    Love the play on “Wounded Knee” as Hanzee casually busts their kneecaps

  • @PandaBonzai

    The reason Hanzee shot Dod, was because of all the racism he was facing. Then when he got to Dod, he called him a "mongrel" so that was the final disrespect.

    • @eighthdoctor
      @eighthdoctor 3 года назад +43

      Agreed. After the vomit on a Native American plaque site, ordering a drink and getting it with a glob of spit in it, the racist barman and patrons, the patrons making the stereotypical whooping sounds that they think NAs made, I think Dodd labelling Hanzee as a "mongrel" was the final straw and he'd just reached his breaking point. Dodd got what he deserved imo (long overdue!).

That shootout in the building S1E7 is where Hanzee gets killed. I also have to say that i refuse to bilieve that but if you watch the details then that is what happend.

    The great thing about this season is, you've got three to four movies worth of story telling all put together to support each other. Each story could have been it's own movie, the gang war, the accidental murder of a mob family with the couple sent into a telling run away, the initial fargo esq detective plot, and hanze's story.
    If you look back at the phone booth scene, the hangman answer is supposed to be "Sioux Falls". Again, lots of hidden details worth constant rewatches of these episodes. I used to listen and watch to lots of reviews this season, too pick up everything I missed when watching it as it aired.

    Lorne Malvo=Hanzee Dent=Anton Chigurh? All FANTASTIC villains/anti-hero. I think Malvo is my favorite of the three probably because he had more dialogue and was super creepy/funny. Chigurh comes in at a close second for me. Just the absolute definition of an unstoppable malevolent force (It can't be reasoned with, it can't be bargained with...it doesn't feel pity or remorse or fear...and it absolutely will not stop. Ever. Until you are dead.) to borrow a quote. Hanzee is a bit different as I think we feel more sympathetic towards his character than the other 2 but he is super menacing none the less. This anthology is just FUCKING AWESOME in almost every way. One of the best tv series I've seen in probably the last couple of decades. (I will concede that season 1 of True Detective was as equally well written and acted as Fargo...fight me lol). Which remides me @Brandon you do need to check out True Detective as well. Cheers

    What Peggy does has nothing to do with shock. She is ill in the head and always has been. She lives in her own world. The compulsion to make a better person out of herself, the collecting mania, her kleptomania with the toilet rolls. The whole basement full of newspapers, all about a better life. And you still didn't come up with the idea that she has a psychological forced cancellation? 😁
    This has nothing to do with shock. Anything that doesn't fit into her vision for her own best life is simply faded out or played down "we have kind of a little problem here" . She was not in shock when she drove the Gerhardt half-dead. This event just didn't fit into her vision, so she just passed that over. 😉
    What is on TV and she watches also has to do with her mental state. This movie is important for the next episodes.
    Hanze is just fed up with white racists and people who treat him like shit as well as his people. He has even gone to war for whites. He nevertheless gets no respect. He is a proud man and has followed orders from whites like a dog all his life. That's understandable. What did you see in the intro of the first episode? It was about a battle between native amerikans and whites. In the process, the Native American was deprived of his identity. There was a man in Native American clothing, but that had nothing to do with him anymore.
    Hanze tried again here with confidence in Peggy, but she stabbed him in the back. He virtually saves their lives and again he is disappointed.

The actor playing the bartender is one Gary Chalk, who was the voice of Optimus on Beast Wars in the 90s and in several subsequent Transformers series since then. He's done dozens of notable voice roles, including plenty of villains, but seeing the voice of your childhood in live action playing such a realistically awful human being is rough, yo.

      For me season 3 is actually the best of the show so far, and Varga may be one of my favorite villians ever. It may not be as outwardly wild and "eventful" as S1 or 2, but in terms of themes, cinematography, atmosphere, acting, writing and characters it's just astounding.
