old ones eh? hmm Flyff was pretty neat i remember really enjoying playing the buffing class and flying around of course xD Ragnarok online was another, i enjoyed mabinogi...god i spent alot of time in that so many skills, oh and city of heroes/villians
In middle and highschool i would go on Mmohut and just find and play different mmorpgs. At one point I played every free MMO that was playable on my computer up to level 20. Which was when i decided if i should keep playing. Well except for 4story.... THAT GAME WAS A GRIND! got to 15 and was like i cant anymore.
Me af 😭😂 It’s like I try to get a taste from ‘em all but don’t even bother with the progression, just legit getting past a few levels and drops it like a hot potato. Just so I can say in the future “yeah i’ve played that” but nowhere religiously tbh 😂😂😂 (there’re few that got me hella addicted tho) I’ve prolly turned MMOhut (&& more sites alike) upside down finding for new victims after I’m done with some 😂😂 #noLifeM8
Mmhmm I joined a community page and ended up becoming a beta tester for way too many MMOs...my list is long af. My go to games were WoW, Runes of Magic, PWI, and Cabal.
AQW was a big deal for me lol, it was around the time when my family just moved to the States and I did not have any gaming system. I used my sister's laptop whenever I can to play a non-downloadable game because she thought every game can give her laptop a virus. Even though it was just a browser game, I can still remeber the great memories I have made and the friends that I still think about till this day.

You really clickbaited me on this video. This is not about old mmos you can still play. This is about the mmo's that you've played. Fkin ridiculous.
I mean, the two subjects kind of do overlap. But I do thank you for the feedback, and I’ll try and name my next videos a bit better. Also I do discuss each video in the thumbnail. Thanks for watching :)
TinyBlueGames well the community for starters is great the leveling procsses is really good endgame is amazing and the combat is awasome I recommend that you check some videos about this game i know you will like it :)
if you love pve then you'll like it. Dungeons and raids are fantastic and has easily one of the strongest community's right now. Its also the 2nd most popular mmo behind WoW
I can attest to the quality of FFXIV however it is very heavy in terms of story content. If you don't get invested in the story from the start then you're going to hate your time trying to level through it. And it will take a long time. I've done it. My friend brought me into the world of Eorzea and continued to push and push to try and get me to his level so that we could play together, but it was impossible to do quickly. Eventually I got bored of trying to play catch up and started a new character and played the story from the beginning. And I loved it. My experience completely changed and it was definitely for the better. Final Fantasy is known for it's story-driven games and FFXIV is no different. The classes/jobs are also really fun to play around with. Getting to play all of them on one character really improves the overall game experience. You can swap your role and playstyle instantly depending on how you feel that day. Because of this, each class and job still feels strong enough to do solo content which some games can lack if you play Healer or Tank classes, it's also the first game that I found that offered the kind of Martial Arts Monk that I wanted to play as opposed to the Mystic kind of Monk in WoW. It's also free to play up to level 35(?) I think, but that's level 35 in all of the classes. So there's a lot of gameplay to get out of it before you commit to the $12.99 per month subscription.
I've played Maplestory for 12 years, I just level up new classes to 200 for fun whenever I get the chance. I started with Runescape > Maplestory & WoW (played both constantly for years) > FFXIV > Guild Wars 2 > Black Desert Online
Maplestory is a game that I consistently come back to. It just has so many good memories wrapped up in it :) it sounds like you followed a similar path to myself. Thanks for watching!
Well, where are you from. I mean, some regions has their own servers and there for you can not play on the other servers. You should probably go do some reserch about that and then check if you are trying to play on the right server.
Dragon nest will always have a place in my heart. I discovered it thanks to the help of a small time streamer known as Sam Koopa. From then, we streamed it with IDKgames every sunday until sam tragically passed away in mid February of this year. And for helping me find a great friend that I'll never forget, DN will always have a top spot for me.
you brought together our community in a way for us to congeal and talk about something we all have in common taking us away from the trolling and putting down of each other... well done :)
I started with wizard101, that old kids game. Lol it was good but never bought a membership. Now, my main MMOs are Brawlhalla, Kritika and does tribes ascend count?
Thanks for the kind words! And really great list you got there, but you certainly show what’s been happening to the MMO market over the years. Certainly a shift towards non MMOs :p who knows what 2018 will being though!
Matt Cygnus Have went back and played tales of pirates recently, trying to find a grand chase private server because that nostalgia is hitting me hard rn
Really enjoyed the video, gave me a strong feeling of nostalgia as I spent a lot of my early years playing F2P MMO's and always jumping around. I noticed there are a few comments pointing it out, but the title is slightly misleading. Not necessarily a bad thing (since the video is good), but maybe changing it to "My MMO History" or something along those lines would be more plausible.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for the great feedback! I will put more thought into the title of my new videos. I don’t like this title for several reasons. 1. is that it is a bit vague (as several people have mentioned this). 2. is that it says 2017 but we are in 2018 now. Either way, I’m glad you enjoyed the content and look forward to improving in future videos! Thanks for watching :)
Great video mate, enjoyed it! I am playing GW2 and it is so good. I cannot remember the last time I stuck to an MMO for so long. Love the pvp and pve, glad the comminity is still going strong.
Ya GW2 has really been rocking it this past year! It offers so much, and costs so little. It’s a great community to be a part of :) thanks for watching!
