Disney has come to such a low point in writing that I actually prefered this movie as a "live action" cause in that way we can relate it´s story just to the 2019 remake and not to the original
Disney would never bring 2D animation back simply for the purpose that the executives, producers and CEO can't pocket the quarter of the budget for themselves and not have anyone notice it. Live action is loved by hollywood and respected not because it's a higher quality, it's because its dumb cheap along with CGI.
The actual reason is that 2d animation is VERY expensive and VERY hard to do, okay trough boards but on paper, thats hard now, animators nowdays lack the skill to animate full on animations that were drawn on paper. Plus 2d apartments dont exist anymore as they entered on history. Another ghing that contributes the reason why its not 2d is that original animated already has zillion of versions of mufasa and scars childhood, one being actual is tale of two brothers realased in 1994 where scar got his scar by an angry buffalo, another version suggested he got it by his father beacuse he was weak and third and most famous version is that he got it by the cobra in the lion guard wich is to me stupid. Honestly its an W move beacuse adding another version of their backstory even animated in 2d audience will STILL be mad and dissapointed why did they get all of the sudden backstory change and IF IT WAS 2D people would still argue abt sonic vs mufasa, so making live action for live action universe feels genuelly right since as we said audience nowdays is very picky, toxic and selfish and would still hate it beacuse of story change in original lore, so addint distinctive lore for live action universe is an right move to do. I adore this new movie and ever since live action lion king 2019 i adored it more how lines there perfectly match what happened back then and we get clear view why scar was flirting with sarabi so much. Im really exited for this movie to come in my local cinema so i watch it! Deffinetly worth a watch! ALSO FIN FACT, scar and mufasa WERENT suppose to be brothers at all in original, but were made bros so it would be more entertaining and more focus on arc, but seems like they went for original concept wich i personally think its awesome As said, i cant wait to see this, i adore lion king and this spiced up the lore AND IF ANY OF SONIC FANS WILL COMMENT THAT IM STUPID THAT IM PAID BY DISNEY AND THAT I DONT HAVE A TASTE, ill report it IMMIDIETLY!
Im sorry but no, thats just the excuse executives WANT us to believe. HAND-DRAWN animation is very hard to do. But 2D animation doesn't = hand drawn on individual papers like ye olden days. 2D animation is possibly even easier than 3D due to the fact there's less physical factors to keep aware of, you don't need to worry about each individual hair and can play with the shapes. It's very simple, just look at how many young teens make very impressive 2D animations for free every year as they learn more and more on fun ways to do it. The only reason 2D is more expensive is because the 2D animators unionized and forced them to be legally required to properly pay them for their hard work. 3D artists haven't done that yet and thus are technically considered inexpensive since they aren't legally required a standard pay for their hard work. This is also why when you see some 2D animation shows/movies today, it's usually got a shadow of people who were fired and replaced so that the companies could weasel their way out of paying them full price of a movie's worth of animation. It depends where they're from but 2D would actually be easier and less expensive if not for the fact, at least in America, 2D animators stood up for themselves and said they should be paid better- especially during those hand drawn days.
Disney shouldn't be going for their Live Action niche anyways because it WILL set them back on how they're remembered by the new generation vs what they set themselves up to be. The realistic approach isn't what people would prefer, no kid is asking to see these characters look like actual animals. This push for live action ends up not being for anyone because no one asks for this. Sonic's original movie design is a good example for that, that was an attempt at realism and it failed because it just wasn't sonic. Now, with a more cartoony yet styled realistically look, Sonic is more visually appealing! Disney's live action takes away the magic of Disney as the characters aren't expressive in their pursuit of being realistic. Disney's whole thing is that its supposed to be a magical land of make believe, so them pushing for realism is out of place. But that may just be my bias. But if it's a sonic vs Mufasa thing that you worry of, I feel Mufasa going back to 2D animation would've made it more striking against sonic and more of a pull. "Disney's going back to 2D animation?! This is 2D animated?! Omg!! Disney hasn't done that in ages!!!" It could've been considered a neat flashback thing in a way and we'd see it transition to realism as we see it was Zazu telling us what happened back then, idk, maybe thats corny. And already, the voice acting sounds very flat unfortunately, which doesn't help the already not very expressive animation. There's only so much that the animators can express on a realistic animal before it looks uncanny and people judge it. Both movies have their issues, but Disney's live actions just...aren't very good objectively. They don't have as much soul and emotion as they would if they kept to a more cartoony style + magic. If they kept the 3D change but had more expressive, cartoony style, then they'd be pushed to have more expressive voice actors. Details like that push for things to fall into place nicely, ya know? Imagine how much better this would be if the animals were animated to look like 3D versions of the 2D artstyle, that'd be so cool! And that'd give Disney so much more wiggle room for how they express the characters! I've seen people make models like that and it's the most gorgeous thing ever
I haven't seen the new Mufasa Movie yet. I have my doubts, but I agree. Disney needs to bring back the art form in some way. Heck, even if they wanted to continue with computer animation, having at least one or two 2d animated projects sprinkled into their slate would be refreshing.
