What's interesting about Pink Floyd is that they were so edgy that they still sound current today in many ways. The album The Wall came out in late 1979 and the concept film/rock opera came out in 1982. I haven't seen it in ages, but the whole film is very dark and trippy and it was groundbreaking at the time. Check this out for comparison to day - The Wall was a double album (so 4 sides) on vinyl and there were a total of 26 songs. It's meant to be listened to in sequence even though there are several stand out songs. Another Brick in the Wall has 3 different parts, with other songs in between. Comfortably Numb is the other most known song from the album. Hardcore fans could tell you the other songs worth listening to. For comparison, our girl Taylor just put out 31 songs on two albums.
Ah sequential, that’s gonna take a whole day haha, and 31 songs! Makes me feel like I’m not doing enough in life honestly, very inspiring. I’ll check out the comfortably numb. You know your stuff, I don’t mean this in a sarcastic way, but do you have background in music theory? Was going through your channel and saw you play and sing. Pretty cool stuff btw
@@ZEDZDead2 no, I don’t have a music background, I’m just a lifelong fan and grew up in the classic rock era and have seen a lot of bands live (not Pink Floyd). I supplement that with Google and Wiki for years/dates info or specifics I’m unsure about. I’m also female not a guy. The videos on my channel are a dude that was on American Idol a few years ago and I caught part of a live stream he did. He’s super talented and was not a typical Idol contestant. Originally from Nepal, his name is Dibesh Pokharel but he also writes and records under the name Arthur Gunn. He sings in Nepali and in English. I’d recommend a couple of thing to start if you want to check him out. Look for his American Idol audition of Have You Ever Seen the Rain (originally by CCR - Credence Clearwater Revival) which he sings right after an obscure Bob Dylan song. Be very careful if you use the original footage or they will block it (you will have to blur it or lighten it and stop a few times. The other song is a music video for his original song called Pralaya. That one is in Nepali. Don’t worry about not understanding the lyrics, it’s the kind of song you feel. If you like what you hear by DP/AG I can direct you to other songs. Just beware, if the Nepali’s find your channel they’ll start requesting other artists. There’s tons of other classic rock to get into. There’s a few of us that follow you that can make suggestions depending on what kind of styles you want to check out. Some of it is overdone by reactors but a ton of it never seems to get any hype.
It is very dark indeed. This is actually a part of The Wall movie, which is like a movie musical for the whole album. The movie also uses animation to tell the album's story. The ringing phone at the end leads into a new song/scene.
I am about a decade younger than the members of Pink Floyd, however it did feel like we were growing up in the shadow of WW2. There were some teachers that had poor regard for the students, I believe some were themselves damaged by the war. A lot would try to humiliate a kid in front of their peers, there was no shortage of dark sarcasm. School was like a sausage factory, individuality was seen as rebellion. School meals were as described... Of course the video is an extreme caricature but I do recognise much of the influence (I am an Englishman). The phone ringing is the prequel to the next track in the film....
That makes so much sense seeing the timeline. Makes me wonder if after the Russian Ukraine war, how the soldiers going home will affect their countries. That 70s show had this dude name red and he was from the war, I remember him always being a jerk. I guess some work you take home.
Number 1: while we all love your TS reactions I am very glad you are branching out to other music. There is so much good music out there. Number 2: I love how you are reacting and then going into the deep dive for those people who don't wanna watch the deep dives. I'm all in for your deep dives though. Not a huge Pink Floyd fan but I can appreciate it. Korn did a remake of this song.
This song is iconic. Check out High Hopes from their album The Division Bell. It’s a much later album. The production is phenomenal. A completely different sound but also an experience. And the lyrics are great. Would love to hear your thoughts….in between more Taylor of course. 😂
The Album the wall is more of a Rock Opera. Trust me. One of the very, if not THEE very best Progressive Rock group is Pink Floyd. Listen to Time from the Album Dark side of the Moon then, jump down that rabbit hole that is Pink Floyd. You won’t regret it.
The album itself is pretty much Roger Waters auto biography with music by David Gilmore. Roger's dad was killed at Anzio when Roger was only 5 months old, making his mother a very protective war widow. After WW2, England treated the poor war widows very badly and their kids even worse......the ruling class, which included the teachers, considered the poor families to be an unwanted blight on the country and its future.
Are you saying that Dio was the original rocker ? That any of Dio's songs have influenced the whole library of ROCK ? GET AN EDUCATION , you currently think TIME only started after your own birth. Dio had the best ROCK voice and potential i have ever heard, but that's all he had. His lack of performance understanding kept him in the musical realm of better than average, but thats all. Many real ROCK STARS , singers , writers, musicians, arrangers and managers had lived and died before Dio was even born. English rock and blues legend , Long John Baldry, once said that there hadnt been a descent rock song written since the early 1970's......and in the 1980's, he was right.
The woke students of today wouldn't survive school in the UK in the 60s or 70s. Even the slightest complaint or chat back at the teacher could result in 6 of the belt or cain. Got banned before it affected me thankfully. Cool reaction to the best band ever in my opinion. Please listen to more bands like this instead of children's music like Taylor Swift lol
Thanks Paul. Appreciate it! Yeah I don’t blame you, probably not for everyone. I started just listening to a bunch of things I normally wouldn’t and find that I really like her writing, and music caught me off guard. But yeah, so far PF is dope, someone recommend Comfortably Numb will need to check that out.
It's always bothered me that the nasty teacher is Scottish. Then again, he seems to he far from home, in London.😅. The Wall is not my favourite PF album, though it does contain 2 or 3 of my favourite PF songs! Edit. If you're spending a lot of time on Taylor Swift, i wont be subbing.
That pretty cool that Europeans can tell where someone is from based on accent. Some can even tell which street, which is wild to me. Yeah honestly I’ve avoided a lot of different music and this is just my journey on trying new things, there’s probably going to be a lot of random song so I don’t blame you. but I do appreciate the convo!

Funk. You were thinking of Funk, not Disco, lol. Doesn't matter, though, Pink Floyd can play it all. Best band ever. Enjoyed your reaction.
That’s the word! Haha thanks Eric
you have to listen full concept album the wall - brilliant reaction
You can see clearly know you saw this shit.....its going to be a bright, sun shiney day.....🎶🎼🎼