Can't handle the nostalgia man. I almost cried during the video. I used to have a friend with whom I played 99% of my games. We don't talk now. I still remember we were studying in Brisbane (Australia) when Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, Champions Online, Aion all got released, we were hooked from the beginning, WAR was our first MMORPG then we switched to WoW (in between we played AoC, Aion, CO for sometime) and again totally fell for its immersive world and interesting lore; tried Rift too. One of the worst decision we have ever made, as gamers, was when we started playing LoL in 2011-12 it was something new and refreshing and we love(d) PVP games (WAR was and still is my favorite MMORPG) so we also loved LoL for a while but I knew deep down it was an end of an era for MMORPGs, us as gamers and sadly as friends as well. Our friendship was started in uni campus, flourished in WAR, Matured in WoW and died with LoL.
tibia was ruined by hotkey's and pots i remember typing all the spells and the bots were no problem just kill them ;) acctually 90% of people that were still playing were botting after patch 10 or 11 they fixed the botters. they went from 50k-80k online to maybe 5k in that week it was so funny to see
Ya I actually first released it with a different thumbnail/title, but it didn’t get much traction. I did some slight tweaks, and it has really helped the video out. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Oh I’ve heard a bunch about PoE! I’ve actually been thinking about playing it on the channel, but I’m a complete noob at it so far haha. But learning a new guy is always the most fun part! Thanks for the suggestion :)
I love and hate path of exile, i hate how once you complete the storyline you have to redo it on a higher mode. They should have added a lot more things to do, not just repeats.
That has changed in 3.0, pre 3.0 you had only 4 acts which after completing you had complete them in 2 harder difficulties. But in the current version there are 10 acts which you only have to complete once and they have expanded alot on endgame too.
Man wish I saw this video sooner, but I played Runescape for about 14 years, I'd always take breaks from it every so often though. Each break i tried a new game, first it was fiesta, then cabal, forsaken world, and eventually perfect world, but i always ended up going back to Runescape. Eventually my friend introduced me to Guild Wars 2, I tried going back and forth between that and Runescape, and eventually just quit Runescape and stuck with GW2. Still going strong here 4 years on. Enjoyed the video man, I didn't think anyone else ever played Cabal or Fiesta :P
So, what is your MMORPG history? Stay tuned for a deeper dive into games on this list and more suggested by you guys! Here is a closer look at Maplestory in 2019: ruclips.net/video/oLYu9kaOOiY/видео.html Thank you for so much support guys!
WoW mate, that is a very good review. I have also played WOW (first game after Guild Wars 1) and its still best game for me, even in 2017 and it will be in 2018, I think its just IT. :D Also played games like you did, Guild Wars 2, and Neverwinter. And wanted to try games like Rift, Vindictus, Wildstar, Black Desert but they never looked so good like WOW. Played many other games, hell I am like game tester lol, played Lineage II - still love it, Runes of Magic, Riders of Icarus, Arche Age - still very good, Tera a bit, and tested many others alike that I played few days and forgot, because they were trash tbh. My opinion is that there is no better game than World of Warcraft, its just complete and fun to play - all know it, but problem is that you have to pay for the game and than pay monthly subs, that keeps many people away from it. Anyway if there is any game that will be near good as WOW it may be Ashes of Creation - tho I honestly doubt it, maybe it will be, but just for few months. Honorable mention is The Elder Scrolls Online which is awesome as well but never got me going like Skyrim. Keep up with good work
Played WoW in TBC and later discovered Runescape. I played that up until EoC and stuck to WoW like glue until WoD. I got into Aion and grinded to 65 for my first year before jumping back into RS. I honestly had no clue what I wanted from an MMO, so I just started trying a bunch of them out. I stuck to FF for a while, but realized it's not going to be a permanent game for me due to the combat and nature of the game.... which is too much fluff for someone who's used to the trash community and graphics that WoW's given to me all these years. Since then I've tried countless mmos, looking for my next fix. I've tried BDO, Rift, RoM, DAOC, AA, Tera, GW2, ESO, Aika, Dekaron, Tibia and nothing really can satisfy me in ways that WoW and RS have throughout my years growing up. I always used to blame myself for not finding fun in modern mmos like ESO / GW2, but they're just so bland and boring to me. I honestly don't know what I'm doing at this point. I don't have a game I'm committed to. PvP in WoW sorta died and OSRS feels like private servers on crack. I'm alone with this opinion these days. It's almost like the times left me behind. Sorta just wandering looking for what I lost. Idk if I'll find it. Videos like yours attract empty people like me. Thank you.
Hey, thanks for leaving such a great comment. I love reading about people’s experiences with MMOs! I still to this day think that if I wanted a game that I could get the monster invested in, it would be WOW. It is by far the polished and offers so much content! If I had more time to play (I’m a rather casual gamer these days) I think I would still lose my self in it! Thanks for sharing :)
cabal..started playing when i was 12..now im 23 oh lord how time flies man but still its the coolest game ive ever played and holds a special place in my heart
this is my mmo history granado espada/sword of the new world ->fiesta online -> prius online/arcane saga (shut down) -> luna online -> aura kingdom -> rift online->echo of souls -> neverwinter->blade and soul ->guild wars 2 -> elder scrolls online -> tera online -> revelation online -> allods online to me, prius online was the game that I invested the most in, but when it got shut down, I was pretty much devastated. I still remember going into prius just to walk through the areas and recalling memories, saying goodbye to friends I made in that game, just really appreciating all the fun it gave me. when it finally shut down, all other mmos that came after just couldn't provide that same sastisfaction. I just got bored after end game, and don't feel connected to it whatsoever. Prius was not just a game, it was my escape from reality. Please bring it back.
