“I’ve had to let go of crutches to really learn that I can walk. I really don’t need the perks of a high paying job, to find happiness.” I felt that in my soul! Reminds me of this book entitled “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin, that was recommended to me. Now I recommend it to you.

There once lived in Greece a holy man Elder Paisios (died in 1994). During his life he developed his relationship with God really strong and was gifted with all kinds of spiritual gifts. He could answer people's questions before they would ask him. Hundreds of people would visit him everyday. One time atheist guy asked him: What good monks do out in the desert? And why dont they go into the world and help people?? -Monks are the church's signalmen. When they make contact with God through prayer.. Then God comes and helps even more than had the monk been working in the world. One more riffle man was usless, but when the airforce got there...the battle was won.

neurologically, it's all about dopamine and seratonin. sensory pleasures give short term gratification dopamine "hits" (i think that's why pot is called "dope", ha!). Western societal values is all about these dopamine hits. conversely, seratonin (i.e. "serene" seratonin is how i remember it) provides long term joy, peace, gentleness... seratonin is cultivated by interacting with positive people, connecting with nature, cultivating the inner life through meditation (loving-kindness towards self and all beings), and leads to truth, beauty and goodness...

Sometimes I wonder why we are here on this Earth & then we all die at the end. Our destination is death, what's our purposes here on Earth; we thrive to have have a better, happier life for ourselves & our families/ kids. being successful in financially & socioeconomically, having all the luxuries & then we all going to die anyways. I'm a very positive & vibrant individual person but I can't help it, sometimes I have those feeling & it's doesn't make sense. First we're a baby, toddler, pre-teen, teenager, done with school in early 20's to mid 20's and then married kids around that age or in 30's, then middle, then golden age the die. That's normally the process of our lives. Nothing interesting. If I wasn't got married & didn't have kids, I probably want to be a monk too but being a spouse & a parent I feel obligated to fulfill my duty

Try reading bhagavad Gita . You are searching for permanent happiness which does not exist in this world. You are eternal soul changing bodies one life after another. When you will eventually realize God as your goal , you will try and attain him. This world is temporary nothing it worthwhile here because all situations here are standing on shaky ground.

Let me relate my experience with the Taoist deities, or gods, ( in our Chinese Toaist religion, heavenly beings, who do the duties to care n help people are call Gods, king of heavens ,we call him, the Jade emperor of heavens)
I am Singaporean, but there was a time I was living in Malaysia. I was very fortunate to come across a Toaist Temple, which had Gods coming to cure illness for us people. I asked the same question, what purpose coming to earth. The reply.....we humans coming to earth are to cultivate a spiritual life, and so able to go a higher spiritual realm. He also said.... The highest order are Buddhas. In heavens, there millions of Buddhas and their powers are limitless. Even Gods are cultivating to become Buddhas. He himself ,though a deity in heavens was still cultivating to achieve Buddha stage.
After understanding the truth, I became a Buddhist.
I also learnt that Shakyamuni Buddha was actually a Bodhisattva in Nirvana, he felt compassion for the world, so he chose to be reborn, so to lead us out of Samsara. ( note.. Buddhas have escape rebirth, unless they want to be reborn)
Hope my spiritual experiences with hevenly Toaist deities or Gods, will help people to have a better understanding on purpose of life on earth.
Note.. in Toaism religion, we have mediums to connect to the heavenly spirits.

In the Name of Allaah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful.
May Peace and Blessings be upon the sincere searcher of truth.
The True Originator of the Seven Heaven's and Earth and all in between sent Prophets and Messengers starting from the first man Adam to the seal and final Prophet Muhammad with one main message to the nations and people and that is there is No True God worthy of being worshipped except Allaah Exalted and Most High. Jesus was a Messenger of Allaah and his real name was Eesa ibn Mariam. The Qur'an is a confirmation of what came before it and is the real speech uncreated by man from the Lord of the Universe. Indeed Glorified is he above associated partners in worship to whom we will return on the Day of Resurrection when the Judgement shall take place for mankind.
