I think the two parts that sinks Bruce’s Shawn was just telling a story in there argument is when Shawn slaps him across the face when hogan blocks his head going into the turnbuckle towards the beginning and Shawn looks like come on man really gonna give me nothing? then there was another later on, on the ropes where Shawn really slaps him again and hogan turns around and comes back with a real punch. Yeah, but that screws the person that has to show up the following night. Their being so willing to go for instant gratification money wise is why they’re in the position they’re in now.
No one is moaning concerning the result. It's the result of the process which Hogan obviously muddled and Shawn was pissed off on. With regards to Owen he was a great great wrestler but in mind there was no way that he was going WWF Champion post Montreal which I assume is your timeline. The plans were Austin to be the man at Wrestlemania 14 and he facing the best challenger possible and that was the other face of the New Generation Era and the only man who could pass the torch who is Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart was the other face but had gone. Owen was never the face of the company which if you would ask me should have been 1994 where truly felt like a main event.
Mark Eric Mark Eric no Owen wouldn’t have won the belt but he wasn’t even willing to work a proper program with him. It’s well known that Owen was meant to get a push by working with Shawn of course he wasn’t going to win the belt but he could have pushed himself into the main event scene if Shawn wasn’t such a prick.
@@Bobbywoodhogan I see your point there. I don't think many people say it as you do. I have seen many people argue for Owen to win a match at that period which I couldn't see it being logical because between Montreal and Mania 14 was really short 4 months. But I have always been curious why the next paperview Shawn faced Shamrock instead of Owen and Owen interfered in the match. Then Michael's faced Taker at the Rumble. I think the Rumble would have been great. I think they faced on a Raw episode and Shawn was afraid of Owen going into business for himself and that may have been the reason why there was a decent program. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge Shawn fan and he is my favourite but I can't excuse him for his behaviour especially in 97. Without question he is one of the sure fire GOATs but he should never have been this much of a prick considering just how naturally good he was.
Mark Eric yesh even Shawn himself had admits how bad he was. In a way his back injury was a blessing for himself really I truly believe had he not gotten out of the business when he did he’d have wound up dead. Instead he was able to get himself straight and make on hell of a comeback years later.
Is it me or does it seem like Bruce is trying to avoid actually saying Hogan was trying to pull strings to get a one and done? He was stammering and trying to evade the question. Hell Shawn has admitted to pushing back against Hogan as well as admitting he regrets screwing up the match itself.
Shawn hit the crowd with one of the most hilarious, smartassed, in character promos on Hogan ever, and while fans were falling out of their chair laughing, a few tight asses decided that was the "unprofessional" thing to dwell on.. really? With these two particular people in the ring.. THIS is the unprofessional bit? Shawn put on the comedy wrestling performance of a lifetime. He followed with a comedic promo... he was turned heel prior so..... it all fit. Was it overdone? Sure.. but compared to many, many other things these two have been involved in? Nah, this was a comedic show... and if He took two steps back, Hogan would see it that way too. Now, if there was to be a follow up match, then this would have been extremely unprofessional.... but because of the previous decision to nix the follow up match... they could easily have gone with a clean win for either, but then we'd have angry fans to this day talking about how the other should have won. This way, Shawn was the clear ass, the "Hero" got the win, and the story, for the most part, was closed. In the end, it worked out. There was a time in both these men's career that the quote so famously said by Shawn was true... "If I go down, you're all coming with me". To be that big in the biz, there's going to be egos.... in the end we got what most want out of it.. good guy won, bad guy lost and came off as an asshole.