A lot of people have been commenting that I should give Runescape a try. Which version do you recommend for someone that has never played it before? Thanks for watching :)
lol, you don't know the history if you feel that way. In 2011-2012 Jagex started making fundamental changes to the game, eventually leading to the "Evolution of Combat" (which was the defining feature of the soon-to-be RS3). Along with this, there were rampant microtransaction deals, allowing people to 'pay to win' essentially. This lead to a massive player-base decline until five years ago, in February of 2013 (my freshman year in college) they decided to re-release the game we all knew and loved- Old School RuneScape, resurrected from the 2007 code, as this was the most complete reference point for Jagex. Since the release of OSRS (Old School RuneScape) its daily active player base often surpasses that of 'the main game' (RS3) and OSRS receives weekly updates and standard MMO progression in the full sense of it being a live-game. Old School may start as nostalgia for some- but it is as full and active as any other MMO, and in terms of player-base is more active than RS3. There's now multiple game modes that exist (Ironman, Hardcore, Ultimate, and Deadman) in OSRS where RS3 only has Ironman and Hardcore; but may be releasing DarkScape again (a PvP mode similar to Deadman). OSRS has deadman mode tournament where the grand prize is $20,000 every season (4 times a year- I placed 20th in one of them; meaning that when I died in a lastman standing style competition, there were only 19 left, of 2,000). The fact that OSRS has (1) a more active player base, (2) a higher number of active players, (3) a higher streaming content and viewership, (4) more consistent updates, (5) more diverse and active game-modes, and (6) its own lore development .... then I would say that OSRS is not just for nostalgia, and has in fact become its own game mode separate from RS3. RS3 has (1) graphics, (2) their combat system, and (3) deep lore. OSRS has a PvP community, based on the old combat system, and is starting to develop its own lore on the basis that OSRS is occurring in the 5th age of the game's timeline, and that RS3 is in the 6th age. TL;DR I disagree that RS3 is better than OSRS, and I have many ways to evaluate this subjective standard to make it more objective. All RS3 has is a key-board based combat system and 'better' graphics. OSRS is the RuneScape that people think of when you say RuneScape, and I think they should rename RS3 to WorldScape and give OSRS the title of RuneScape back as a marketing strategy. PS I'm trying to max an ironman account on OSRS, a process that takes years (and I'm pretty close).
How do you remember every single one you played? Cuz whenever you mention an older game, I was like ' Oh yeah, I played this before' and it never wouldve occured ot me otherwise.
I played wizard101 the most, still off and on to this day, some LOTRO which as a kid was incredible, tried wow but never liked it until classic, and I played neverwinter and SWTOR a lot, played many others for about 5 minutes each and was like nah
This video makes me tear up a bit. The good old days. Did you ever play project powder? Same people that published fiesta. That was a good time. RIP PPSBO I can't remember the first MMO I played but I played maplestory when I was 8 or so and I played Fiesta since release. No longer play the actual server only do private servers.
I always have to chuckle though when people say how "hardcore" classic WoW was. I wanna see these guys try to get to there corpses having to sneak by everything you already killed in the dungeon
Haha I really enjoyed it too, not that I was very good. I remember really enjoying how the more powerful you made a weapon, the cooler it would look! I also love there big party quests (not sure of their exact name) that happened every couple hours ! Thanks for watching :)
Dragon nest was and still is one of my favorite FREE action based MMOs I ever played. I began playing on the SEA servers back in Closed Beta, until the EU servers opened up and I alpha tested them, offering translations and fixing bugs. Everyone starting from level 1, starting new Guilds was an amazing experience. The game was active. There were Raid competitions with rewards from the Game Devs. I still sometimes come back to this game every so often, like now and I am glad other people have heard and played this hidden gem of a game. Yes, it had a very anime like graphics style and the content was instanced, but the combat was so unique, fluid and visceral that it beat every other complaint about it. That is until Shanda were actually running the game on a back up server for many years and when the server crashed and all data was lost, all my level 80 characters full of gear, gold and items that had real life cash attached to it was gone, never truly compensated all of it. Lost about 400 euros. That is when I quit and many others too, the game died then.
Even if you might be some troll triyng to get a reaction, and even if this is months late, I don't care. You're an idiot. Fiesta released in the US in around 2007 if I recall correctly, and was originally a different game in Korea called SHINE online. Flyff is a bit older by release date in the US, and Fiesta doesn't have the same features as Flyff. In fact, I'm calling you out and suspecting you haven't fully played either game. Flyff didn't have kingdom quests, and Fiesta didn't, and isn't designed to have flying and flight-based combat. Nor did it have the same upgrade and enchant systems, along with the random af awakening system that Flyff has. Even the controls were different. Flyff's were more floaty in combat while Fiesta's felt more weighty(even if you ended up having less fluid animations.) Even the classes were different in each game with specific gimmicks. Flyff had a branched class system while Fiesta's class branch isn't until the later levels.
Haha nah I’ve never played it. I watched my brother play it a couple times many years ago. If I was to give it a try nowadays, which version of the game would you recommend I try?
I would recommend playing the main version of the game RS3. People who have played before will say old school just because of personal caveats over the years with jagex, but all in all RS3 is a much better game, with abilities and endless content with raiding etc, whereas old school is more of a nostalgic feel for old players. Both have around the same active playerbase of 30k at any given time, and both have the same lore so either one you'll find the 'same game' except the combat mechanics in rs3 i find much better coming from real MMO's in the past with the similar combat style rather than just click and wait.
Teutonic Prim yes, but runescape was based off of old school which is what I'm used to. Most of the player base finds rs3 ruined rs, but like ya said it's all for personal preference!
is fiesta rly still online cuzz i tried redownloading it and when i click play it just doesnt work im a try again cause i need this game back in my life.
I actually never really tried RuneScape, maybe I should explore it! Do you have any suggestions/tips if I was going to dive into the game? Which version of the game should I try? Thanks for your input!
I had played MapleStory since 2004 and had been AFK for a long time. It was really a beautiful memory that untill now, as I heard the BGM, I just can't hold my tears...
Regnum Online (I think they changed the name now), LOTRO, and then I tried a bunch of others throughout the years but none have ever stuck around for more than week for me.
im surprised you got to fiesta but never played flyff, scions of fate, pristontale 2, asda story or 2 moons.I played all the games you played except wow (untill catacylsm , i started then).I say give dragon saga a try if its still up its style and combat alone made be qant to get far in it.
I actually did try Flyff at some point, but I only ever played it for a couple of weeks. I'm not sure why I didn't stay with it longer, I feel like it was around the time I got swept up by WOW! I have never tried dragon saga, I will have to give it a look. Thanks for sharing friend :)
I remember loving the idea of leveling skills by using them instead of having skillpoints. Just seemed really fun to me and it also encouraged supports to buff random people. I wonder why no game nowadays uses this system.
With FlyFF it got removed because people would just max out their skills as early as possible, and it wasn't always the most balanced thing ever. I remember the days of low level assists sitting at the Saint Morning bangs getting all their buffs maxed pretty much instantly. While it's a cool system on paper, in this instance it was very shallow in the sense of progression. (Then the game went full pay to win and everyone stopped playing when they realized it would cost thousands of dollar to maintain.)
