This configuration of Squire combination lock is a little harder to decode and I hear, gets worse as they age and wear, but it is still very doable

Its nice to see an expert in locksport who is helping others in solving puzzles.
Most of the others have turned to selling proprietary tools with little to no actual advice on there channel.

Spent an hour trying to remember/guess my code this morning & got it open half way through this video! Lifesaver, thank you!

Some people use a small clamp to hold down the shackel and button, and it stops the hand cramp 👍

      Not a bad idea!

I've decoded a couple of these with the button and shackle press. Squire supplied a tool like a centre punch to insert into the little holes between the numbers to help to turn the wheels for a code change. So, if there are holes between the numbers, button press is needed, if not then bounce method is worth a try.

Picked up the long shackle version of this for $1 at an Amazon Returns store. Locked. No idea if it is broken or not but I am having fun trying to open it. It was a dollar. Worth it for the puzzle alone.

Well done on getting the open. I’ve not tried this particular version of the CP50, but the older versions opened easily by pushing the button in and turning the wheels with the coding tool supplied.

I’ll have to give that a go

I wrote to Squire Locks about the bouncy decoding issue and here is their reply, "Someone discovered that if you pushed the wheels down on each number the correct number would bounce significantly more, this issue has now been engineered out and all the numbers bounce the same, meaning it is not possible to discover the code in this way."

Thank you very much for sharing this. Does the same technique work on a 5 wheel squire combination padlock?

7:56 if you're brute forcing, you should also try 1984, the year the building you're in was created (in London, often on the capstone above the lobby door) and, if it's a posh and British 1952 (QE2's coronation date).
It's actually shocking how often people pick those three things in communal areas.
(My job involves taking a lot of meter readings from locked cupboards in communal hallways, before you ask 😂)

ive got one of these and i lost the combination. after fiddling i got it open but dont really know how. then i forgot the combo again and looked it up on youtube and the way it was being done didnt work for me but some how i got it open again. something like what you did here but not too sure which thing actually works.

Well, it's great for security the springy down method doesn't work but weirdly also a bit disappointing.
You can't please all of the people all of the time 😂😂😂😂😂
    Awesome decode 🙂👍

I normally cover my eyes with one hand, point with the other, spin around 3 times and pick the one I’m pointing at