In all fairness, I think most people would rather watch a shawn michaels match than a hulk hogan match. Michaels was 100x the in ring performer that hulk hogan was.
I thought I heard that he did that, cause it was supposed to be a series of 3 matches. And then, with hogans physical health in 2005 wasn’t all there, so it was narrowed down to 1 and Shawn was beyond pissed so he basically said “fuck this.” Again, something I heard. I could be wrong
It should be the person in charge deciding the matches on who wins and if they don't like it tough they should be sent home no pay for not doing the match your way
And he STILL drew more money than HBK ever could. Only pansy snarks like you worry about how great they can work. The best stars in the business prove it isnt who the best worker was. Unless you are (as I suspect) a bret smark that talk about workrate and shit like that. The equivalent to breaking down a fight in a tv show or movie blow by blow.
A great spot in this match would have been: elbow drop from HBK, kick out at one into hulking up, Hogan points the finger and gives him the YOU! and right when he does that, he gets caught with sweet chin music. If it's a one-off, he can kick out and they can go into another finishing sequence. If it's a 3-match series, that could have been a way to get a flash pin in match one or two.
I am a Shawn Michaels fan and I never was a Hulk Hogan fan. So, this is not in any way a defense of Hogan. BUT for Prichard to even suggest that Michaels was putting on a entertaining match instead of the OBVIOUS MOCKERY he was making of said match and out of Hogan is absurd. Now either Prichard is ignorant or attempting to shed good light, very poorly I might add, on the situation. Any other entertainer that didn't go by the name of HBK or Triple H in the WWE would have surely been fired on the spot for such a unprofessional , spoiled brat display.
I hate it when I see someone like you claiming to be a real fan and believing all of Dave Meltzer's lies. Bruce is so full of bullcrap, he'd make a great politician. He's tip toeing around hard questions so he doesn't talk shit about Hogan or Shawn. Shawn showed his ass and made the match a joke because Hogan got his way. Hogan didn't want to put over the "small" guy Shawn, same as with Bret.
Only retards blame Legends like HBK, Undertaker, and Bret Hart. Those 3 were the 3 biggest stars of the mid 90's while the rest of the WWF were silly gimmicks. HBK in reality was a huge draw. In 1999 as WWF Commissioner, he was the main part of the Highest Rated Episode of Monday Night Raw of all time. When he returned to action in 2002, he was the top face/most over/most popular guy in the WWE all the way until he retired.
Because he always had the best match at WrestleMania simple as that. That doesn't mean he was a draw. He didn't bring crowds in for the Austin match, Austin did. Bret was the draw in their feud.
Hogan had already put over the guy that was "supposed" to be his heir-apparent (The Rock) in his first Wrestlemania-match in 9 years. Then The Rock went to Hollywood.........O_0 I don't blame Hogan for not doing the job here. In this *one-case,* this doesn't work for him brother. HBK losing this match didn't hurt anything as he went on to have some of if not THE best-matches of his career after this. If Hogan had jobbed to HBK here, there would have been no use for him. Had he of jobbed a year-later to Orton there REALLY would be no use for him. Of course we know that Hogan is the master-politician and he was trying to position-himself for a possible match against Austin. Love him or hate him, *NO ONE* in the business knows more about how to market themselves better than Hulk. It's like Tony Atlas said. Not only are wrestlers independent-contractors, they are their own brand. They are all selling the same product (wrestling,) but it is up to them to position themselves to make the most money. You have to invest in your brand. Your physical-fitness, your diet, your mic-skills, your in-ring skills, your character, how you are viewed by your peers and how you are viewed by management. Being a pro-wrestler you actually are an entrepreneur.
How would winning a best of three matches by 2-1 make him useless lol. If the original is plan is Shawn wins one and Hogan wins two, he comes out strong, Shawn gets a win, and they both can go their separate ways. Both dudes have done dickhead things like this so there's no real dog to back, but to say Hogan was making sense is just folly. Going 2-1 over HBK would have done nothing to him, and he'd have worked with Orton just fine.
The difference is the rock is already over having beat Hogan didn't do anything to the rock legacy or push. It was Hogan that needed the spot light with the Rock

The crowd wasn’t 50/50 lol. Hogan did heelish things but the fans felt it was justified based on how much heat the heels had
The feud was memorable. What more could you ask for?
He's reading this stuff from wade keller as if its gospel and asking Bruce to explain it. Bruce didn't write it, why does he have to respond to it? Just interview him about his recollection of it.
I’m surprised how the promos haven’t touched on Hogan being the leader of NWO & Shawn being the leader of DX. Maybe if their feud went longer they would’ve tapped into that. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤔🤔🤔