Sure I get that part, but they could implement a system where your level locks in the maximum progression you can get skill on. Anyway while I understand the system is not ideal I did think it was cool and enjoyable.
Hahahaha I love mmos but I've never had the feeling of get stuck with one specifically, maybe cause where I am from no one cares to much about this kind of games so I never found people who likes it too:( so sad
trying to remember a game, cellshaded/anime ish style multiple modes of play all of it was pvp started with buying permenet weapons but updated to weapons that degraded over time but were much cheaper. one playlist was one guy was death and vary hard to hurt the rest ran from him or tried to kill him, pls help i can't figure out what this game is.
DefiantScope crapmigo can't destroy what's left of the game when there is nothing left. Fiesta has been broken and p2w as fuck the moment cash shop was released during the 79 cap. Basically the first christmas of release lol. I honestly don't know how I played it for 5 years. One update a year that add 5 level and 1 instance. Cash shop is basically required to do anything end game unless you're cleric.
DefiantScope what level cap? I played launch so 59 cap to the 110 cap before finally stopping. Clerics never really need cashshop back then. I mean you had to make sure your party was good and just stay back and heal nothing really ever hits you if your party does what it needs to. No idea about after 110 cap though. Raiding was the single dumbest idea in a mmorpg ever. The raid weapons were so much more powerful that whoever got the first axe held raid forever. Idk how future raiding went but Mal which lasted for like 2 years was held by 2 guilds and it was physically impossible to take it from them. (not to mention all their GM connections lol)
DefiantScope I played back during outspark days on Teva. 2 guild held it on my server but their friends so its just 1 guild really. I also main knight back then when knights were useless. Rather than a knight you just grab a geared glad who can tank Lab and kill it super fast.
DefinantScope it was loveless and another guild. Not manobi keiken, something else was like kazoku or something? I can't remember but definitely remember loveless. Back during the 105-110 patch mages were god. Any mage with a brain would never die to a glad much less a knight. Everyone else got to eat shit. Then there were the archers, lol the Korean devs hated archers with a burning passion.
Misleading title.... this should be My MMO History or something. I was hoping for a video on Old MMOs that are still playable. Wildstar and Guild wars 2 aren't new but they aren't old in comparison to the MMO scene. There are still good old MMOs out there. In my >>>opinion
Hey, thanks for the feedback. I’ve had a few people mention this in the comments, and I agree I’m not super happy with the title. There are two reasons for this: 1. As you mentioned, although some of the games are old, not all of them are that old (it is hard to define the cut off for what makes a game truly old). 2. The fact that it says 2017 is now out of date. All this to say i want to make improvements in future videos. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
what it all boils down to is this......WOW!! we may get tired of it at times and we all take our breaks... but no matter how many MMO's we play out there, looking for that one that makes us feel like WoW or the wow killer, it never will kill WOW and we always go back to it, refreshed and ready for more grinds :)
Original EQ was not just the most epic for its time, it was probably the most realistic rpg of all time (in terms of mechanics) which no other game has matched.
Maplestory was my first and most memorable mmo I have ever played. I thought it was stupid just because it was 2D. Boy was i wrong, i was on that game from day until morning. The music, the maps, the npcs and characters, the flashy skills, some quests. All beautiful when i played. Idk how it is now but man, back in 6th grade was the shiiet.
Its amazing they have so many skills now and its ALOT more newbie friendly then it was orginally with free chacter cards and 3 free pets one being a broom and the other two a horse and bird but those dont have inv space and you can even fly now everywhere in the game like dumbarton and Tir i highly reccomend you go and check it out agian i play on mari if you have a character there let me know and ill even play with you XD
I've been playing for four years haven't finished all the generations quest or doing much combat because I love the community and I spend more time hanging out and fashinoging lol.
If you guys haven't tried Vindictus I would give it a try. It's called Mabinogi Heros for a reason :). Just better graphics and combat but it also has a lot of difference. I played Mabinogi back when Gen 8 just came out I think. Stopped playing like 5 years ago :c I miss the game but can never find the will to get back into it because likely all the millions of gold I had in items aren't worth much now. Yea but Mabinogi still the best mmorpg once you get going (Get like 2-3 rank 1 skills and around level 300).
Wizard101 was that first mmo for me and it gave me that feeling of leveling up like you mentioned. I showed off to all my friends at school how cool my fire wizard is and that my lvl 28 spell was cooler than theirs. I was incredibly motivated to get to the end game, grind out for the best stats to become most powerful, but my parents didn't really want to give me money and it was really hard for 12 year old me to find 10 dollars a month. Not to mention, the level cap kept getting raised by 10 and it felt like max level was always out of reach every time I got close and the quests & storyline got longer, boring, and I already got all the best spells except that one totally necessary one you get 2 levels before max. I'm a pretty picky guy and I hated trying out new mmos, but eventually I found Neverwinter and I liked the fact that it was just simple. Everything just worked, no gimmicks. You picked a generic class that had a lot of generic skills & powers, did generic quests, leveled up, and then played an end game that was actually challenging (the epic dungeons). What was truly fun was that I brought along two friends and we made a plan from the beginning. Me and another guy were going to be human meat shields while the other guy was a hardcore balls to wall dps. I think bringing friends along and being able to play an mmo your own way is probably what makes it special. I feel like if mmos actually put a focus on massive multiplayer, that new ones coming out will actually be good. I feel like modern mmos today are just these boring single player games with some unique gimmick that make you grind making you think there's a glorious end game waiting for you that just so happens to be online and you can see other people doing the same thing. Black Desert felt like it had promise, even if I was playing it solo, but the devs keep ruining it with every update to the point that I can't even enjoy the combat system I fell in love with because the servers have too much latency.
It's too different from the way at was in the beginning. If you want a somewhat, "Authentic" classic experience you can try Project 1999, which is an emulated server stuck back on the 3rd expansion.
