In Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic and Tails continue to thwart the plans of Dr. Robotnik, this time on the Floating Island that is guarded by Knuckles the Echidna.
This run is longer than the predecessor movie ( tasvideos.org/... ) in movie length due to using Sonic only, but has a shorter in-game time.
We also have similar movies in Sonic the Hedgehog ( tasvideos.org/... ), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ( tasvideos.org/... ) and Sonic the Hedgehog CD ( tasvideos.org/... ).
And also we have runs with Amy ( tasvideos.org/... ), Knuckles ( tasvideos.org/... ), Tails ( tasvideos.org/... ), Knuckles ring attack ( tasvideos.org/... ), Sonic 100% ( tasvideos.org/... ), Knuckles 100% ( tasvideos.org/... ), Competition mode ( tasvideos.org/... ) and Sonic and Tails on NewGame+ ( tasvideos.org/... ).

The downloadable encodes in the second set use a camhack, which attempts to always keep Sonic onscreen and puts HD sprites on top of the background to make the TAS look even better.

I love the irony that you took one of the most notoriously long zones and simply removed one of its acts from existence
They did that TWICE, as of the point (the beginning of Launch Base) I am watching in the video. (I was going to ask if it was Hydrocity Zone first.)

I have never seen a video game become physically exhausted before
This poor game has been getting destroyed for so many years by the speedrunning community. This TAS is so much different from the ones I used to see ten years ago and it looks like they're breaking the game harder than I've ever seen it before. I'm amazed this whole video went on and on without a single crash.

It’s implied that knuckles has a whole system of teleporters around angel island, I don’t think it would be a problem for him to get where he needs to be before sonic gets there

I'm telling y'all, this is how Sonic canonically goes through his games (Without the glitches, and with Tails, except Sonic 1 8-bit and 16-bit and Sonic CD). I'm also imagining how from the characters in-universe perspective how this would work. Imagine the look of horror Eggman would give you from you telling him Sonic is going to arrive inside the Death Egg in just 32 minutes.

I love the original sega version. The sounds would be so crisp and the sounds would drop out and when the music fades certain instruments would go out too. Love that.

I know about the start from fresh SRAM rule, but usually you can soft reset to skip various cutscenes and save time.
The death egg boss fights were definitely the highlight of the run

Put the video in 480p and sonic's run/jump animations get glitched, which makes them look better imo. Less a blur and more of a high-speed concentrated roll which I think helps in the psychological aspect of things.

It's a way to show sonic on screen when he's warping or zipping so people can see more of the run

dude its just glitching and ziping through the colisions of the game, its very simple, but you need to be very precise when doing the impults, TAS is everything frame perfect, so this is what hapens when you do frane perfect something.
@@melphy-kyunp2903 Yeah, obviously. I just don't know how they did things such as making monitors appear under the floor and skipping entire bosses.
@@palaceswitcher oh the monitors are the graphics glitching,going into the floor is a lot easier in Hidrocity 2 and Marble Garden 1, the ice cap is a bit dificult, bit you can check on A + Start channel on the Son of a Glitch playlist, he shows how it works and how to do most of them