Typical fans moaning about Hogan not putting Shawn over like Shawn has never refused to put anyone over (e.g. Owen Hart)
Shawn didn’t deserve to go over
Is it me or does it seem like Bruce is trying to avoid actually saying Hogan was trying to pull strings to get a one and done? He was stammering and trying to evade the question. Hell Shawn has admitted to pushing back against Hogan as well as admitting he regrets screwing up the match itself.
Oh Bruce, because Hogan was so well known for doing what was best for business wasn't he?
Oh like the boytoy was so well known for doing what's best for business right?
Hulkster probably saw himself as the business, so yeah
Nobody saw last call with Scott hall when he watched this match with kid. Hall broke it down what was really going on
That's because workers actually know what's going on in a match, but yes I agree.
Hulk Hogan vs. Shawn Michaels. Total wrestling magic.

And of course Michaels gets to the match, makes complete full of himself. By flopping around like a fish, and over selling everything. But hulk stays as cool as a cucumber, the whole time.
@Zedrik Allen No he was not.
No, he made Hogan look like the fool, which of course was the entire point.
@@andrewgreenberg9204 He set out to make Hogan look foolish. The result depends on if you are inclined to mark for Hogan or mark for Michaels. Objectively, who wins that contest?
I don't see how that makes Hogan look foolish. Hogan looked like the professional while Shawn threw a hissy fit.
@@chubbycatfish4573 Also, when you look at things like the Vader scenario, curtain call, and losing his smile, it's pretty easy to throw this log into that fire. For those who might say HH is the ultimate politciker for whom "that doesn't work for me brother", he kept that stuff behind the cameras. Much as it may shock some...internet wrestling fans are not actually part of the show. If it didn't happen in front of the audience, then it didn't happen in the canon.
... that isnt supposed to be Shawn Michael's in the thumbnail is it? Cause it look's nothing like him
Shawn turned that Hogan match into a clown show. It blows my mind how anyone can call him the best when he's perfectly happy to fuc k fans out of money like he did here and in 97 when he left a show and started a riot. His biggest claim to fame is being the top guy at a time when the company was about as popular as crotch rot and he was only too for two years before taking his ball and going home. He came back 4 years later and all of a sudden he's being called the greatest champion in company history and "Me Wrestlemania", what complete bullshit
In all fairness, I think most people would rather watch a shawn michaels match than a hulk hogan match. Michaels was 100x the in ring performer that hulk hogan was.
Yea man hogan is the clown show
Kind of hard to feel sorry for HBK when he fucked over ppl over the years. Shane Douglas, Vader, Bret, etc
His story was that this was not a serious match. He made it a joke because he was upset he was losing
It should be the person in charge deciding the matches on who wins and if they don't like it tough they should be sent home no pay for not doing the match your way
Shawn would out work Hogan everyday twice on Sunday.
Hogan was basically a cripple since the early 2000s. I would hope HBK could out work him, lol
Couldn’t outwork him in ticket sales
Bruce Michaels in the thumbnail looks like Chris Jericho lol.
Idc what some dopey wrestling fans think, Hogan was the man & without him there would be no wresting as we know it today.
No worko with Mr. Stiffo
Image looks more like Jericovid than HBK.
I prefer the Eric Bischoff show with Conrad, he has a more entertaining personality
Conrad have the better questions, better insight
Hogan played politics, he NEVER wanted to lose to Michaels
We as real fans know hogan is not losing unless there's something in it for him down the line
💯 Hogan lying out of his ass. It’s all he knows how to do. And be racist.
I hate it when I see someone like you claiming to be a real fan and believing all of Dave Meltzer's lies. Omg Bruce is such an "Artfull Dodger". How can he do that?!. He's a lying sob but I still like him.

I was told Meltzer gets his info from Bruce himself then Bruce plays it off like he doesn't know who gives Dave info
If the argument against Shawn is that he couldn't draw, why is he referred to as Mr. Wrestlemania? Doesn't make sense.
@@ChristopherJames1993 You could say that The Rock is a bigger Hollywood draw than Tom Hanks. Love The Rock but who's the better actor?
@@fmthebaron For sure! He really helped WWE out in the 2000s.
Hogan had already put over the guy that was "supposed" to be his heir-apparent (The Rock) in his first Wrestlemania-match in 9 years. Then The Rock went to Hollywood.........O_0
I don't blame Hogan for not doing the job here.