Just so you know, there's a new private server from Eden Eternal called Eden Eternal Vendetta. Vendetta server has 2 active versions of the game, currently with a big amount of players: Classic (until lvl 65 without awakening classes) and Awaken (until lvl 85, i think, with classes like mimic, dragon knight etc).
waiting fir Maple Story 2 to come out in NA... I dont know if its because maple story was my first mmorpg back in 2005 but i cant seem to let go of maple lol no matter how many games a try, mmorpg, i just keep coming back to it.. i im not as active as i was years ago, but even loging in for a few minutes or hours makes my day.. SPECIALLY! listening to the BGM's.. ahhhh that Slime Tree, Flight to Orbis, Henesys Hunting Grounds 1, etc... I remember when Aqua Road came out, i was in 9th grade. Me and my friends were so excited to go home and download the patch even tho we couldnt even go there i was a thrill to go and explore and then just come back and continue our leveling routine hahahaha! so yeah, Maple Story has not been uninstalled for years now :D and i cant wait for Maple Story 2 to come to NA.,.. im 27 but man, Maple Story is just special. Amen.
Yup, Maple is amazing! I’m excited for Maplestory 2 as well, hopefully 2018 is the year. And I also love the BGMs! I listen when I’m working all the time, so amazingly peaceful. Brings me back to my childhood! Thanks for sharing buddy :)
Try Maplestory M! It's their new mobile game that is coming out soon and its actually pretty similar to the PC version. It's open beta ended this week actually.
Started on Runescape, went to Guild Wars 1 and played Guild Wars 1 until GW2 came out. Got tired of GW2 as most people did, started playing Maplestory, then started playing WoW, then started playing GW2 again and a few years later I am still playing GW2
TinyBlueGames Yeah man I totally recommend it, your probably going to want to do some prior research on the game. A good character for a beginner would be either ranger or the marauder.
PoE isnt an easy game, u cant compare it with all these mmorpg's on this list. It doesnt have "classes" (well it kinda has), but this game is all about a certain "skill / build". U almost always screw up your first build, and if u want some decent build, u better search for a beginner build on the forums. The game look clunky and boring at first, but as u advance, u'll start noticing how your build and the playstyle changes to fast-paced. A totem build is always good to start with and learn the game, atm ancestral warchief totem is a good build to get started.
"random MMO hopping" ... I feel like we all go through stretches of this at some point. For me it always happens when I know something cool will be coming out, but not for like another year. Waiting for new games/expansions if often what forces me to try new titles I've never heard of, it can be rather fun. Thanks for sharing your history with us friend!
For me my journey was:Legends of Terris (MUD) > EQ (Launch through to Lucin) > WoW (through WotLK) > Aion (Beta & launch through end of year 1) > Neverwinter (PS4 - 6 months) > SkyForge (PS4 - 1 month) > EQ (Project 1999).
Thanks for sharing! What is your opinion of MMOs on a console versus PC? I’ve never really been interested in console gaming, but I always wondered how well they would translate to console.
DOMO is another 1. Mount and flying mechanic 2. Fun pet system 3. Multi-class system. Very deep allows for quite unique and situation builds 4. True team game , supports are just as necessary as the dps and it's actually fulfilling .
Hey guys I’m trying to remember an MMORPG that i used to play on my ipod first gen (i know sounds crazy) okay so if anyone remembers this I remember this town and it was night time and it was basically where you would go for the shops and everything but I remember the entrance of the place had a small river and it was amazingly pretty and you could get up on some buildings its pretty fuzzy i don’t remember much but if anyone remembers it let me know
Hey, thanks for watching! Unfortunately I never played an MMO on my iPhone so I won't be much help. Hopefully someone from the RUclips community can help you!
My first MMORPG was Zu Online, when it was shut down I couldn't find any other game that granted me the same feeling while playing, so I stopped playing MMORPGs since none of them filled the void that Zu Online left in my heart... :(
Runescape was my first mmorpg and the questing was so unique to me. it wasn't go kill x monsters, but the quests had lore and character which once I branched out most mmorpgs just don't have which turns me away. Each quest in runescape was like a chapter in a book, granted there are a few that are standard run of the mill quests you find in all games

I'v just played Tibia for 12 years. now im just sitcking with good old wow
I know I'm a minority here, but the first MMORPG I played was 9Dragons. That game was never the best but using skills to level them and the grinding 1 mob at a time made it feel so much more realistic. The different clans all warring over differences and unique weapons were just amazing to me.
I started out with online games playing this late '90s phone game called Shade, did that for years until it came to an end. Ended up on Ragnarok which was fantastically fun but I never met anyone there I would call a friend, in fact no one ever talked to me. I played a lot of random unknown games after that until Mabinogi where I spent several years, I honestly think that that was some of the most fun I ever had in an online game, so many awesome people I still miss and remember. After that I tried more random games, RO2 being one I really liked (I even got into RO2 open beta in the Korean version). I played Tera after all that for a couple years, it was pretty great, nice people and very fun gameplay! I am now playing FFXIV and getting the same fuzzy happiness I got from Mabinogi, totally worth the sub in my opinion. There is so much you can do in FFXIV I will probably never run out of content.
I started with RuneScape, then World of Warcraft, then Adventure Quest Worlds, then city of heroes/villains/rouges/police, then a hiatus from mmos (for mobas), then back to WoW and also RuneScape. I then realized that my favorite of all of them was city of heroes/villains. It was taken down along time ago way before I got back into mmos. I wanted superhero/villain themed mmos, that’s when I came across DC Universe Online in late 2016, I have been playing since. It’s amazing and you should check it out, although it gets pretty costly, unless you want a membership. I also play 4 mobas too. HotS, LoL, Smite, and Paragon.
May someone help me find this game? My brother always played it,Its was 3d,it was a lot like world of warcraft,it was multiplayer and sometimes there were big portals in the sky where monsters came out and you have to fight them with other people. Rarely there were really big bosses and people waited in giant groups for them to spawn and killing them took a lot of time (like world of warcraft world bosses) i think i remember it much better than it is,but i just want to know how its called. Anyone know it?
