    I use to own a scag 32 inch for about 10 years, I sold it for a toro commercial 21 inch because my yard isn’t that big . I’m thinking of going back to a 32 inch cut and getting the Ferris FW 15 seems like a nice machine. Good review 🇺🇸

    Nice to hear that not even once did you say it wasnt worth the price these cost, that speaks volumes to me, i could do %90 of my lawns with one of these 32" , i never bought the Toro ones after i heard about the transmissions and $2800 can be worth it if the machine holds together for a decade instead of a season and a half like the Toro's do.

    Bud, I was finally able to get gator blades for my fw15. Started with Oregon 396-716. They have the carbide edge (g6). Take 'em to a machine shop along with an old blade and they can punch out the holes to match. They are much better than the factory wavy mulch blades (those had no lift at all). Can really cover more ground before the bagger is full and best of all it picks up acorns and sticks way better.

      @@thepetesmith I’m still using my 28in world lawn. When I was cutting grass before becoming a landlord, I only had one property with a steep hill. It performed like a normal walk behind, the rear would slide down a little more than the front. The machine is easy to handle and for the price I couldn’t beat it. I paid around 1200. Now as a landlord, I use it to cut extremely tall grass. It’s a tank and will go through anything. I’ve owned the world lawn for around 10 years. I like the Ferris in the video but can’t justify the cost.

    Btw, I know you were running quite a bit of the Craftsman 19.2 tools in your handyman business. I have plenty of the 19.2 tools, and I'm about to start doing more handyman work in addition to lawn care. I wasnt able to get my hands on a caster model, but as i mentioned on a comment on another of your videos, i purchased mine new at only $2000.
    My only complaint is the "go handle"... ill call it that.... When i turn, the little foam rubber grips always grab my shirt, and twist it around my torso lol. Im constantly pulling my shirt from around the end of it, and straightening it out on my body. Its actually ripping holes in some older shirts

    Hey Bud, I’m actually considering buying the Fw15. Also looking at the FW25 used about 3 years old with 30 hours on it or $4500. Seems a little high though. May go with the FW15. Any idea if the cut of the 15 improves while side discharging and using the high lift blades and removing the deflector? I read somewhere that the cut quality improved quite a bit in this configuration

    • @HandyGuy2016
      @HandyGuy2016  4 года назад

      Yes, it does cut best in that configuration. In my experience, mulch kits require slower speed and better conditions to get the ideal cut and finish. This mower cuts great with the mulch kit, but if you don't need or want to mulch remove the baffle and let it eat!

    Question about the speed control; the bar on the handle engages the drive and the lever on the panel controls the speed. Is the bar just an on/off switch? In other words, does pressing on the bar in any amount fully engage the drive wheels or does it go faster or slower depending on how far you depress the bar, with the lever acting as a max speed limiter?

      Something might be too tight? Is the spring loaded pull pin stuck? Did you try slightly lifting up on the handle bar, or pushing down while pulling the pin?

    Ferris FW 15 is by far the most expensive wide area walk behind mower on the market.. Sure, it's 32" vs the standard 30" but I don't see that price difference when comparing it to Exmark 30" or a Turfmaster for example.

    • @HandyGuy2016
      @HandyGuy2016  3 года назад

      The price could definitely be more competitive, but it will be worth it in longevity if it outlasts Toro 30" mowers. I'm on my 3rd season with no issues so far.

    Just used my FW15 for the first time today. Have read a few comments about caster issues which appears to affect some of the original units. I just brought mine but its motor is dated 01/19 so maybe its been sitting around. I noticed some cut quality issues where each line cut doesn't match its stepped. Checked the blades and such. The only thing I can figure is one of the casters sits a little higher than the other. Maybe adding weight would help. Just curious if you've seen any of those kind of issues with height from line to line matching. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Guys, that review these mowers I have yet to see someone tell me if the blade system is a timed or independent. If it's timed like that goofy Toro it's too dangerous. Iam guessing it has 2 blades would've been nice showing underneath and talking about the blades instead of talking about the height adjusters and bagging. I have a Foley Quad Cut that has 4 8 inch blades from 1961 with a cast Aluminum deck 32 inch wide makes my yard looking like a golf course and can go through 8 inches if grass without bogging down I'll put this mower up against this or any other mower on the market!
