If it's an incompatibility with your graphics card, you should be able to confirm it by unchcking use gpu in preferences so you are processing using just your cpu. If that's the case, an update down the road will probably take care of it.

I used to use gen fill to remove skin blemishes, like larger scars or stretch marks but now instead of generating skin it tries to add items to the skin, like jewels or buttons or other weird stuff. I preferred the previous version

Anthony, thanks for the updates on the update. You and I must have had our iMacs built on the same bench. After watching this, I attempted to remove someone from a picture on both my MBP and iMac. I got the same results that you did. I guess the wait for a bug fix has already begun.

The basic remove tool has been driving me nuts for the past couple of weeks. Simple tasks, like removing marks or scratches from old negative scan Tifs and I'm getting crash after crash, with the warning that Photoshop encountered a problem and needs to close, totally unpredictably. I've taken to saving the image every 2 or 3 'removes and it's a pure pain. Welcome to the 1990s Adobe.

The problem with video controllers these days isn't just in Adobe Photoshop. The sharpening & noise reduction software, Topaz, has an equal issue. When your video card doesn't have at least 6GB of memory, subject selection is broken. It doesn't select the subject, but the selection is scattered around the whole picture. Kind of same in Photoshop which can't select the people in the picture.
Had to update my hardware for Topaz and Photoshop. Well, my 2012 machine was kind of due for renewal. 🙂

Oh thanks for this .... for a couple of reasons .... as usual your information is excellent and so well presented. The Second reason .... the street image you used .... I immediately said hey, I know that place! It's the corner of Prescott and Gower Streets looking towards the Harbour in St. John's Newfoundland, Canada. I am not from the Rock but you always remember downtown St' John's. Thanks for that also!

Anthony, I have a 2020 iMac with a Radeon graphics that compatibility problems with Denoise leaving white squares on images. That was corrected with newest update. After watching your video I tried removing people in a scene in Photoshop like you demonstrated and voila "Don't see any people " We fix one thing and break another.

I love that you show the Gen fill in videos but don’t use it in real life. And I totally understand because even if it does a good job of building something in the image the restriction of the resolution to1024x1024 is a deal killer for me because I print my images for the most part. Other products are bringing out similar AI functions but nevertheless the resolutions are too low to be useful. I think a Shakespeare quote fits this - "much to do about nothing"

About removing people. I've just found a solution. You need to go to “Preferences=>Image processing” and there in the item “Remove tool processing” set “More stable”. Restart Photoshop.
    Hope this helps someone.

Anthony I've been using the remove tool for awhile now and love it. Adobe has also improved it and this new one that identifies and selects according to the setting. However I have a Win11 PC with 32GB of RAM and plenty of disk space. My GPU is updated. However this new update is buggy and crashing. Not good.

I don't use generative AI either, but I do know that on each of the options it gives you, there's an ellipses button that offers you a thumbs up, thumbs down, and ... remove, I think? That theoretically helps PS learn what you're looking for.

I had an issue a couple days ago with the new updates. I sent an LR classic edited photo to PS and used the power line feature and it worked great. However when I sent it back to LR classic the power lines were still there. I decided to export it from LR and lo and behold the power lines were gone. Using Mac Studio M1.

Another big issue with the generative AI for things like extending the image, and sometimes adding elements, is that the resolution doesn't match. You can see it here especially on the dog's butt. Look at the resolution and texture on the added part vs. the original.

Noticed that too. Even when you select the "grey" sky and have a generated fill, the area out of the selection is altered too. Found that out while editing a picture of a mountain range. Wanted to change the sky ... and the mountains, out of the selection, changed too.

Your issue with removal of people occurred with me. I was in France this past April and I took a shot with several people and in May when I was working on my photo book I used Photoshop beta and it did a good job of removing the people from the scene. After listing to your recent video I went back and tried using Photoshop 2025 and it did a terrible job. It removed the people but the background was awful compared to the beta version which did a good job. Go figure.

When you want to remove people (or powerlines), you also have the option "Auto", "Ai on" or "Ai off". Try one of the other option, the results are different. Sometimes "AI on" doesn't give you the best result, I noticed. Hope it helps you to get the best result.

I suspect I have a similar issue. With the latest updates, I can’t run ACR 17.0 either as a raw editor or as a filter in PS. It says ACR require GPU acceleration to run. All acceleration is turned on. I can run all the Lightroom apps just fine. So I assume the differences between ACR 17.0 and Lr are the culprits of this anomaly. Keen to hear if anybody else is experiencing similar issues. I’m running a PC Laptop with Nvidea Quadro 1000 graphics card.

      Hi Uncle Dobby,
I had a problem with a Nvidea Geforce 850, 4GB memory, like your Quadro 1000. The problem occured in Topaz Photo AI. The GPU had too less memory. Topaz minimum requirements stated at least 6GB VRam in the Video controller card. I feel same is coming into Photoshop and other graphic software.
Upgraded my hardware to a Nvidea with 12GB memory.

@@johnnydegruyter4553 thanks John, unfortunately I’m running a laptop. Not always easy to upgrade the video RAM in a laptop. I detest when a software update dictates my need to upgrade my gear.

@@UncleDobby Well, in my case it's a desktop I assembled myself. No option to upgrade to Win11 (Win10 support ending next year october), and didn't want to run latest update of photoshop and my video controller had insufficient memory. So, it was a case of and, and, and, ... for me.
The "old" pc was from 2012.
But ... indeed, suddenly our faithful pc's do not match the new requirements.
With a laptop it's even worse ... no much option for upgrading.
And VRam on a video controller, even on a desktop, you can't upgrade. Have to buy a new expensive video controller.

Anthony, I love your work bit I am so tired of watching EVERYONE'S video about the new features ESPECIALLY the wire removal tool! Who gives a fà&k about wire removal??? It's a cool feature but there are SO MANY things Adobe could have focused on. Wire removal??? Seriously? How many pro photographers are making the huge mistake of taking important photos with dozens and dozens of wires in the foreground? Rant over! 😮

  • @stevejarvis186

Hi Mr Morganti. I know that you only get 500 Generative credits per month on The Photography Plan, but you should be able to claim back from Adobe the garbage ones that this AI produces, i.e there ought to be a button to reject any `duds` and they then don`t come out of your monthly credit.

    • @larsmichael7162
      @larsmichael7162 2 дня назад +1

I never ran into an actual limitation from that limit of “free” credits, and I might use 50 generations or even more on a single image.
Now, as for version 25, I went back to 24.12 because the “better” gerative AI results were inferior on the first several images I tried them on. There just isn’t realistic similarity to the surrounding pixels.

    • @stevejarvis186
      @stevejarvis186 2 дня назад

@larsmichael7162 if you google what the limitations are, it will tell you the number for the plan that you are on.

@@larsmichael7162 If you Google it you'll find out how many free credits you get for the plan that you're on. For The Photography Plan, which is the one I`m on, its 500 per month. I have not however, been able to find an answer as to how much you pay for additional AI generative credits, once you've used your free ones up, perhaps Mr Morganti might be able to answer that one for us!

Your catch line got me in, because as far as I'm concerned there is a lot wrong with this new version! Crop tool has crashed...unusable! The magic erase has gone from good to way weird! If you have an image that fills say half your canvas and it has a minor blemish on it? You select a small brush and paint it. Next thing that happens is it replaces your entire blank canvas section with weird stuff! I think I will be doing a youtube on everything WRONG with photoshop 2025! It should go viral and I hope people stop subscribing because it's the worst update in Adobe history!

    • @pauleasther