Besides being a constrained style and lacking expressive features, live action “animated” movies lack two important features that make them attractive to audiences; lighting and design. By looking at the Lion King 2019 and Mufasa 2024 movies, I’ve noticed a complete lack of mood lighting. Sure they show up in key parts, but the movies are so focused on making the scenes “true to life” that it make everything on screen look… gray. Monotone. A photograph taken right as the sun is overhead so it washes out any and all vibrancy. Mood lighting dictates, well, the mood of the scene. It can tell the audience how the characters feel about it (happy, sad, etc) and how we as the viewer can interpret its meaning. And before someone says “well it’s just a kids movie” I want to point out that mood lighting is important for ALL films, and besides that, using the excuse that kids films can’t use higher critical thinking to create something meaningful to its audience, then you might as well make the kid watch paint dry. If you add just a smidge of yellow overlay to a scene, you can make certain elements stand out, such as Mufasa’s golden fur and how he’s like the sun (optimistic, strong, warm). If the scene used red lighting and shadows, it can make the scene feel tense and suspenseful, especially if it’s a fight scene where the odds don’t look good for the hero. As for design, like I mentioned before, live action, especially photorealism tries to make things look… realistic. The Lion King 2019 suffered because of this, having characters that all looked indistinguishable from each other and no facial expressions. Part of what makes this story work better in animation is because the 1994 film used distinct character designs where you could easily pick out their blackened silhouette. They had unique color pallets and patterns that made it easier to identify them. Would you be able to identify the difference between Peter Griffin and Homer Simpson if they both were drawn using the same base and dressed in the same clothes? Making your characters look unique is just as integral to who they are as their personality and dynamics with other characters. Also, unique designs can reflect who the character is, such as having them dress the way they feel (I.E. an adventurous character might dress in overalls and T-shirts compared to ballroom attire). In the case of animal characters specifically, they can have whatever designs you can think of-Snoopy the dog is black and white, but still registers as a beagle despite only being black and white, unlike my beagle who has brown mixed in there. The Lion King remake could’ve made the character color palettes stand out and still register as “realistic” so long as they’re not neon yellow or whatever. Anyway sorry for my yapping. This is just a discussion I’m thoroughly passionate about…
Sometimes i think its just the story their telling its not always what they use to tell that story although that can help a lot too. I am all for animation and want to see it succeed but Disney is not telling good enough stories or branching out to find unidque styles or experiement with what they have learned over the years. We've seen so many new modern animations that have branched out away from the tradition 2D and 3D formate even combining the 2 in a unique way. Some movies I love for this is Spider-man spider verse movies, Arcane, Klaus, Puss in Boots Last Wish (it was old characters but ccreated in a fresh style still staying Nostalic to the old movies), even Stop Motion Movies can be fantastic as well and can tell unique stories like Coraline, Kubo and the Two Strings, Isle of Dogs. Disney doesnt like to branch out or try new things as soon as something fails instead of trying to understand why it fail, is it that form of style they use or is it their story telling, Each movie is different ofc but if they put effert into making something successful for both a great story with great animation of any variety they could really make a lot from that and it ha been proven by other companies who have done that and even smaller indipended studios. I love see creativitiy being shown on screen I want to see amazing story telling filled with adventure, love, darkness, light, death, vulnerability and stregnth through the characters and you can show a lot of that through a good story telling and its something Disney used to be good at too. I dont mind seeing their remakes but nothing much is being remade about it nothing new or fantastical is ever happening on the screen like the old films which are so filled with life and character. Many stories ae much better told through the different forms of animation. Its not jsut Disney either but a lot of western animation shows are very bland with their animations too its very stiff and blocky with no trace of creativity. I'm not against realism either there are filth that do great for that like Lord of The Rings, Game of Thrones, The walking Dead, These shows and movies are fine because they bring unique elemnts into them that you wouldnt see in real life and still they blend well together in their own worlds where as some of Disneys newer movies dont fit into their realistic themed worlds. A good example of this too is Snow white and the Huntsman compared to the new Snow White from Disney, Snow White and the Huntsman fit into the world that was created for them and everything around them looks like it belongs there but the CGI of Disney is too obvious in the wrong way. Narnia was an amazing movie as well and seeing Alsan compared to what the Lion King remake could have been much more improved on, it would have been nice