I think you are talking about Rift! Very WOW like, and has these portals (rifts) that open up and different monster come through. It has some dungeons and raids. And it is Free to play. Thanks for watching friend :)
TinyBlueGames yes that was it! cant believe it was that easy i didnt know it was that popular back then, but because its dead ill keep playing WOW,Thanks for your help! new subscriber :)
Starcraft, D1, Starcraft Broodwar, D2, Runescape, Wildstar, Stronghold Kingdoms and finally Neverwinter, I just love the Forgotten realms world having read most of the books.
welp...this is how you realize you have no life...when you have played everysingle mmo on this list and about 100 more...
+Jackson Littleshoes haha yup, mind you I’m sure there are some that I forgot to mention! What are some of your favourite old ones?
old ones eh? hmm Flyff was pretty neat i remember really enjoying playing the buffing class and flying around of course xD Ragnarok online was another, i enjoyed mabinogi...god i spent alot of time in that so many skills, oh and city of heroes/villians
I started with Club Penguin.. Does that count? :(
RIP Club Penguin. Thanks for sharing!
technically club penguin was an mmo rpg
Just like how winnie the pooh was a novella
Hah. Considering that most of these ARE old mmorpg's that you CAN still play, i'd say the title still fits. Gotta love trolls.
Ya was pissed about it at first but before i knew i ended up watching the whole thing.. cause of the nostalgia..
But these are old MMOs you can still play. People are absolutely brainless these days. See a specialist.
FFXIV is the answer , I played everything EVERYTHING and this game is so far the best I ever played
What makes this game so good for you? I haven’t tried it out myself. Thanks for your suggestion friend :)
Ya watching this video of yours I can tell you ffxiv is the game you want
I've played Maplestory for 12 years, I just level up new classes to 200 for fun whenever I get the chance.
I started with Runescape > Maplestory & WoW (played both constantly for years) > FFXIV > Guild Wars 2 > Black Desert Online
Maplestory is a game that I consistently come back to. It just has so many good memories wrapped up in it :) it sounds like you followed a similar path to myself. Thanks for watching!
How is BDO for you compared to GW2? I like to take breaks between living world updates
i cant play maple story :c, nexon block my ip region :c
Well, where are you from.
I mean, some regions has their own servers and there for you can not play on the other servers.
You should probably go do some reserch about that and then check if you are trying to play on the right server.
My story is very similar
i played maplestory when tiger was number 1
Tiger is my Hero! It was so much fun when there was still a race going on for the first level 200! I miss those days. Thanks for watching :)
me too XD
i was 17 when Maplestory came out lol
Tiger was 5 different people.
kinda had to be to get to 200 that fast in the old days
Dragon nest will always have a place in my heart. I discovered it thanks to the help of a small time streamer known as Sam Koopa. From then, we streamed it with IDKgames every sunday until sam tragically passed away in mid February of this year. And for helping me find a great friend that I'll never forget, DN will always have a top spot for me.
I started In both Mu online & Runescape then moved to Maplestory for a few years and then moved to World of Warcraft and I've been playing it since...
Sounds like a fun journey! What has kept you playing WOW for you many years? Are you excited for the coming of Classic WOW? Thanks for watching :)
you brought together our community in a way for us to congeal and talk about something we all have in common taking us away from the trolling and putting down of each other... well done :)
I thought this video was more recent, so when I heard you saying that "The game is still fairly active" about Wildstar. Had me a bit confused.
I started with wizard101, that old kids game. Lol it was good but never bought a membership. Now, my main MMOs are Brawlhalla, Kritika and does tribes ascend count?
Ragnarok online -> Flyff -> Ragnarok online -> Rappelz -> shiet ton of random mmorpgs -> TERA -> currently GW2 for years
flyff
Flyff and Rappelz then Tera, i think a lot of MMO people followed this same trend :) I got into Diablo type of game (Path of Exile is what i play now)
Every MMO logo: Quick, we need to show our name in the logo!
Cabal Online: You know who i am.
Really enjoyable video. I started with Dragon fable > sherwood dungeons > runescape > tibia > guild war 1 > warhammer online > Forge online > wow > runes of magic > allods online > wow > guild wars 2 > elder scrolls online > wow > black desert > sky forge > wow > stopped playing mmos, now I just play overwatch and pubg xD
Forgot silkroad online
Thanks for the kind words! And really great list you got there, but you certainly show what’s been happening to the MMO market over the years. Certainly a shift towards non MMOs :p who knows what 2018 will being though!
Shadoum dragonfable isn't an mmo though
Shadoum You didnt played Aion Tera, Metin2, Lineage and Swtor
TIBIA?!!! what class?!!
Tales of Pirates ; Grand Chase ; Lunia ; Rumble Fighter ; Dungeon Runners ; Archlord ; Dekaron ( 2 Moons ) ; Zzang ; Rakion .. Those were the times..
Thanks for watching :)
very great video, brings memory's back. thanks for that
+jon straut hey, thanks! I had a lot of fun going back and playing the games while making the video. Thanks for watching!
Our friendship was started in uni campus, flourished in WAR, Matured in WoW and died with LoL.
wait, no tibia?
Never tried that one! Is it still running these days? I love trying old MMOs that I somehow missed. Thanks for sharing :)
TinyBlueGames Tibia is 21 years old now and still going stronk :D
Stronk? Hmm well, its different nowadays. Sadly I dont like it, Id rather play a old school ot. A much better experience imo :)
i used to play Tibia aswell, now i log in on Medivia Online from time to time =) Tibia was ruined by bots.
tibia was ruined by hotkey's and pots i remember typing all the spells and the bots were no problem just kill them ;) acctually 90% of people that were still playing were botting after patch 10 or 11 they fixed the botters. they went from 50k-80k online to maybe 5k in that week it was so funny to see
What a videio dude! You made my old good memories of rpgs come back. Thank you u for this.
aw man i miss fiesta
Who doesn’t miss the good old days? Thanks for watching!
honestly, in all my years of playing mmo's and any game really, I never once even leveled up even 1 character to the max level, lol...
Cabal is one of tye the best game for mmo
Yeah mate
I spent thousands of hours playing it, at one point I was the strongest FS on EU Mercury.
