and then become a barber and come back and tell us which one was more demanding.

    • @InTheKno
      @InTheKno 2 года назад

      @@mikegomez9374 Lol. Thanks for proving my point bud. That is exactly why officers are not prepared to conduct their duties when leaving the academy. 770 hours is not enough time when lesser occupations require significantly more training for benign and meaningless tasks. You're asking people to deal with life and death situations and understand laws on 770 hours. It's absurd. An Army MP spends 10 weeks in BCT and 20 additional weeks in AIT to learn a diluted form of police work. The police academy is an inadequate training program that doesn't prepare officers or the public for success.

    • @scottward8383
      @scottward8383 Год назад +5

      @@InTheKno the training doesn’t end upon graduation from the academy that’s just to get you started. You then have an additional 1040 hours of field training. And a full year of probation.

      Yeah man…the academy isn’t going too much different than basic or OSUT. Which aside from exercise, basic firearms handling, and general knowledge…Army basic doesn’t really teach you much and if anything is all about discipline.
      Which is what they’re saying it’s about here. Yes you will get your basic skills as a police officer as well as general knowledge of the laws and Constitution but ultimately its the department you work for that’s going to have its own policies and equipment you have to learn about/on.
      I know in Arkansas NLR officers are also supposed to go 2 years before being able to operate their own vehicle…
