Great video. Mine has 156 hours and loving it. I have 5 acres and use the FW 15 on about an acre, use Kubota ZD 331 on the rest. I put a light film of oil on the drive chain.
@@HandyGuy2016 I have a lot of trees and driveway curbing. Takes about 3 hours, but at 75 years old I'm not moving as fast as a younger man. Good exercise.
Just got mine new for a great price. Have to remember let it do the work. Several time i kept trying to push it, not being used to a self propelled mower. Does well on my hilly lawn. 3/4 of an acre took about 1 hour with the slopes. Built to last a lifetime.
Hey Man, love the FW15 content. I am only a homeowner, but I take care of two properties, and have always enjoyed yardwork. I just got a Ferris fw15 as a machine that I hope will last me many years. So far I love it and marvel at how well it is built. After watching your videos, I appreciate how clean you keep your equipment, and I would like to do the same. What’s your process for keeping your equipment as clean as you do? Could you make a video on that?
I was told by my dealer when I picked up mine- most all Honda's have a float bowl carb- you need to shut off the gas on the carb so it doesn't fill the crankcase while it is bouncing around in your trailer. keep that chain lubed. raise the rear, spin the chain as you spray the sides of the chain. I use a vacuum canister (purchased at harbor freight, holds 10 qts). to remove the oil- no need to even bother with that oil drain plug. biggest complaint is that puny gas tank. they built a package to fit dimensions, not run time. an engine that size deserves an oil filter. (again built to spec dimensions). best damn commercial push mower ever built. imho.
@@donalddavis3308 should be on the carb right below the choke on some models. follow the fuel line into the carb. typically a black handle. it pivots-- not a pull handle.
Thanks for the video. Does it do good in wet grass with mulch kit installed. Anything you don’t like about the mower. Been looking at these for awhile now. Thank you. Eric.
Wet grass is not ideal mowing conditions, but we all have to do it sometimes. That being said, the deck will have to be cleaned out more often in wet grass. Other than that, nothing I don't like.
You ever have to change hydro fluid? How about your deck belt ? Ever have adjust it ? Had to take mine back to dealer today had to tighten it . No dip stick for hydro fluid
Hey When I bought the Fw 15 new the idle runs back and forth high and low but runs fine when cutting Is that your experience with your machine? Sort of like the engine does on a tiller or something The dealer said that was normal
I order Amsoil 10w30 Full synthetic , For a house less than a half acre you just do it before restoring for the winter 🥶 oil , filter and spark ⚡️ plug :) that’s what I’m going to do :)
I read a few reviews on the FW15 that they witnessed uneven or stepped cutting with it? I guess what they’re saying is that maybe they think one blade is lower than the other? Have you witnessed any uneven cutting with yours?
Have you found a good source for replacement air filter. I ordered one from Amazon but what I ordered was wrong. I can’t seem to find anything on a complete filter with outer foam together that resembles the one that came with the unit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Bud, I see on this vid you don't have the updated front end. Complete New design forks. Reinforced and triangular braces prevents the king pins from tipping or moving. Warranty.
That is correct. I have not had any issues with mine, and I have spoken with my dealer and can have it updated if I want to. I'm probably not going to have it updated unless I have an issue.
I have to choke my FW15 to restart even though I have been running it for an hour. I also added the Drainzit hose otherwise it was a mess! A hose should have been factory like my Gravely had. Anyone know if they are going to have or know where I can get an aftermarket larger gas tank? A half gallon tank on a mower like this is an engineered flaw.
Good tip on elevating the rear tires and leaning the back for deck maintenance 👍

Just curious, how long does it take to mow an acre?

The number one thing is blowing everything off at the end of the day and storing it in inside. That's my not so secret, secret.

I will check the manual, but I believe it is a sealed Hydro case. I have not had to adjust or replace any belts yet.
@@HandyGuy2016 I looked online says it’s maintenance free hard to believe you never need to change the fluid
Ok, that is what I was thinking. Should last a long time.

Mine does that a little bit when I first start it. Try adjusting your choke lever just a little bit and see if it evens out
@@HandyGuy2016 thank you for the tip
Any tips on belt maintenance on this machine? We just bought one used and I'm wanting to be sure the belts are solid.
They are maintenance free other than keeping debris cleaned out.
Ever had to replace the bearings on the drive wheels or the axle assembly?
Negative

No uneven cutting with mine. First time I have heard of that issue.
Never had that problem.

Donald Davis this is good to know thank you
Cut with mine for first time today. .75 acres will slopes. Clean an even cut.
That looks awesome good explanation

Nope, it's sealed.

Why a 32 mower like this and not a stander? I might prefer a 32 belt with a sulkee??
Big price difference, weight difference, and trailer space. I had a belt drive 36" and I don't want one again.
How much oil does it take
Explain to me why their is no oil filter?
Engines this size usually don't have one.

I agree on the gas tank and the drain hose. Mine is the same on starting, as I understand it the gas does not sit in the carb when it's not running.
@@HandyGuy2016 Thanks for that info on the carb!
Thanks so much for the video..
Definitely 👍

Check the gas level, gas shutoff, and choke.

No hour meter on a machine of this cost is poor design. To have an hour maintenance schedule and no meter is just plain dumb.
I agree
I'm guessing you have never had to adjust or replace the belts on the FW15. What a poor design!