When I quit I sold all my alz and bought a sick gaming PC.
I miss this game i hope they bring it back :(
It's on Steam.
Man the vibes i would get playing Maplestory and just thinking about it as a kid...i miss that.
hmm, the video was not what I expected based on the title, but it was better than that :3 Nice video :D
Ya I actually first released it with a different thumbnail/title, but it didn’t get much traction. I did some slight tweaks, and it has really helped the video out. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Yep P2W and P2A.
I didn't see anyone mention Trickster! And does PSO count?
lod2 ,guild wars ,archlord, cabal, DDO & LOTRO, RIFT, Archage and back to cabal
I've gone from Wow to game back to wow to another game and always find my self coming back to WoW... still play today!
You should definitely try Path of Exile. It's an insanely deep arpg, you can easily spend 2k+ hrs in it if you enjoy it.
PoE is my wife's absolute favorite game. I've sank hundreds of hours into it also.
Diablo's formulae, not in PoE anymore.
Here is a closer look at Maplestory in 2019:
ruclips.net/video/oLYu9kaOOiY/видео.html
Thank you for so much support guys!
Thank you.
Imo opinion guild wars 2 had changed a lot since and I'm back playing it again. :)
TinyBlueGames Ragnarok Online - Dragon Nest - Tree Of Savior - Black Desert Online
Great video man! My timeline was incredibly similar lol
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching :)
this is my mmo history
granado espada/sword of the new world ->fiesta online -> prius online/arcane saga (shut down) -> luna online -> aura kingdom -> rift online->echo of souls -> neverwinter->blade and soul ->guild wars 2 -> elder scrolls online -> tera online -> revelation online -> allods online
to me, prius online was the game that I invested the most in, but when it got shut down, I was pretty much devastated.
RuneScape for life; currently playing Old School RuneScape (OSRS) watching this.
A lot of people have been commenting that I should give Runescape a try. Which version do you recommend for someone that has never played it before? Thanks for watching :)
Old School for sure man
oldschool.runescape.com/?jptg=ia&jptv=navbar
I feel like RS3 is better. Old School is more for nostalgia.
lol, you don't know the history if you feel that way.
TL;DR
I disagree that RS3 is better than OSRS, and I have many ways to evaluate this subjective standard to make it more objective. All RS3 has is a key-board based combat system and 'better' graphics. OSRS is the RuneScape that people think of when you say RuneScape, and I think they should rename RS3 to WorldScape and give OSRS the title of RuneScape back as a marketing strategy.
PS
I'm trying to max an ironman account on OSRS, a process that takes years (and I'm pretty close).
How do you remember every single one you played? Cuz whenever you mention an older game, I was like ' Oh yeah, I played this before' and it never wouldve occured ot me otherwise.
Anyone Remember Fairy Story Online , game ? Ouch man... I miss it :'(
I don’t think I ever tried that one. Is it still running nowadays? Thanks for sharing with us!
TinyBlueGames Nah, its deleted or somthing. Sadly no way to play that game :p
ValgoVergaPorqueNoséPonerNombresChidos2016 yayy
Hey are you goint to try Bless online out? It has a really big hype right now and maybe its going to be something ^c^
Sherwood Dungeon -> Runescape -> Guild Wars 1 (Loved this one) ->Allods Online -> WoW -> Shaiya -> Dragon Ball Online -> Guild Wars 2
shaiya was so hype back in the day...so sad. My brother was playing it the other day. Still looks generally the same as it did almost 10 years ago.
My MMO History
Ragnarok-->Khan-->Gunbound--->Ran Online, Tantra, Cabal, Flyff, MU, R.O.S.E., Perfect World, Rohan and the list still continues
haha pinoy. gb rose flyff lang nilaro ko
RIP PPSBO
I can't remember the first MMO I played but I played maplestory when I was 8 or so and I played Fiesta since release. No longer play the actual server only do private servers.
Toontown > EverQuest > WoW > EverQuest (Project 1999 emu server)
I always have to chuckle though when people say how "hardcore" classic WoW was. I wanna see these guys try to get to there corpses having to sneak by everything you already killed in the dungeon
Where's Runes of Magic on your screen and in your list?
Lol man I was a big Fiesta player. Loved FBZ1
Haha I really enjoyed it too, not that I was very good. I remember really enjoying how the more powerful you made a weapon, the cooler it would look! I also love there big party quests (not sure of their exact name) that happened every couple hours ! Thanks for watching :)
Kingdom Quests ;3
Crow lmaoo you can’t even get enough people to do a kq now :(
Dragon nest was and still is one of my favorite FREE action based MMOs I ever played.
Fiesta = flyff rip off XD
Right
Ranusha actually fiesta was released in 2006. I would know since Ive been playing since 2008. So about 10 years.
Flyff is over a year older.
@@Ranusha salty.
Maplestory. Whatever happened to that game? It was awesome at its simplicity.
You never tried Runescape?
Didn't wait until the end of the video for you to say that sorry XD
Haha nah I’ve never played it. I watched my brother play it a couple times many years ago. If I was to give it a try nowadays, which version of the game would you recommend I try?
TinyBlueGames I would say old school runescape for sure! If you do add me on there
I would recommend playing the main version of the game RS3.
Most of the player base finds rs3 ruined rs, but like ya said it's all for personal preference!
is fiesta rly still online cuzz i tried redownloading it and when i click play it just doesnt work im a try again cause i need this game back in my life.
u should do one on mmorpgs with trading and economy
Interesting, any specific examples of games you’d like too see? Thanks for commenting!
Runescape as i've never really found a game like it with a similar economy that allowed player trading within the community
I actually never really tried RuneScape, maybe I should explore it! Do you have any suggestions/tips if I was going to dive into the game? Which version of the game should I try? Thanks for your input!
oldschool is the version i prefer, due to the classic graphics
In fact you guys should try path of exile, yes it's a ARPG, but it's really a huge trading economy
I had played MapleStory since 2004 and had been AFK for a long time. It was really a beautiful memory that untill now, as I heard the BGM, I just can't hold my tears...
