2019 Oscar Reviews: • 2019 Best Picture Nomi...
The best review for this movie I’ve seen. Mank is my favorite movie of the year and I think it’s just completely flying over people’s heads.
josh is a great critic and even though i wish he uploaded more, oscar season becomes a bit more nicer since he returns with his spot on analysis. i recommend his boyhood series or his dr strangelove vid for extra content
Is it already that time of year again?
great comment/review/analysis. totally agree that one has to see Mank in contrast and parallel to Citizen Kane. keep up the good work
Wow! So informative and insightful. Love these reviews
1:19 Great observations. (8:03) Someone well-read gets to ramble. A better look without the weight, but don’t shift your feet; you look like you’re 8 and reading a book report. It’s not the backup mic; your voice will much sound better without room reflections. Try a shotgun mic in a carpeted room
great review as usual! you said you watched two shows by Fincher, what did you think of Mindhunter? i thought it was a great way of analyzing violence without actually showing violence
I love Mindhunter (who doesn't?), and I think you're spot on with your assessment. The show is both a product of and a commentary on people's sick fascination with killers. A lot of Fincher's work is along those same lines but Mindhunter is textually about that.
@@MoviesILoveandsocanyou Haha I am glad to hear that, I am foolishly holding on hope that we will see a season 3 in a reasonably time frame. It's funny, in many ways it feels like the most obviously "Fincher"-y of his modern output, but its super restrained in comparison to movies like Se7en
I know you've mentioned this in previous years but do you have a personal favourite out of the Best Picture nominees this year? I have to say Sound of Metal is probably my favourite
It's been a fluid ranking as I watch and rewatch, but I really enjoyed Sound of Metal and Mank (more than everyone else seemed to), and Promising Young Woman and Nomadland are up there too.
@@MoviesILoveandsocanyou Yeah that’s similar to me, I really really liked Mank too, thanks for responding and keep up the great work!