to give the animals some scense of scale like the lions looking more noble, the elephants and giraffe looking more larger and taller with grace as they walked. They just look like animals when they could have looked like more then that since they have values and laws to live with in their world and kingdom. Mufasa looks more golden while scar looks more paler or sickly they could have added something more to their story, make scar grow evil over time making his appearnce look more dark and grusome as he become jealous of Mufasa his older brother leading him to be challanged and them fighting leading scar to lose but Mufasa having compasion for him letting him stay in the pride. A story between 2 brothers going down different paths in their life leading to a betrayal and a forgivness between them while one still grows bitter. Sorry if that was a lot to read I got carried away because i know they can do much more then what they have done in the past few years 😅
i feel like if they went back to 2D it wouldn't end up very good, i felt like even some of the older 2D movies were animated better than the newer ones in ways. it would probably be new and less experienced people and it just wouldn't be the same although i would still prefer it. one thing that didn't make any sense to me with Mufasa, is Taka's family. WHY would they make both parents seem to idolize him, WANT him to be king, excited and pushing for him to be king, AND NAME HIM TRASH. literally that's what taka means, it means GARBAGE. should have made the father ab*sive in ways, like " you were born weak, you'll never be able to be a good strong king, but we don't have a choice because you're all we got " could have done something else like maybe he had a real brother but he died, and Taka was all they were left with as a " replacement " while his mother still loving and encouraging him and the father being resentful and disappointed. idk i feel like having both his parents wanting him to be king seems weird with the chosen name lol, they could have done so much with that, so much that could have shaped his character to be how he was in the end, more that would have affected his resentment towards Mufasa, and his desire to be king to prove his father wrong. the change in scar's outlook and behavior felt like it changed way too quickly without showing much emotional motive, like the themes were there but it wasn't portrayed well
Honestly, I like it better as 3D simply because it lets the story kind of… be its own story in a way. It keeps it separate from the original, and kind of helps me keep it confined to a loose canon for the 3D films rather than messing with the one from the original film. Like. It’s an okay story, but I wouldn’t want it to be true in terms of the 1994 movie.
mufasa is okay, i can t say it is good or bad, if you want to get out of house for couple of hour, it work , or go to movie with your family or friend,. all it did make scars look good
I always choose 2D animation, but not in this case. I don't want them to ruin the real Lion King with their talentless, poorly written prequels and sequels. They can ruin the remake as much as they want.
the fact that Disney wants to buy Sonic is funny all because Sonic 3 is a hit worldwide wide I say Sega should buy Disney I say we petition signed by many people, with this cause. end of story Disney can say how hard they worked on this soulless cash-grab to a beloved animated movie classic of the 1990s. But we all know that this quote-on-quote "live-action" prequel was made out of corporate greed and heartless exploitation that uses nostalgia baiting to fool viewers into watching a mediocre movie. This film will likely flop as hard as Mufasa falling off the cliff in the original Lion King Walt Disney would be ashamed of them
Complaining about the media instead of the story in the first minute is a bit off the point. You want them to try an old way but poo poo certain ways the same as those denying 2D. So many rush to say 2D is for kids, but 3D is for grownups. How about we all focus on the story rather than how its fed to us? I get your point about monies and such, but dishing on a movie advertising as one thing for not bringin back another kind of thing is silly. I want handdrawn, animated stuff to have its place too, but lets not pretend that stories work well in multiple ways.

Just talking about aesthetics alone, the "Mufasa" movie looks great!
Just visually it is stunning!
There could’ve been 2D animated Lion King prequel movie focusing on Simba’s dad in the 2000’s!
I wish it had been 2d animation and focused on sole on sarabi
"How to train your dragon" shows that you can do CGI animals have ton of emotions if you don't insist on realism
Exactly! They delved right in to the strength of animation in those dragons
@@mythwest They did the amazing job.
Disney has come to such a low point in writing that I actually prefered this movie as a "live action" cause in that way we can relate it´s story just to the 2019 remake and not to the original
I can definitely see it that way, man I miss their simple yet powerful storylines they used to cook with
@@mythwestright? I mean the The Lion King 2 was a great expansion of universe for the animated one. This one just doesn’t seem to reach the same level

Mufasa 2d animated remake/adaption when 👀
Disney would never bring 2D animation back simply for the purpose that the executives, producers and CEO can't pocket the
quarter of the budget for themselves and not have anyone notice it. Live action is loved by hollywood and respected not because
it's a higher quality, it's because its dumb cheap along with CGI.