Tibia most game I played . I loved the pvpe system.
That’s a game that I haven’t tried, I’ll have to look it up! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing friend :)
oh flyff was a blast for a period..it was a really nice game for a while dont remember what happened and i stopped
I still love logging into Anarchy Online, just to hear the sounds, from time to time. It's hard to enjoy anymore, but it was the first.
Ragnarok Online, various versions of RO, guild wars 2.
I play gw2 to this day
What’s your favourite part of GW2 nowadays? Thanks for watching!
Very good but where are these Old MMO's?
ah fiesta
Ahhh the good old days :) thanks for watching!
GravesDisease the strongest perm in the history of fiesta online
fiesta from ouspack :'( miss u
Where's the Mabinogi?????
Hahahaha I love mmos but I've never had the feeling of get stuck with one specifically, maybe cause where I am from no one cares to much about this kind of games so I never found people who likes it too:( so sad
same problem here :(
Cam Y Where Are u from?
Juan Pablo Celorio England
trying to remember a game, cellshaded/anime ish style multiple modes of play all of it was pvp started with buying permenet weapons but updated to weapons that degraded over time but were much cheaper. one playlist was one guy was death and vary hard to hurt the rest ran from him or tried to kill him, pls help i can't figure out what this game is.
Fiesta online p2w
GravesDisease controls the abysses in Fiesta Online
Then there were the archers, lol the Korean devs hated archers with a burning passion.
plz include a timeline so i can jump to whatever game i wanna hear about
Misleading title.... this should be My MMO History or something.
EVERQUEST Original. Most epic game ever imo
Sadly I have never tried it :/ what do you play nowadays?
Original EQ was not just the most epic for its time, it was probably the most realistic rpg of all time (in terms of mechanics) which no other game has matched.
EQ1 was just bad on every level tbh
Everquest was great but I preferred Asherons Call over the big starting 3.
Project 1999 is where is at if you want that old school vibe. Eq1 live is a dumpster fire of a game
What you guys think about lineage 2 ?.
I spent my hole childhood there.
My first addiction it was fun memories ......
Cabal is said like Cuhbal as in the first A having an open A sound more prominent in the romance languages
Thank you! I hope I remember this next time I talk about the game. Did you play the game yourself? Thanks for commenting!
Maplestory was my first and most memorable mmo I have ever played. I thought it was stupid just because it was 2D. Boy was i wrong, i was on that game from day until morning. The music, the maps, the npcs and characters, the flashy skills, some quests. All beautiful when i played. Idk how it is now but man, back in 6th grade was the shiiet.
even tho Out of ALLL Those games on nexon Mabinogi has the DEEPEST story and the best combat sytem XD
Oooo Mabinogi is a great one! I only ever played it for a couple weeks. How is the game these days ? Thanks for watching :)
Well, have you read the Story in Maplestory, it is waaaay better now days and it is actually really good.
Everquest 99-2017
A game that I have never tried! Maybe I should take a look at it nowadays. How is Everquest doing in 2018? Thanks for watching :)
It's too different from the way at was in the beginning. If you want a somewhat, "Authentic" classic experience you can try Project 1999, which is an emulated server stuck back on the 3rd expansion.
Stoic Outrider *2nd expansion just kunark and velious no moon cats yet 😂
Did you ever play perfect world?
I started playing mmo with Nostale, fiesta and.. EDEN ETERNAL ! eden ma love xD But now the game is dying..
Ah I remember that game! So sad when games start to die... But at least it last for a while. Thanks for commenting friend :)
What is this game at 3:09?
waiting fir Maple Story 2 to come out in NA...
Where Aion at?
You could try Path Of Exile
I have been looking into this game a lot recently! What do you think is a good character for beginners to try out? Thanks for watching!
A totem build is always good to start with and learn the game, atm ancestral warchief totem is a good build to get started.
also poe is not a mmo
I fell in love with your video as soon as you mentioned fiesta........... ah so much memories
Ahh Fiesta! What good childhood memories. I love Kingdom Quests, what was your favourite part of the game? Thanks for watching :)
WoW > Tales of Pirates > Fiesta > Perfect World Int > random mmo hopping > then back to pwi and wow > GW2 And others currently
Im around the same like you when it goes to Wow, Pwi and fiesta lol!
Tales of Pirates. Those were the days!
it was good while it lasted
GravesDisease controls the abysses of fiesta online and rekt anyone that enters them
For me my journey was:Legends of Terris (MUD) > EQ (Launch through to Lucin) > WoW (through WotLK) > Aion (Beta & launch through end of year 1) > Neverwinter (PS4 - 6 months) > SkyForge (PS4 - 1 month) > EQ (Project 1999).
Thanks for sharing! What is your opinion of MMOs on a console versus PC? I’ve never really been interested in console gaming, but I always wondered how well they would translate to console.
Shaiya > FFXIV
Oooo Shaiya is one I haven’t heard of! Can you still play it nowadays? Thanks for watching :)
Been published by Aeria Games since 2007. Still up and running, but it's very P2W.
Haha nice joke FF is the best and most popular mmo :)
>very p2w
>better than ffxiv
Shaiya is dead max 100 players xD
DOMO is another
1. Mount and flying mechanic
2. Fun pet system
3. Multi-class system. Very deep allows for quite unique and situation builds
4. True team game , supports are just as necessary as the dps and it's actually fulfilling .
FF14 BEST
Hey guys I’m trying to remember an MMORPG that i used to play on my ipod first gen (i know sounds crazy) okay so if anyone remembers this I remember this town and it was night time and it was basically where you would go for the shops and everything but I remember the entrance of the place had a small river and it was amazingly pretty and you could get up on some buildings its pretty fuzzy i don’t remember much but if anyone remembers it let me know
Hey, thanks for watching! Unfortunately I never played an MMO on my iPhone so I won't be much help. Hopefully someone from the RUclips community can help you!
Order and Chaos?
Is Runescape worth playing?
No Lineage 2, so disappointed... That game sucked me in for over 6 years! You should definitely check it out.
that was also my first mmo!!I loking for that game for days!!THANK YOUUU
