    Hi folks, I have in Normandy for 20 years and am a battlefield guide, author and historian. I realise this game video is a few years old, but it'e the best I could find. Sorry my audio goes out of sync half-way through. I have no idea why it did this. Hopefully it won't spoil my commentary.

    As for weapons that shouldn't be there (Tiger, 88, etc). This is a relatively old game (2003), back then the gaming industry was growing but it didn't have the resources of today. The most likely reason for every tank to be a Tiger and every gun to be an 88 was that they didn't have the time and money to make every model, so they just went for the more iconic weapons.

    I will say this game helped pique my interest in world war 2 back when I was 12, years ago. This with saving private Ryan and band of brothers were my biggest references until I took a class in college and read books. More importantly I had a tour with you about 9 years back. I remember asking you about the beaches of Normandy, having used SPRyan as my guide, and realizing how off I really was. It was helpful learning from an expert. I think this is good for you to comment on. I hope more people see this. If you haven't done Brecourt Manor or Foy for this game that would be cool.

    Your reaction to the 88 had me rolling!

    Your exasperation about the 88, the magic bag of weapons and the Tigers was quite funny (and justified). Perhaps in the spirit of improving the historical accuracy they could add a granny character or Mrs Thatcher, leaping over the over excessive obstacles and taking the bridge by handbagging the Germans. :-)

    Another great WW2TV reaction video! I hope that video game creators watch these reaction videos and in future work with historians to improve their games.

    There were no Tiger tanks anywhere near the landing area on June 6th

    really enjoying these videos, may I suggest looking at brothers in arms, an excellent game that used actual After Action Reports and Reconnaisance Photos to create its levels and missions

    It has the 8,8 cm Flak gun because it's cheaper and easier to reuse assets used in other parts of the game,

    • @WW2TV
      @WW2TV  2 года назад

      Okay, but I would have thought, given how many copies are sold and how much money they make that modelling another gun type wouldn't break the bank. But what do I know lol

      @@WW2TV This was the very first Call of Duty, so it was very far from being the multibillion dollar franchise it is today.

    Paul if you wanna really cringe on a DDAY review check out the DDAY mission in call of duty vanguard where your a British para and somehow get to use a BAR in an assault and then look at the DDAY mission from Medal of Honor Airborne according to them the 505th jumped in daylight and fought through the bunkers and into the trenches onto the beach’s hahaha

    I found this video just minutes after I recorded a video of me watching this gameplay too! I did one because my step great-grandad was there at Pegasus, I have his cap badge, and I re-enact the 2nd Oxf. and Bucks. One thing you missed right at the beginning, is that on the picture of the bridge, it is named as "Pegasus bridge", even though I don't think anyone called it that before it was captured. Another interesting thing, is that before this part happens in the game, there's a briefing presentation which uses an image of the bridge after it was captured, specifically the one in the Wikipedia article, just with the gliders and soldiers edited out.

      The game is Call of Duty, released in 2003, the first ever in the franchise, I doubt it is on the PS4, but it is on PC and will probably run on any laptop or PC

    I love your passion about this stuff but it’s obvious you’re not a gamer. I can imagine you standing up mid game and throwing the console against the wall amid a flurry of expletives not because the game is too hard but because of the series of historical inaccuracies.

    • @WW2TV
      @WW2TV  2 года назад +1

      And I keep saying I am not a gamer lol But yes you are probably right. I can be like that with movies too
