Damn this video was good. I’d heard of the Animator’s Survival Kit before and have intended to read it for a long time now, but now I’ll get so much more out of it. Thanks good sir. You’ve earned yourself a sub.
Knowing how to draw is a great starting point. If you want to learn hand drawn animation, reading The Animator's Survival Kit is the perfect next step for you to take. It will guide you from the basics to a thorough understanding of animation mechanics.
@@intoanimation Thank you SO much for answering this. Also just to be sure by hand drawn you mean drawing from the beginning on each frame.Does it HAVE to be on paper to be hand drawn or can it be used in animation software? Sorry if this sounds silly😅
No problem at all. I use the term "hand drawn" to mean either drawn on paper or drawn frame-by-frame, digitally, within animation software. The process and principles used are identical. Obviously, the book will not give you any software specific knowledge but that's easy enough to pick up elsewhere.

Thanks so much! The book is well worth a read and I hope you get as much out of it as I have.

I only know how to draw. Can I learn how to animate without any knowledge in the expanded version?