"live action"
lol right
The actual reason is that 2d animation is VERY expensive and VERY hard to do, okay trough boards but on paper, thats hard now, animators nowdays lack the skill to animate full on animations that were drawn on paper.
ALSO FIN FACT, scar and mufasa WERENT suppose to be brothers at all in original, but were made bros so it would be more entertaining and more focus on arc, but seems like they went for original concept wich i personally think its awesome
As said, i cant wait to see this, i adore lion king and this spiced up the lore AND IF ANY OF SONIC FANS WILL COMMENT THAT IM STUPID THAT IM PAID BY DISNEY AND THAT I DONT HAVE A TASTE, ill report it IMMIDIETLY!
It would be and I think it’s the perfect time to bring it back. Heck, having like a mini series in 2d on Disney plus would go hard
Scar's backstory is the same as Edwina Sharma from Bridgerton and that's so funny
Coming 2029 -
Mufasa 2: the Victorian Boogaloo
I really agree about the star wars part.. such a missed opportunity. Mufasa's story is meh....
Disney seems to have fallen into that habit unfortunately
@@mythwest Yeah
WHY would they make both parents seem to idolize him, WANT him to be king, excited and pushing for him to be king, AND NAME HIM TRASH. literally that's what taka means, it means GARBAGE. should have made the father ab*sive in ways, like " you were born weak, you'll never be able to be a good strong king, but we don't have a choice because you're all we got " could have done something else like maybe he had a real brother but he died, and Taka was all they were left with as a " replacement " while his mother still loving and encouraging him and the father being resentful and disappointed. idk i feel like having both his parents wanting him to be king seems weird with the chosen name lol, they could have done so much with that, so much that could have shaped his character to be how he was in the end, more that would have affected his resentment towards Mufasa, and his desire to be king to prove his father wrong. the change in scar's outlook and behavior felt like it changed way too quickly without showing much emotional motive, like the themes were there but it wasn't portrayed well
guys, the mufasa animation js great. so much more expressive
don't you dare call that live action shit animation ever again, live action is not animation
@@eeveefennecfox mufasa is animated and so was tlk 2019,, disney just labels it as “live action” because of how it looks. it’s still completely cgi
I can see that, it’s a way of acknowledging that this is an attempt at a modern addition, and provides a good dichotomy if it turns out bad
I'm not even bothered to watch anything new that is not anime becoz to me it's the superior method becoz anything you can draw is possible.
We are all going to see The Day the Earth Blew Up in the theaters, right??
mufasa is okay, i can t say it is good or bad, if you want to get out of house for couple of hour, it work , or go to movie with your family or friend,. all it did make scars look good
Making it hand drawn wouldn't change the crappy story that lessens the impact of the original film and ruins Scar as a villain
2D hand drawn MUSICAL
I take it you didn’t like that they cut tons of songs from the 2019 version lol
I always choose 2D animation, but not in this case. I don't want them to ruin the real Lion King with their talentless, poorly written prequels and sequels. They can ruin the remake as much as they want.
There are some awesome movies they could do in sketch, but this isn’t one of em.
Kiros is a better villain than 2019 Scar
i would rather watch prehistoric planet
the fact that Disney wants to buy Sonic is funny all because Sonic 3 is a hit worldwide wide I say Sega should buy Disney I say we petition signed by many people, with this cause. end of story
Disney can say how hard they worked on this soulless cash-grab to a beloved animated movie classic of the 1990s.
Disney realy could have saved itself with a 2d hand drawn N\Mufasa film.
Hashtag Trump needs to buy Disney!

I love both versions but I would like more 2d animated Lion King. When I did a computer graphics class I started my own 2d animation project I'm still working on its a fanfiction sequel to the lion king 2. Simba's pride. Due to the weird numbering scheme of the third official animated movie where in some places it's called the lion king 3 and others it's called the lion king 1 1/2. I didn't give it a number I've just called it the Lion King the pride lands for all.
Def post it on RUclips when you’re done! I could see that getting a lot of views. Even if you just take a scene out of it and post that
I'd definitely watch that! I'm actually also writing my own sequel too! But I can't animate so it will just be on paper with some of the scenes.
A proper Lion King III would be titled “The Lion King III: Pridelands for All”…
